Let’s start at the beginning –what inspired you to step into the property market?

ASHLEY: It all started with an interest in property, not just as bricks and mortar but as spaces where memories are made. I’ve always loved the idea of helping people find the perfect property, the place they’ll call home.

IAN: For me, it was about connecting with people. Every property tells a story, and so does every person looking for one. The idea of being that bridge between the two is something I find really fulfilling.

Setting up Marriott Vernon is a bold move. What led to that decision?

IAN: We wanted to create something personal. In a world where many agencies feel corporate, we felt there was room for a fresh approach – one where people come first, not just transactions.

ASHLEY: Exactly. We wanted to build a business that’s rooted in trust and authenticity. We’ve both worked in the industry for years – over 10 of those together, so we’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. Setting up Marriott Vernon gave us the freedom to bring our vision to life.

What makes Marriott Vernon stand out in such a competitive market?

ASHLEY: It’s the personal touch. We’re not just agents; we’re advisors, problem-solvers, and sometimes even mediators!

IAN: We also pride ourselves on being incredibly transparent. Buying or selling a home can be daunting, so we’re here to simplify the process, making it as smooth and stress-free as possible.

What’s been the most rewarding moment so far?

IAN: Seeing the joy on a client’s face when everything falls into place – that’s unbeatable.

ASHLEY: Seeing our vision take shape and the positive feedback. When someone takes the time to write or call and say, “You made this so much easier,” it reminds us why we do this.

Finally, what’s next for Marriott Vernon?

ASHLEY: Growth, but in the right way. We want to keep our personal touch while expanding our reach.

IAN: And continuing to build relationships – after all, people are at the heart of what we do. We want our customers to view us as their trusted property partner.

Croydon, one of Greater London’s largest commercial hubs, boasts an extensive shopping district featuring the Whitgift and Centrale Shopping Centres, Boxpark, Surrey Street Market, and the vibrant Restaurant Quarter.
