TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3: Midtown Clubhouse will be CLOSED

A NOTE FROM TOM HOULE FINANCE CHAIRMAN

I want to begin by thanking each of you for continuing to support your club. As the summer season begins to wind down, I can assure you the Club remains financially sound with a strong cash reserve, no current debt and an all-time high interest in membership. The financial goals put in place over a decade ago continue to guide our decisions and have allowed us to continue improving our services and make improvements to our facilities at the highest level. We are fortunate to have ample cash reserves to cover several major projects that will take place over the next 12-18 months.

Our first financial goal is to ensure that operational expenses are sufficient to cover operational costs. The first six months have gotten off to a great start. Even with many members returning to normal travel plans, club usage remains high and revenues in most areas have surpassed both budget and 2023 levels. While our expenses are higher than last year, we remain better than budget.

Our second goal is for capital dues to go toward replacement capital. This year we have approved $1.6M to date to begin catching up on projects. Thus far we have replaced 2 shuttles, several pieces of cardio equipment, painted the tennis building and replaced the tennis awnings. In the coming months, we will receive new golf carts at the Midtown Course, furniture for the Ansley Patio and grounds equipment.

Lastly, initiation fees are reserved for new capital projects. The short course greens at Settindown were just converted to TifEagle grass and the Settindown Course renovation is just getting underway. As our holiday season ends in December, we will begin a renovation on the 3rd floor including a redesign of the 1912 lounge and dining area along with the main entryway. Last September, we lost most of our Midtown Turf Care facility to a fire. Our grounds crew has done a remarkable job working through this difficult transition while keeping the course at the level we have come to expect. A team has been in place for months working on the best solution to meet our long-term needs in this area. As plans develop, we will keep you informed on the timing and scope of this project.

The upcoming months will be both exciting and challenging as we undertake these improvements and each will have an impact on the operations of the club. Our goal is to provide every opportunity for members to have as much access as possible and maintain camaraderie with other members, but we also ask for your patience as we work through these changes. As we continue to study the long-term plans for our Athletic building and family dining spaces, we are committed to doing so in a manner that ensures we remain financially sound. More will be shared on this as plans evolve.

Once again, I want to thank each of you. It is your commitment and support that makes Ansley successful. I would also like to thank the members who serve on the Finance Committee for their continued support of the Club. If you have any questions about the Club’s finances, please do not hesitate to contact Joy Platé, CFO, or me.

Settindown Creek Golf Course Renovation

Set to Begin, Wednesday, September 4

As you have probably seen, activity has started to ramp up in August in anticipation of our contractor, Duininck Golf, being onsite and getting started in early September.

Over the course of August , the following was completed:

• “Before” drone videos and pictures of the entire golf course. We engaged Georgia Drone Pilots to provide before/after video and pictures as well as “in progress” videos over the course of the project so members can follow along as the work is happening.

• We began bush hogging and herbicide application in natural areas of the golf course that are to be replaced. These natural areas and the cool season grasses take the longest to get established so that is an early area of focus for the project to provide as much time as possible to grow in.

• The first application of herbicide on all the fairways and green surrounds occurred on August 27th. We must complete 3 applications of herbicide that are 21 days apart before we can begin regrading fairways and shaping greens, bunkers, etc.

• We have been receiving supplies and equipment throughout August including pipe, wire and irrigation materials. Duininck moved in containers for storage behind #14 black tee and setup an office trailer by #14 tee.

As we look forward into September, early project activities will include:

• Irrigation main line installation - begins September 4

• Tree removal - begins September 4

• Install erosion controls for the reservoir phase, including construction ingress/egress - begins September 3

Welcome New Members

• Construction of new reservoir and deconstruction, reshaping of the existing one - begins September 9

Over the course of the project, the club will use all our communication channels to keep the membership aware and informed of the progress including Instagram, Website, Ansley App, Email and the Ansleygram. Please make sure you are signed up and following to stay up to date!

Intermediate Fall Junior Clinics

Drills, Instruction, and Practice Routines. This is an exciting series of clinics throughout the year at Ansley for our intermediate junior golfers. The series will cover more focused and detailed characteristics of the game. By using training aids along with instruction in our clinics, juniors will get instant feedback on how their golf swings are developing. We encourage our juniors to play other sports, along with golf, to become wellrounded athletes. These junior golfers have intermediate knowledge of the game and their golf swing. We will develop their full swing, short game, putting, and start to comprehend their overall fundamentals in the game of golf.

When: Saturdays, September 21, 28 October 5, 12

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Ages: 8-16

EMS Training is Electric Muscle Stim-ulation Training. Two people with one trainer is $35 each, one on one is $65 each. Please note that not all trainers offer two on one training. If you are interested, we encourage you to reach out to Bobbie Bell, bbell@ansleygc.org to inquire more information as well as setting up your session.

“Miha EMS has been a great thing for me. I’ve added strength and muscle, cut fat, and enjoy the workouts every week. In the past I always injured myself working out, but never once with EMS. It’s amazing that one 20-minute workout, once a week, could be so effective and enjoyable. My trainer has been a big part of the success, always innovating (like adding TRX that I enjoy) and attentively working hard, every time. I appreciate it. I plan to keep doing my weekly Miha workout. It’s one of my favorite activities of the past 10 years!” - Doug Reid

InBody

We have an InBody 570! The InBody will provide feedback that will allow you to see measurable progress. It is a body composition analysis machine. This is a fast, non-invasive way to receive comprehensive metrics of your body. It provides an easy-to-read chart regarding muscle mass, percentage of body fat, and total body water. Contact Bobbie Bell @ bbell@ansleygc.org for more info. This is FREE to our Ansley members.
