Funchal – Praça do Povo Madeira Wine Lounge – Restaurant and Leisure Area Sunday to Thursday 18:00 to 23:00 Friday and Saturday 18:00 to 00:00 Over several days, this venue offers unique opportunities for tourists and locals to enjoy regional cuisine and wine tastings, to the sound of performances by music groups and DJs, in a captivating seaside setting. This location will feature four specific areas: one dedicated to wine, another to gastronomy, one for performances, as well as an area called the “Zona Lounge”. In this edition, 12 producers will promote the Madeira and Porto Santo Wine Region, allowing visitors to deepen their knowledge on Madeira liqueur wine, as well as the PDO “Madeirense” and PGI “Terras Madeirenses” still wines, whether white, red, sparkling or rosé.

Shakespeare in the Wine Cellars The magic of classical theatre comes to the Madeira Wine Cellars with an original and engaging proposal: William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Performed in English over three days, in the heart of the locations which hold the island’s most emblematic treasures, visitors and locals will be able to watch a shortened and adapted version of the famous romantic tragedy, in a unique environment which combines culture, heritage and enotourism. Each day, the experience will take place at a different winery, in two performances per day, providing moments of intense emotion in a setting filled with authenticity and tradition.

Live Harvest
On Saturday morning, the spotlight turns to Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, where the Harvest Festival takes place. There, in a madeiran quinta, the harvest is done, followed by an ethnographic parade in which a vast number of folclore and ethnographic groups participate. After the parade, the treading of the grapes is recreated in a traditional winepress, with participation open to all, under a festive atmosphere with music entertainment and regional cuisine.
