This cake-artist-turned-teacher not only wants your cake to look good, but she wants it to taste good, too! Meet the entrepreneur behind this tasty new brand of flavorings called PK Elixirs.

“Cake decorating literally saved my life,” explains Porsha Kimble when sharing her cake journey. “PK,” as she is known, has been able to create a superior cake-making home business by implementing the tactics she learned from her prior background in sales. Now, she travels the U.S. sharing her story and teaching other home bakers how to price, decorate, and master the business aspect of running a home-based business. She also speaks on how to increase business and achieve much-needed work–life balance as an entrepreneur.

American Cake Decorating: What inspired you to become a cake artist? Porsha Kimble: Growing up, I watched the infamous Cake Challenge on the Food Network. I did not know that would lead me to making cakes later on as an adult, but it stayed with me as I began to bake and cook with my grandmother as a child. ACD: Where do you find your inspiration? PK: I find inspiration from my followers on Instagram. They tend to message me with ideas and that helps my creative process. I also draw inspiration on my own experiences when receiving a product through the mail. I want my customers to be excited when their package arrives at their door with my logo on it.

ACD: What has been your biggest accomplishment so far? PK: My biggest accomplishment to date I feel is that I have used my cake coins to get me out of debt and start a new business venture in the sweet community with my elixirs. ACD: Tell us about your new products! PK: My new PK Elixirs are extracts/ flavorings that can be used like the ones we have in our kitchens. You can bake with them or use them in pancakes, French toast, smoothies, and frosting.
