A NOTE FROM TOM HOULE & WALT DAVIS FINANCE COMMITTEE CO-CHAIRS

As summer comes to a close and we head into our fall season, we want to take this opportunity to share a snapshot of our financial position. We continue to have strong cash reserves with $10.5M in the bank with roughly $4.5M remaining to be paid on the Settindown projects. Both the 3rd floor and turf care projects have been completed on time and on budget. Interest in Membership remains at an all-time high, allowing us to balance the number of new members we bring in while still meeting our financial needs from initiation fees.

With construction underway, one of our goals coming into 2025 was to provide every member with as much access as possible and to maintain opportunities for social activities. You are to be commended for your support, flexibility and patience as we made changes to operations to make this happen. Member participation has remained high throughout and as a result, revenues in almost all departments are well ahead of budget. Management has done an outstanding job controlling expenses while still delivering an exceptional experience. Through June, we are exceeding our first financial goal to break even from operations, which puts us in a great position as we look toward the fall and holiday seasons to come.

Income from capital dues and investments are used to fund our normal replacement capital. While much of this year has focused on major projects, we have also upgraded our Ballroom AV, added new umbrellas at the pool, painted the pool side of the clubhouse, added new drainage to the tennis courts, replaced cardio equipment, several pieces of kitchen equipment and the tennis ball machine. In the coming months, we will receive new greens mowers and golf carts at Settindown.

Initiation fees are used to fund our major projects. Adherence to our 3-tier goals over the past decade allowed us to build sufficient cash reserves to fund all our major projects this year and still have money in the bank. The renovation of our 1912 Grille & Lounge spaces has been well received and it is exciting to see and hear the camaraderie in this space. We are pleased that the Settindown Course project is nearing completion and plans are underway for the reopening of the course. Phase 1 of the Settindown Clubhouse improvements are taking place and should be ready when the course reopens. Plans for improvements to the Settindown men’s locker room, golf arrival area and entrance gate will be completed in later phases with existing cash.

The Board and Long Range Planning Committee have been working to fine tune the designs for the Ansley Forward Project. We are currently working with the Long Range Planning Committee to develop financial models which include funding for this project. We will hold town meetings and then bring our proposal before the membership for a vote later in the year.

Again, thank you for your support. You are what makes Ansley such a special place and we are excited for the future of the Club. I would also like to thank the members who serve on the Finance Committee for their continued support of the Club. If you have any questions about the Club’s finances, please do not hesitate to contact Joy Platé, CFO, or either of us.

Welcome New Members

Elizabeth Halkos and her children Anthony (12) and Mia (9) are native Atlantans. Elizabeth is the COO of Vivlio Health, a venture partner at Valos Ventures and president of Emory University’s Alumni Board.  Anthony attends Paideia and Mia is currently at Morningside.

Josh and Marcia Ganz have lived in Morningside since 2010, and, after many years of watching the Ansley shuttle pass by, they are excited to board as members. They have two children—Haley (11) and Max (9)—who are looking forward to the rare luxury of intown pool time (and also riding the shuttle). Josh and Marcia both grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta and met while at the University of Georgia. Marcia works as the in-house employment attorney and ethics program manager at Colonial Pipeline Company. Josh is a partner in the corporate department at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton. They are looking forward to the community of members, time at the Ansley pool, and fun social events - but Josh is most excited about getting in rounds of golf.

Instructional Leadership Transition AT ANSLEY GOLF CLUB

We are pleased to announce that Jacob Tilton will assume the role of Director of Instruction at Ansley Golf Club. In tandem with this transition, we are proud to recognize Russ Davis as the Club’s first Instructor Emeritus—a title that honors his exceptional contributions and lasting impact on our instructional programs.

Russ has served with distinction as Director of Instruction for over nine years. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in expanding and elevating our teaching programs. His accolades include being named Teacher of the Year twice in the Philadelphia Section and a finalist for the PGA of America Teacher of the Year in 1995. After coming to Georgia, Russ was named North Chapter Teacher of the Year in 2008. A highly accomplished player, Russ also competed in the 2009 U.S. Senior Open and has numerous tournament victories to his name. In his new role, Russ will continue to provide instruction at both the Midtown and Settindown campuses and remain actively involved in clinics and programming. His continued presence will be invaluable to our members and the overall instructional experience at Ansley.

Jacob has been a dedicated member of our professional staff for over eight years, serving in roles including Assistant Golf Professional and Junior Golf Leader. His passion for player development and commitment to excellence have made him an integral part of our team. Most recently, Jacob’s stature as one of the country’s premier teaching and playing professionals was affirmed by his victory at the 2025 Atlanta Open. He was also named one of Golf Digest’s Best Young Teachers in America (2025–2026) and was honored as the 2023 North Chapter Teacher of the Year. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Jacob as he steps into this new leadership role.

Our team of golf professionals remains committed to supporting both Jacob and Russ in delivering exceptional instruction through camps, clinics, and individual lessons. We encourage members to reach out to the Golf Staff for assistance in achieving their personal goals in the game.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you at the Club.

Warm regards,
