Billy is CEO of Good Sports and Entertainment, a National Sports Marketing Company. Not only is he a former award winning sports radio talk show host, Billy ‘V’ is accomplished in various ventures, including his most recent endeavors that come in a variety of forms - LaSalle Academy gave Billy his foundation of values and principles to live by that would carry him throughout his life and career, both personal and professional and led him to be successful in the sports and entertainment industries, to the development of a foundation that will honor a time that he refers to as “the best days of his life” - when he was a competitive, talented football player and a 1977 graduate of LaSalle Academy in Providence, Rhode Island.
The term, “ordinary,” doesn’t even begin to describe the nature of Billy ‘V’ Vigeant. After receiving the shocking diagnosis of Cholangiocarcinoma liver cancer, an incurable deadly disease, in 2019, Billy ‘V’, as he is best known, found himself down, but, in no way, out. In spite of his medical diagnosis, this Johnston, RI, native, without question, possesses the type of drive that prevents him from never ever giving up, and instead, he is putting all of his energy and efforts into making a difference by leaving behind a legacy in writing a book about his life, called “LEGENDARY SPEAKING,” written by accomplished author Joseph Broadmeadow. This book will cover Billy’s humble beginnings through his trials and tribulations to his breakthrough into radio, television, and also his acting career. Billy has interviewed and worked with over 350 celebrity athletes and entertainers throughout his career. Billy received the national award for his interview with Bill Russell called the Communicator Award, has his own Rhode Island day named after him, “BILLY V DAY,” December 19, 1994, is inducted into the Silver Lake Olneyville Baseball Hall of Fame, and was also chosen by Shop In RI as Rhode Islander of the Year, just to name a few of his many accolades. 52 Shop In RI
The Billy ‘V’ Scholarship Foundation is something that Billy has thought about creating since receiving his diagnosis, and then, reflecting on his life. The annual scholarships from the foundation are his way of giving back to society by awarding young men and women of his alma mater, who, like Billy, value hard work, and as a result, excel in their studies, as well as outside of school. The scholarships will also require eligible students to participate in sports and be a contributor to the public via community service. To accomplish the goals of the foundation, Billy has been working aside a dedicated team of professionals so as to acquire fiduciary donations that will lead to a culminating endowment goal of $1 million in the foundation. By creating this foundation, Billy’s principles and values will leave a legacy for years to come.
