A NOTE FROM CHRIS MAREK

ATHLETIC CHAIRMAN

It’s an exciting time at Ansley Golf Club! We’re seeing high member engagement and strong club usage across all departments, and Athletics is no exception. Building upon this positive momentum, our focus for 2025 is to further elevate the member experience. We aim to achieve this by enhancing our operations with a strong emphasis on hospitality, recognizing and responding to the evolving expectations of our members.

Review of Accomplishments

We have made strides in several areas, demonstrating our commitment to improvement and growth:

• Swim Team: The Ansley Sharks remains a significant source of pride for our club. We have reinvested and restructured the program with a new consultant, increased coaching, instruction, and a dedicated subcommittee to ensure its continued success by engaging existing and new members with the Sharks’ history and legacy and encouraging greater child and parental involvement.

• Learn to Swim: We have successfully reinvested and launched the Ansley Learn to Swim Program, providing a critical learning experience for young swimmers with a team of highly trained instructors offering group and private lessons for children aged 6 months and up, including adaptive lessons and programming.

• Aquatics: We continue to enhance our aquatics facility and programs. The pool is open for lap and Master’s swim, with family swim opening on May 10th. Hiring for the summer is underway. Off-season maintenance projects, such as baby pool acid wash, leak repair, and new cantilever umbrella canopy replacements are being completed.

• Wellness Center: The Wellness Center has experienced substantial growth, particularly in Electronic Muscle Stimulation (EMS) offerings. We have converted Studio One into a dedicated EMS studio and allows for diverse session options. Staffing changes and responsibility reallocations have improved operational efficiency. We are committed to ongoing staff training and education and are actively recruiting and developing personnel to support our expanded programming.

• Youth Programs: Our Youth Department remains active and industry leading, offering popular programs and activities such as Cotillion, Kidz Korner, Dinner and a Movie, Tween Nights, Etiquette classes, Sports Camps, Preschool Camps, diverse field trips, and special events. These programs offer significant child development opportunities and enhance member opportunities to use the club.

Looking Ahead: Evolving the Club Experience

As member expectations continue to evolve, Ansley Golf Club is committed to being at the forefront of delivering exceptional experiences. In 2025, a key focus will be on integrating a hospitality-centric approach as well as operational efficiency throughout Athletics. This will involve:

• Reviewing the Wellness Center layout and operation.

• Enhancing service standards through the department.

• Investing in staff training and development to ensure we exceed member expectations.

• Proactively seeking and incorporating member feedback to tailor our offerings.

• Creating a more consistent and personalized member experience at every touchpoint.

Matt Grayson, Bobbie Bell, and Pam Santiago continue to lead efforts in elevating the member experience across the Wellness, Aquatics, and Youth Departments. The Athletics Committee and staff are committed to expanding programming, equipment, and facilities to meet membership needs. This evolution, combined with our enhanced focus on hospitality, will ensure that Ansley Golf Club not only meets but exceeds member expectations and solidifies our position as a leader in the club industry.

Finally, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to the management team and the committee members for their dedication and hard work. Their contributions ensure the success of Ansley Golf Club Athletics Department.

I look forward to seeing you at the pool shortly.

The 32nd Anniversary Ansley Charity Pro-Am Event

The 2025 Ansley Charity Pro-Am, set for August 13-17, is Ansley Golf Club’s signature philanthropic event. Whether you are a player or patron, there are many ways for you and your family to participate. Join us for ladies’ and men’s tennis, golf and pickleball as well as the clay shoot and Saturday night’s auction and gala.

HISTORY

Since 1993, the Ansley Golf Club Pro-Am has grown and evolved to become the premier charity pro-am in Georgia. In fact, Ansley’s pro-am has earned multiple awards including the USPTA National Charity Event of the Year. Ansley proudly has raised over $2.7 million for worthy charities since its conception. Now in our 32nd year, we will continue building on our membership’s generosity by giving to charities that provide valuable support for people in need in our city and region. This year’s charities include Boyce L Ansley School, Operation Feed Atlanta, and our legacy philanthropy, the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation. We hope to raise $200,000 for these charities in 2025.

CHARITIES

The Boyce L. Ansley School, a tuition-free private school for children experiencing or who have experienced homelessness, is Atlanta’s most impactful & collaborative community-driven initiative. Fully funded by generous donors, the school is dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty by providing a high-quality academic program and collaborative family support. By empowering both children and families to thrive beyond their current circumstances, The Ansley School fosters change that will last for generations. Students who have experienced extreme poverty, transience, and constant stressors face more trauma and worries than they should. At Ansley, they benefit from a stable environment with academics tailored to their needs. The school is safe and nurturing with highly skilled faculty who provide the essential foundation for student success. Currently serving 90 students in grades K-5, the school will grow by one grade each year, with the commitment of becoming a K-8 school by 2027.

Operation Feed Atlanta is committed to being a dedicated, no red tape resource to our Atlanta school community as a partner in the fight against food insecurity. We work directly with school counselors, administrators, and community leaders, and it is our goal to never turn down a request for food. We have a school snack bag program, holiday meals programs, and a championed food pantry initiative. We are 100% volunteer run, and our Board of Directors’ commitment is only surpassed by the talent of this results driven team and army of volunteers.

Additionally, we continue to honor the memory of our members and families through our legacy philanthropy, the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation. For over 20 years, SBTF has supported critical, cutting-edge research and education programs throughout the Southeast.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THE ENTIRE ANSLEY COMMUNITY AT THE 2025 “MAKE A DIFFERENCE” EVENTS!

SOCIAL & DINING

Comedy Night

Mark your calendars for an evening filled with laughter at our upcoming Comedy Night! We’re bringing you an unforgettable night of entertainment, featuring two talented opening acts to set the stage, followed by our headliner comedian, Andrew Stanely, who you might recognize from one of our fall Comedy Festival events!

Andrew Stanley’s journey to comedy is anything but ordinary. As a homeschooled preacher’s kid, his path seemed more likely to lead to quiet devotion rather than a career on stage. However, his sharp wit and keen observations propelled him into the world of stand-up, where he has quickly made a name for himself. Since 2016, Andrew has been entertaining audiences nationwide with his dry humor and fresh perspective on everyday life. His talent has earned him a spot on Sirius XM radio, recognition as a New Face of Comedy at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, and an appearance on Nate Bargatze’s “The Showcase” on Nateland in 2023. Known for his clean, yet hilariously relatable humor, Andrew brings a performance that every member will enjoy.

Before the show join us for a Cocktail Party on the City View Terrace and surrounding event spaces. Enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres food stations and a member ticket bar as you get ready for the laughs. Reservations are required separately for the Cocktail Party, so be sure to secure your spot early!

Midtown Tee Time Information

During the renovation of Settindown Creek, the tee time program has continually evolved to accommodate the most member play. The demand for more eighteen hole tee times, coupled with longer days, has prompted us to return to our traditional tee sheet at Midtown Tuesday through Saturday effective May 1st. We believe that this structure will help us to better meet the golf demands of the membership. The tee sheet will reflect the following setup beginning on Thursday, May 1:

• Monday- Nine hole tee times starting at 1:00 pm

• Tuesday through Saturday- Return to the traditional Midtown sheet

• 8:00-9:48 am Eighteen Hole Tee Time Block

• 12:12-2:00 pm Eighteen Hole Tee Time Block

• 4:15-6:30 pm Nine Hole Tee Times

• Sunday- Nine hole tee times for the entirety of the day

**Members may book tee times 7 days in advance via Foretees through the Ansley app. 72 hours prior to your tee time you will receive a notification reminding you to fill in any TBA’s you have in the tee sheet. 48 hours in advance all TBA’s (X’s) will be removed from the tee sheet and be open for other members to book.

If you have any questions about the tee sheet, or require assistance in booking a time, please do not hesitate to contact the Midtown Golf Shop at 404-897-7717. Thanks for your patience as we work through the busier portion of the golf season.

Ansley’s FREE Physical Fitness Test

Celebrate National Physical Fitness

Month This May!

May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, an initiative started by the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition in 1983. This annual celebration highlights the importance of staying active and improving overall health through physical activity and sports participation.

What Is Physical Fitness?

Physical fitness broadly refers to the ability to perform daily activities with ease, maintain energy levels to enjoy life, and engage in activities you love without undue fatigue. At Ansley, this often means enjoying golf, tennis, pickleball, walking your dog on the golf course, or meeting friends for lunch— all while feeling great and pain-free.

Ansley’s Wellness Department is committed to helping members stay active, healthy, and doing what they love most at the club for as long as possible. Our goal is to ensure that you can enjoy these activities with optimal performance and minimal discomfort.

Components of Physical Fitness

Physical fitness includes several key components:

• Cardiorespiratory Endurance: The ability of your heart and lungs to fuel your body during sustained activity.

• Muscular Strength: The power your muscles can exert.

• Muscular Endurance: How long your muscles can sustain activity.

• Flexibility: The range of motion in your joints.

• Body Composition: The ratio of fat to lean mass in your body.

Introducing the Ansley Fitness Test

To celebrate National Physical Fitness Month, Ansley is offering a FREE Physical Fitness Test for all members. This test is designed to establish a baseline for your current fitness level—not to judge whether you›re in the best or worst shape of your life. It provides a starting point for tracking progress over time.

Test Details – Total duration of appointment should last an hour or less.

The Ansley Fitness Test will include:

• Cooper Test (12-minute run/walk)

• Push-Up Test

• Grip Strength Assessment

• Plank Duration Test

• Sit-and-Reach Flexibility Test

• InBody Body Composition Analysis

Tests will be modified as needed based on individual needs. Members are encouraged to schedule their initial appointment in May and a follow-up appointment in July to measure progress over 60 days.

Why Participate?

Regular physical activity offers numerous benefits:

• Improved stamina, energy levels, and muscle tone.

• Reduced risk of chronic diseases like Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

• Enhanced mental well-being, including reduced anxiety and improved cognitive function.

• For older adults, exercise can improve balance and reduce the risk of falls.

By participating in the Ansley Fitness Test, you’ll gain valuable insights into your fitness level while setting achievable goals for improvement.

Make this May the start of a healthier, more active lifestyle. Sign up today for Ansley’s FREE Physical Fitness Test and take the first step toward better health and wellness!

Please set your appointment today by reaching out to Bobbie at bbell@ansleygc.org.

Meet Coach Bella

I have had a lifelong passion for swimming. I have been teaching swim lessons year round for three years now, and I love helping kids understand the importance of water safety while learning skills they can use for a lifetime. I enjoy making lessons fun and engaging while ensuring they are productive and educational. Watching my students grow in confidence and ability in the water is incredibly rewarding. Currently, I swim for Life University, where I continue to grow as an athlete. Previously, I had the opportunity to serve as the Head Coach for the Junior Sharks here at Ansley, a role that allowed me to nurture new swimmers and instill a love for swimming in young athletes. I cherished this experience and look forward to continuing to inspire and develop swimmers in my current endeavors.
