Dear Ansley Members,

A NOTE FROM HAL PHILIPSON

GOLF CHAIRMAN

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying your time on the course. As the Golf Committee Chair, I would like to thank you for your patience as we work toward the conclusion of our golf renovation project at Settindown. We have remained flexible to meet the golfing demands of the membership and will continue to do so throughout the renovation period. We have seen incredible activity levels at Midtown and are excited about the return of our northern property in the Fall.

Currently at Midtown, we have three tee sheet structures:

Tuesday through Saturday.

Eighteen hole waves for the morning (8:00-9:48) and afternoon (12:12-2:00), followed by nine hole tee times beginning at 4:15 pm

Sunday and Monday

Nine hole tee times for the entirety of the day. Times run from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm on Sunday and from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Monday.

As a reminder, maintaining a steady pace of play is crucial for ensuring that all members have an enjoyable round. Our pace of play for Midtown is four hours for eighteen holes. We kindly ask that you:

Be mindful of your position on the course and keep up with the group ahead.

Ready your shot while others are playing, and limit practice swings.

Allow faster groups to play through when appropriate. By adhering to these guidelines, we can minimize delays and enhance the experience for everyone.

Our beautiful course is a source of pride for all of us, and its upkeep requires collective effort. Please remember to:

• Repair ball marks on greens.

• Rake bunkers after use.

• Remember to sand your divots.

• Dispose of trash properly and respect the natural surroundings.

Your cooperation in these matters helps preserve the quality of our course and ensures it remains in excellent condition for future rounds.

I would also like to take this opportunity to recognize the outstanding contributions of our staff and highlight some new faces you may see in the Golf Operation. In late March, Jenna Mayo joined the Midtown golf operation as an assistant professional. She comes to Ansley after relocating to Atlanta from The Glacier Club in Durango, Colorado. Shortly thereafter, Kris Panachida joined the team as the Head Professional for Midtown. Kris comes to us after serving East Lake Golf Club for the previous five years. Please join us in welcoming the newest members of the team. Working in concert with the rest of the team, we are excited as we look to the future of the golf operation. Their hard work and commitment to excellence play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of our club.

The overriding goal of the Ansley Ladies’ Golf Association in 2025 is to maintain the camaraderie within ladies’ golf at AGC, in a year when Settindown is under renovation. ALGA has 8 events planned with more in the pipeline as “ALGA Play Away” events in the local Atlanta area, as well as outside of Georgia. Included in the dues are beginner and advanced clinics organized for March intown and in May at SD. In addition, a cocktail party was set for April to draw all members and support our efforts to enhance camaraderie. ALGA’s communications, via email and the app, remain a priority to help embrace and educate all members.

Thank you for your attention to these important aspects of our golfing community at Ansley. Let’s continue to work together to make our club a welcoming and enjoyable place for all members.

Kindest regards,

Sam Bronfman is an associate at Eastdil Secured.  An Atlanta native, he is the son of Matt Bronfman and Ronit Walker and a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.

Matt Bartch, Paige Iaffaldano and daughters Sloane (4 years) and Halle (18 months) are so excited to be a part of the Ansley family! Paige, a swimmer and newcomer to tennis, works for GumGum in advertising sales and we cannot wait for our girls to learn their way around the pool this summer! Matt is very much looking forward to the Ansley golf network and works for BlackRock in investment sales in their Atlanta office. Sloane and Halle are slowly learning ‘club etiquette’ but can’t wait to meet new friends. They live in the Virginia Highlands area and hope to meet MANY new Ansley friends in years to come!

Diving Deep with Ms. Betty

I am excited to share that I recently joined Ansley's Athletic Committee, which supports the Pool, the Shark's Den, The Ansley Sharks, and the Wellness Center.

In my new role, I've had the opportunity to learn more about the many engaging activities and programs offered at Ansley. One recent highlight was accompanying Youth Activities Director Pam Santiago and a group of children on April 27, to a special Atlanta Symphony program. The children were delighted by performances of John Williams' iconic Darth Vader theme and music from E.T. The program also featured a chorus and ballet, all within an hour. At the end, Ansley's young attendees received educational materials about the orchestra, providing a wonderful learning experience while their parents enjoyed their own activities.

Later that afternoon, the 2025 Swim Team Kick-Off took place. Volunteer parents helped distribute team swimsuits and personalized family towels, while swim team members enjoyed reconnecting just before the start of lap swimming season. It was inspiring to see the community come together to support our youth and foster a vibrant, active environment for all.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to celebrate and support Ansley's athletic and youth programs!

Comedy Night

Mark your calendars for an evening filled with laughter at our upcoming Comedy Night! We’re bringing you an unforgettable night of entertainment, featuring two talented opening acts to set the stage, followed by our headliner comedian, Andrew Stanely, who you might recognize from one of our fall Comedy Festival events!

Andrew Stanley’s journey to comedy is anything but ordinary. As a homeschooled preacher’s kid, his path seemed more likely to lead to quiet devotion rather than a career on stage. However, his sharp wit and keen observations propelled him into the world of standup, where he has quickly made a name for himself. Since 2016, Andrew has been entertaining audiences nationwide with his dry humor and fresh perspective on everyday life. His talent has earned him a spot on Sirius XM radio, recognition as a New Face of Comedy at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, and an appearance on Nate Bargatze’s “The Showcase” on Nateland in 2023. Known for his clean, yet hilariously relatable humor, Andrew brings a performance that every member will enjoy.

Before the show join us for a Cocktail Party on the City View Terrace and surrounding event spaces. Enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres food stations and a member ticket bar as you get ready for the laughs. Reservations are required separately for the Cocktail Party, so be sure to secure your spot early!

Etiquette Corner

If you are “on time” for your golf round, you are late! Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled tee time to allow for last-minute adjustments. For example, if your tee time is 8:00 a.m, this means that the first player should be hitting their ball at 8:00am, not arriving in the tee area at 8:00 a.m.

ALGA Town & Country

Many thanks to ALGA Board member, Lee Birdsong, for opening her beautiful home to our ALGA members for the Town & Country Cocktail Party on 4/30/25. Huge thank you to Ansley’s own, Jenna Mayo, for generously giving away gift certificates for private golf lessons for our raffle. Congratulations to the four lucky winners and enjoy your lessons.
