A NOTE FROM ANNIE CECIL & CHRIS CUMMISKEY HOUSE CO-CHAIRS
Ansley Members,
Welcome to spring at Ansley! We hope you all are enjoying several outlets around the club now that the weather is cooperating. The Bunny Bash was a huge success in March with over 600 participants! Please take time to peruse the social and dining pages of the Ansleygram every month for new and interesting events. This past year we saw the implementation of a Hanukkah Dinner, monthly Ladies’ Night Happy Hours, Ansley Women’s Network, and monthly Trivia night returned. Julie Bottiglieri and her fantastic team continue to create special and unique events for members of all ages. Here are some highlights of several events and the number of members and their families who attended.
1. Mother’s Day Brunch and Easter Brunch- Over 600
2. Rosé in the Garden- 86
3. Mother Daughter Tea- 126
4. Comedy Festival- 180
5. Oyster and Shrimp Roast- 69
6. Boo Bash- Over 1,000
7. Hanukkah Dinner- 150
8. Santa Brunches- over 900
9. Home for Happy Hour- 506
We look forward to continuing these events and adding new ones in 2024.
Our Assistant General Manager, John Ofrecio, is happy to report the hiring of Yesenia Muina (Director of Food and Beverage) and Haley Bartschke (Clubhouse Manager) to round out a solid leadership team at Ansley Midtown. Jessica Jolley, Settindown Clubhouse Manager, continues to keep everything running smoothly in Roswell. As we continue to face some staffing challenges, John and Haley are putting new energy into our Internship and Manager in Development programs which help Ansley recruit young talent and develop them as future club leaders. Many of you have already recognized our new hires along with our well-loved seasoned employees for the excellent work they do daily at both clubhouses. Please remember to recognize exceptional service by using the Instant Feedback feature in the Ansley App. The employees receive accolades from the leadership team as well as gift cards or paid time off for being recognized.
Our Maintenance Director, Danny Daniel, and his staff, continue to complete daily projects around the club to repair and maintain the building’s mechanical systems and equipment. Since our last update, we have completed numerous capital expenditure projects. As always, we receive at least two bids for all projects to validate
pricing and ensure the good stewardship of the Club’s money. The capital budget was used for the following projects over the past twelve months:
1. Completed elevator modernization project.
2. Popup Tents for sporting events and special occasions.
3. Purchased a new pasta machine for the main kitchen.
4. Purchased four new shuttles.
5. Purchased four new ovens for the main kitchen.
6. Installed additional AED's for AGC and SDC.
The Board of Directors recently approved the plan for the thirdfloor renovation. We are very excited about the design and improvements that will be made to upgrade the feel and look of the 1912 bar and dining area, the front entrance, prefunction area outside of the Ballrooms, and the main hallway and restrooms. Due to club wide events, member private gatherings, weddings, and the holidays, the renovation will begin in January and is expected to reopen in April. We know it will become an active adult only area of the club.
With the warmer weather and an increase in outdoor dining, please help enhance Ansley’s family-friendly atmosphere by keeping an eye on your children as they enjoy the amenities of the club. We are so fortunate to have Ms. Pam and the amazing Sharks Den staff who provide numerous camps, activities, and drop off opportunities for our families. Additionally, we do want to remind everyone of our cell phone policies. Cell phone usage must be held to nonverbal communication while in the clubhouses. Text, email, and internet use while on silent mode is permitted. This policy also applies to locker rooms and lounges. Thank you for adhering to these guidelines so that everyone has a pleasant experience while at the club.
We appreciate the hard work and dedication of the House Committee. They provide meaningful feedback and ideas to help Ansley remain the best club in Atlanta. I am excited to have Board member, Chris Cummiskey, join the House Committee. Chris served as Golf Chair and Athletics Chairman for the past few years and will bring a great deal of knowledge to our committee. Chris Marek was an excellent co-chair last year and I know he will enjoy co-chairing the Membership committee for the 2024-2025 year. We look forward to seeing everyone around the club enjoying all Ansley has to offer.
Annie Cecil and Chris Cummiskey

Ansley Pro-Am History
The Ansley Charity Pro-am began in 1993 and was designed to raise money for the mother of Ronnie Hass, former Tennis Director of Ansley Golf Club. Ronnie had just lost his mother to breast cancer and because of this, the Club decided to start a charity event to raise money for Breast Cancer Research.
Tennis Pro-Ams are very popular around the city of Atlanta and this addition by Ansley brought the number up to 17 in the metro area. Starting off, the Ansley ProAm was very small and consisted of only Men’s & Women’s Tennis Divisions. As the years progressed, the event began to grow more and more, to not only include Tennis play, but also black-tie formal parties, large silent & live auctions, and kid’s night parties. In 2012, the Pro-Am had grown to a 160-player tournament (80 members & 80 Pros) making it the largest Tennis Pro-Am in the Southeastern United States. The event had become the flagship event of the tennis program and the parties that have been associated with the Pro-Am were revered as the “best parties at the Club”. As the Club began to recognize the growth in popularity, they then decided to brand this event as a “Play it Forward” program to encourage our Ansley members into remembering that there is a purpose behind the fun, which is to raise money for local charities.
Over the years, the tennis portion reached capacity levels, so, in 2014 the Men's Golf Pro-Am event was added to the schedule. This allowed more members the opportunity to participate but also was a way to increase donations. With the Pro-Am now including both Men’s & Women’s Tennis, Golf, Thursday Night Kick-Off Parties, Friday
Night Carnivals for Kids, and Championship Sunday Awards, the event was getting nationally recognized as one of the top events in the Country and in 2016, the ProAm was awarded the National Charity Event of the Year by the United States Professional Tennis Association.
As time went on, the Pro-Am continued to drive more and more interest and the schedule continued to expand, including a Ladies Golf Pro-Am event. In 2022, the first offering was a 9-hole event but quickly increased to an 18-hole event in 2023. The Pro-Am golf events now have 45 players & 45 Pros participating and includes not only golf play but breakfast and an awards lunch on Wednesdays.
The Pro-Am schedule is now a Wednesday –Sunday Charity event that not only includes sport play but social events as well. With such great success, the Pro-Am Committee reconvened and decided to brand this as the “Make A Difference” Ansley Charity Event. It was in 2023 that a Sporting Clay Shoot competition was also included onto the overall schedule. In its first year we were able to field a full roster and raised over $10,000 for our chosen beneficiaries. The Pro-Am has continued to be one of our most successful Charity events of the year due to our outstanding member support. In the first few years, we raised several thousands of dollars and now consistently raise around $200,000 each year for our worthy charities that are selected. Some of these charities include groups like Susan G. Komen, Ronald McDonald House, Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation, UnTeal There is a Cure, The V-Foundation, Our House, Respite Care Atlanta, Folded Flag, Bert’s Big Adventure,
Agape Youth/Family Center, and many more. In our event history, we have raised nearly $2.7 million in the 31 years we have been running this event. With OUR efforts, we have been able to impact these charities and move the needle for them in their valiant efforts. Part of our "Make A Difference" initiative includes the Ansley Golf Club Research Grant with the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation. Each year, our donations help fund a grant to support the research for cures and treatments for brain tumors like so many of the ones that have affected several members of our Ansley Family.
We look forward to this great tradition for many years to come and are constantly looking for ways to involve the entire membership of the Club and to get everyone to participate in the Charity Fundraising Aspect. It takes a village to move mountains and the support of the Ansley membership remains strong. We should be proud to show Atlanta that Ansley Golf Club is a place that can be a catalyst to help many families and children in our area through the generosity of our membership by giving to worthy causes each year.
In 2024, you will see the Communications Committee, Tennis Committee, and ProAm Committee coming together to help spread the word, but we can only go so far. Make sure to talk about this event with your fellow members, friends, and family. Think about being a part of these efforts as we move forward into the 2024 ANSLEY CHARITY PRO-AM EVENT.
We thank each and every member who have donated and who will donate as we create change and Make A Difference in the lives of others.

ALGA Season Kick-Off Luncheon 2024
While the weather did not cooperate enough to allow the Par-3 tournament, the 2024 ALGA Season Kick-Off Luncheon was a great success! We were happy to host 60 members for a lovely luncheon and opening meeting. President Judy Marani opened the meeting with a warm welcome, an introduction of the ALGA Board Members, and an informative rundown of this year’s calendar of events. Will Hutter reviewed the upcoming changes to tee time registrations (going to 7-days in advance April 1/14-days for Ladies Days). He also spoke about how things might look for playing at the Midtown course once Settindown closes in September. No doubt our Golf Committee has put much thought into the pending situation. Liam Mitchell spoke about the Ansley Cup and encouraged the ALGA membership to sign up. Kelly Harper concluded the meeting with a prize drawing for each table, and the winners took home a coveted Ansley “Birdie Juice” flask. Let’s put those prizes to good use this year, with birdies-a-plenty!

“EMS has been a great supplement to my workout routine. It’s convenient, efficient, and it works!”
-JW Dukes“EMS has been a real boost to our regular workout routines. Tom and I see a noticeable increase in strength and muscle tone. It has provided an effective way to build muscle (even at our age) with minimal weekly time commitment. Our Inbody scans prove that it really works.”
-Tom & Diana Phelan
"The addition of Miha EMS training to our workout routines has been a game changer for Kim and me. Having recently undergone a total hip replacement, Miha integrated perfectly with my PT regimen and has quickly and safely restored my muscle balance and full body strength while providing Kim with a low impact total body workout with noticeable results in muscle tone and strength. And now with the addition of the InBody composition scanner, you can track the results in real time. Talk to an Ansley trainer and energize your workout today!" -
Craig and Kim McKesson
"We have been doing EMS with Bobbie for 4 months. We have noticed our core getting stronger, I am getting some distance in my golf game and hitting the tennis ball a little harder. We are gaining muscle without putting pressure on our joints. This is helping Matt hit the golf ball better with his arthritis."
-Kelly & Matt Harper
Discover EMS Training
What is EMS? Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) training is a type of training that uses a wearable device that attaches to the body, stimulating your muscles through tiny electrodes that accelerate your workout and enhance your body-toning results. The muscles can’t determine whether the signal is coming from the brain or the impulses coming through the miha bodytec device, but either way they contract.
The Difference? During an EMS session, the impulses activate over 98% of your muscles simultaneously throughout all major muscle groups. Each muscle reacts with 85 contractions per second - compared to 1-2 contractions per second in one muscle group at a time during traditional strength training.
What results can I expect to see? An EMS device encourages your body to enter a high metabolic state, helping you to tone and sculpt your body. As the device works your muscles, you’ll notice improved muscle strength and endurance. You only use the device for strength training 20-30 minutes, once per week to see visible results. Other programs are offered that can be used during the same week, such as the muscular endurance program or the body relax program.
Safety? EMS sessions consist of low impact functional movements and are always conducted by a certified personal trainer. EMS has proven results in people of all ages and fitness ability with numerous published scientific studies to support its efficacy.
Pricing? Two people with one trainer is $35 each, one on one is $65 each. Please note that not all trainers offer two on one training.
How do I sign up? If you are interested, we encourage you to reach out to Bobbie Bell, bbell@ansleygc.org to inquire more information as well as setting up your session.

Non-approved swimmers are not permitted to roam the deck unaccompanied. Swimmers who are not on the Approved Swimmer List are not permitted to jump off the diving board.

Swimmers entering the Jr. Sharks program should already have a basic skill level of how to swim as well as float on their back. While our coaches excel at what they do, safety is of the utmost importance while these young swimmers are in the water.
First Week of Practice: Monday, April 22
Time of Practice: 4:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Swimmers must be on the approved swimmers list to participate as a Jr. Shark.

Balloon Museum
Join us at the balloon museum at Pullman Yards! “Balloon museum” is a format created by a curatorial team that designs and realizes contemporary art exhibitions with specific works in which ‘air’ is a distinctive element. A journey through out-of-scale installations with unexpected shapes in which the interaction with viewers is placed at the center of the experience. Art that one can touch, live with and share, never static, that creates an innovative relationship with the user, giving life to an experiential path of socialization. This unconventional approach to culture is fascinating and intriguing to adults and children, as they are passionate and curious, and are helping to establish inflatable art as one of the most acclaimed ‘pop’ movements in the world.
