The Atlantic Festival, which is organised by the Regional Secretariat for Tourism and Culture, through the Regional Tourism Board, celebrates the arrival of summer on Madeira and Porto Santo Islands with fireworks and music.
The Madeira International Fireworks Competition includes three pyromusical shows which take place on the first three Saturdays of June, and can be enjoyed along the bay of Funchal, over 20 minutes. This edition counts on the participation of pyrotechnic companies from three competing countries: Italy, France and England. The objective is to attain the “Atlantic Trophy”, awarded by a jury, as well as the “Madeira Belongs to All Trophy”
awarded by the public. The vote can be cast in tombolas, placed in the Plaza shopping centre, at the Tourist Office in Avenida Arriaga, as well as at the Funchal Pier, the night of the show.

At Praça do Povo, in Funchal, the summer sunsets enhance the event with a small market which present regional flavours. Visitors can enjoy the renowned bolo do caco, poncha, craft beer, sweet treats and cocktails, while enjoying the sunset by the sea. With music performances and dance shows, the relaxed ambience celebrates summer.

Be prepared to be taken through themes ranging from classic operas, famous musicals and jazz, in a captivating fusion that promises to surprise and delight.
