Thank you for coming to Top Glass, Canada’s trade event for the architectural glass industry. Here’s where you’ll meet and talk to the glazing contractors, installers, facade fabricators, architects, engineers, specifiers and building material suppliers who put the glass on our buildings across the country. Now in its 11th year, Top Glass has established a reputation for delivering a convenient, relaxed day of learning and relationship-building laser-targeted at industrial, commercial, institutional and high-rise residential glazing. We’re here to talk about glass and only glass.
But that’s not all that sets Top Glass apart. We’re also about Canadian glass and glazing. Everyone you see on the Top Glass show floor supplies products and services to the Canadian glass industry. The representatives you speak to and the experts you hear from know our business, our codes and standards, our regions and cities, our prices and taxes, our laws and regulations and, yes, our weather. Each of them, just by being here, is showing their commitment to serving you – not by taking an online order from some distant location, but by being on-hand and in-person to have a relationship with you. That’s still the best way to do business and it’s what you’ll find at Top Glass.
We hope you find great value in this opportunity to come together as a national industry for mutual learning and support. We’re committed to delivering an event that maximizes that value. Please speak to any of us and fill out your post-show survey to share your feedback and ideas.

CROSS-COUNTRY CODES AND STANDARDS UPDATE
Presenters: Terry Adamson and Amy Roberts
The 2025 National Building Code and National Energy Code for Buildings are due for updates this year. And those codes point to AAMA/FGIA standards that have been revised since the 2020 codes went into effect. Fenestration Canada technical director, Terry Adamson, and Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance director of Canadian and technical glass operations, Amy Roberts, will team up to deliver a top-line look at the important changes affecting architectural glazing. These include new limits on solar heat gain.
Adamson and Roberts work with the committees and standards authorities that are writing the rules we will use to specify architectural glass going forward. There are no better sources for information on what is new and what is coming in Canadian codes and standards.
11:00AM – 12:00 PM
THE GLASS MARKING PANEL
Moderator: Patrick Flannery, editor, Glass Canada
Panellists: Adam Mitchell, Marketing Manager, AGNORA Andrew Dolphin, General Manager of Glass Operations, BVGlazing Systems
Adam Shearer, President, iMagic Glass
Matthew Christie, Architectural Manager and Sales Representative, Walker Glass

Architectural glass can be altered on its surfaces in a myriad of ways and for a number of reasons. Adding colour and design; changing opacity and translucence; meeting standards for bird and human safety; increasing thermal resistance – it pays to know what fabricators can do to change the look and performance of glass with advanced marking technology. So we’ve invited four experts from top marked-glass producers to outline their techniques and explain the possibilities and benefits of each. Join Adam Mitchell of AGNORA, Andrew Dolphin of BV Glazing, Adam Shearer of iMagic and Matt Christie of Walker Glass for an exploration of ceramic frit, laser etching, digital printing and acid etching.

Director of Canadian and Technical Glass Operations for the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance
Amy Roberts is the Director of Canadian and Technical Glass Operations for the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance. In this role, Roberts recommends and implements strategies to address critical issues in the Canadian market relative to fenestration and glass products and keeps the pulse of Canadian residential and commercial construction market trends. Her key focus is the needs of Canadian fenestration and insulating glass companies. Roberts oversees the FGIA FENBC Region, particularly member services and technical and business operations. She communicates regularly with members to identify residential and commercial topics of interest and works to effectively address those topics
via presentations at regional events, webinars, standards and more. She also maintains strong relationships with government officials and local organizations in B.C. to further the objectives of the FENBC Region. In addition, she represents FGIA and the industry in the Canadian national building and energy code and regulatory arenas relative to fenestration and glass products and serves as staff liaison for related committees and task groups. Roberts has more than 25 years of industry experience in glass and IG manufacturing and in both residential and commercial window manufacturing. She started her fenestration journey working at a residential wood window manufacturer, then moved to a full service residential and commercial glass shop before ultimately landing in glass fabrication, where she spent 16 years in sales. Juliette is an intern architect, lecturer, researcher, and new mother. She brings a lifecycle lens to design thinking across a diverse portfolio of projects – evaluating these from the perspectives of embodied carbon, operational performance, cost, reuse potential, toxicity, labour, and more. She feels strongly that a return to a deeper understanding of materials, the ways they are made, and the ways in which they go together will enable a more regenerative design.

Juliette leads a collaborative project through the Circular Opportunity Innovation Launchpad that will showcase the economic viability and environmental necessity of deconstruction and material reuse across Ontario. She has worked with the City of Toronto on a benchmarking study on embodied carbon, helping to inform a future system of tiered targets and developing a standard reporting template for whole building life cycle assessments. Juliette has experience as a material research specialist at MASS Design Group, and as an architectural designer and sustainability consultant at White Arkitekter, where she created a palette of non-conventional, low-carbon materials for a large-scale cancer treatment centre. Juliette’s background in geography and environmental science has informed her knowledge and interest across various scales, from urban planning down to landscape design. In rediscovering the wonders of the world through the eyes of her young son, she has a deep commitment to design and policy work that will shape a healthier future for people and planet.

Terry Adamson has spent 40 years in the fenestration industry. He is the epitome of an industry ladder climber. Beginning with Cascade Windows in Langley, B.C., in 1985, he loaded windows onto delivery trucks with an eye on a career and opportunity to advance. With a keen sense of detail, the technical aspects drew him to all facets of development and design with stops in logistics, production, purchasing, sales, then spending 11 years as general manager and 10 years as Technical Director for Westeck Windows just east of Vancouver. He also served for 11 years with WDMA-BC/ FenBC to June 2015, including two terms as president, then spent seven years on the board of Fenestration Canada, including one term as association president. A vocal advocate for the industry – competitor or ally – he sees all as colleagues in a challenging business. In May of 2021, Terry joined Fenestration Canada as their on-staff Technical Director. Terry appreciates the challenges facing manufacturers trying to work under confusing building codes and market conditions and is never reluctant to voice his opinion or listen to others in the hopes of finding solutions.
