A NOTE FROM CHRIS MAREK ATHLETICS CHAIRMAN
Welcome to the 2024 pool season!
Elevating The Ansley Experience continues to be the main objective of the committee and staff this year.
The Wellness Center, Youth Department, and Aquatics saw significant growth last year in every aspect!
We fully transitioned from a Fitness Center to an overall Wellness Center where we not only focus on exercise, but also recovery and wellbeing. We enhanced our facilities, added programming and events, upgraded equipment, all to gratify our diverse membership demographic. We have plans to make 2024 just as, if not more, advantageous for our members to make the Wellness Center one of your primary destinations for your wellbeing.
A highlight in 2023 was that the Wellness Center purchased the club’s first MIHA Bodytec Electro Muscular Stimulation system. The overall health benefits and rave reviews from our members using this system created a rapid demand and exceeded our expectations so much that a second system was purchased in late 2023. Upon purchasing a second system, a previous storage room was successfully constructed into an official EMS studio and has since been renovated to an inviting space.
The activity level on the pool deck last summer was off the charts to say the least, drawing in exceptional volume of both adult and family swimming.
The Ansley Sharks Swim Team continues to be an elite program at Ansley that brings family and friends together for fun and camaraderie while instilling sportsmanship, confidence, and competition in our youth. We are incredibly excited to announce our new Head Coach, Chris Chow for the 2024 season. We have many new items in store for the 2024 swim season and we look forward to the Sharks competing for the championship again this year!
The Youth Department had a successful 2023. Kidz korner, tween nights, and special events continue to sell out each month and are always a popular draw for the club. The etiquette classes, sports camps, and field trips continue to educate and entertain the children. We strongly encourage you to stop by or read "This Week at Ansley" or our newsletter to take advantage of our offerings.
In conclusion, our Wellness, Aquatics, and Youth Departments continue to be high quality, steady, dependable, and lead the Country Club Industry with creative planning and professional execution. Of course, none of this is possible without the dedication and countless hours that is led by Matt Grayson, Bobbie Bell, and Pam Santiago and their respective staff. These professionals ensure The Ansley Experience is delivered each and every day to you and your family. Our staff along with committee input continue to look for ways to improve our programming and facilities. We would also like to thank all of the Athletics Committee members who help guide the department. We look forward to a successful 2024 as we continue to elevate The Ansley Experience.

Settindown Golf Course Master Plan
Featuring Hole #18
Each month until we begin the Settindown renovation, we will preview a hole and Tyler Rae will share his thoughts behind the design of that hole.
“We are eager to provide a glimpse into our architectural vision for the soon-to-be-renovated Hole #18 and are thankful the membership has entrusted us with the task.
When initially studying the bold finishing hole, we felt that it was very severe and a little overkill. Meaning, the land was steeply downhill, which provided the player an awkward tee shot and a tough lie from the fairway with a shot over a forced water feature directly in front of a sloping two-tiered green. This one-dimensional golf hole puts too much emphasis on carrying the water hazard and subsequently eliminates the recovery shot and takes the player out of the hole if they do not successfully negotiate it - resulting in many double bogeys and “ball in pocket situations” ending the round.
After spending some time thinking about creative ways to make the hole more interesting and fun, we decided to soften the tee shot landing area and fill in the water hazard in front of the green, replacing it with a “valley of sin” type short grass run-off area; something that will look less daunting but not easily negotiated. The green and its split-level tier will also get a refresh so that it fits better into the overall setting.”
-Tyler Rae

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
31st Anniversary Charity Pro-Am
August 14 - 18
The 2024 Ansley Charity Pro-Am, set for August 14-18, is Ansley Golf Club’s signature philanthropic event. Whether you are a player or patron, there are many ways for you and your family to participate. Join us for ladies’ and men’s tennis, golf and pickleball as well as the clay shoot and Saturday night’s auction and gala.
Now in our 31st year, we will continue building on our membership’s generosity by giving to charities that provide Alzheimer’s research and support health services. This year’s charities include Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, CHRIS 180, Operation Feed Atlanta, and our legacy philanthropy, the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation. The goal is to raise $200,000 for these charities in 2024.
Established in 2005, Emory University's Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) is dedicated to advancing research and education on Alzheimer’s disease and various related forms of cognitive impairment. As a vital component of the National Institutes of Health-supported network of Alzheimer’s research centers, and the only one in Georgia, the Goizueta ADRC’s objectives include discovery of risk factors for the disease, new diagnostic, therapies, and ultimately disease prevention. Our overarching goal is to pursue scientific breakthroughs that lead to the discovery of cures for neurological diseases.
CHRIS 180 is an Atlanta-based nonprofit and was founded in 1981. CHRIS 180 provides life-changing trauma-informed behavioral health services and wraparound support to children, adults, and families to help them change the direction of their lives. CHRIS 180 has worked with more than 200,000 to build resilience and heal from trauma, while becoming a well-respected leader in child welfare and a thought leader in supporting underserved and traumatized communities across Metro Atlanta.
Operation Feed Atlanta is committed to being a dedicated, no red tape resource to our Atlanta school community as a partner in the fight against food insecurity. We work directly with school counselors, administrators, and community leaders, and it is our goal to never turn down a request for food. We have a school snack bag program, holiday meals programs, and a championed food pantry initiative. We are 100% volunteer run, and our Board of Directors’ commitment is only surpassed by the talent of this results driven team and army of volunteers.
Additionally, we continue to honor the memory of our members and families through our legacy philanthropy, the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation. For over 20 years, SBTF has supported critical, cutting-edge research and education programs throughout the Southeast.

The Ansley Women’s Network is a new opportunity for women at Ansley Golf Club to connect professionally and personally with their fellow women members. Our mission is to create a collaborative community where we deepen our connection to each other. We want to move through life’s journey together and ask one another, “What can I do to help you?” Our desire is to empower the women of Ansley to grow personally and professionally, developing long lasting friendships that positively impact your member experience.
On March 21st, AWN hosted its kickoff event in the Prado Ballroom with approximately one hundred attendees. The evening included music, friends, new and old, and a fabulous presentation by Ansley member, Teresa Hargrave, who guided us in how to “Move Slow to Move Fast”. Are you a woman interested in growing your personal and professional relationships in the Atlanta and Ansley Community? Come join us. AWN has a place for you. The Approved Swimmer List
• All swimmers 10 and under must be on the Approved Swimmer list to be inside the pool gates without a wrist band on.
• Swimmers that are not on the Approved Swimmer List along with at least one parent will be issued a wrist band and are required to wear them until exiting the pool area.
• Parents of swimmers with wristbands must be within an arm’s length of the child wearing the wristband submerged in the pool if the child is in the pool. This rule also extends to the pool deck. Non-approved swimmers are not permitted to roam the deck unaccompanied. Swimmers who are not on the Approved Swimmer List are not permitted to jump off the diving board.
• Children may test with an authorized Athletics Staff member to be added on the Approved Swimmer List.
Age Requirements
• Children four (4) and under in age may only use the main pool if under the direct supervision of an adult.
• Children four (4) and under in age or less than 45” in height may use the baby pool and must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
• Children ages six (6) and under must be accompanied by a supervising parent or chaperone that is at least sixteen (16) years old.

• Unaccompanied children will lose their unaccompanied swimming privileges if they become disruptive or engage in inappropriate conduct.
Swim Diaper Policy
All children, even those that are potty trained, 3 and under are REQUIRED to wear an approved swim diaper while on the pool deck. Approved swim diapers must have elastic at both the legs and waist and fit snug against the child’s body. DO NOT have your child wear any additional materials under the swim diaper. Wearing an additional diaper underneath can increase the risk of an accident. Only children wearing an approved swim diaper will be given a wrist band to show that they are approved to swim. Diapers and wrist bands can be found in the Towel Shop.
Cameras are updated every year; we enforce the $500 - $1,000 fine for any incidents that occur in either the baby pool or main pool.
