Expanded geographic coverage

Agincare continues to grow sustainably and develop its services geographically across the country with new and existing partners. We opened a new head o ce in Harrogate (pictured) bringing high quality, personalised care to the north of England, as well as opening other new home care branches.

We’ve added to our Extra Care schemes, including being selected by the NHS and local authority to support Dunboyne Court and Whitley Court communities in Torbay. Our Enable service, which provides support for people with complex needs, opened new supported living accommodation in Medway. We also worked with partners to be the care provider for Furlong Close, a residential supported living community in Wiltshire that was under threat of closure.

Agincare welcomed Beaufort Park Retirement Village in Burnham-on-Sea into our growing portfolio of care and nursing homes. Plans for further geographic expansion are already well underway for 2023.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE 2

Ongoing service diversification

We are one of the few care providers nationwide that offer a comprehensive range of services, tailoring care to those we support as their needs change. We believe this enables us to innovate, utilise resources, share skills, adapt and respond in a way that few other providers can.

1 Commercial tendering activity with bids for new work contracts

We were awarded 30 contracts across our group companies. These have been a mixture of services including home care, residential care and nursing homes, and training and apprenticeships.

2 Acquisition of care and nursing homes in new areas and investment in existing services

We expanded our portfolio of high quality care and nursing homes with the addition of Beaufort Park Retirement Village in Burnham-on-Sea with exciting plans for future development already underway.

We invested £2million into refurbishing St Peter’s Park Retirement Village in Bexhill-on-Sea with major development also taking place at many other care and nursing homes, including Nightingale Care and Nursing Home in Derby.

3 Radiated growth from existing locations

We complemented our existing cluster of services around Medway with the opening of more supported living accommodation for younger adults, in addition to existing accommodation and Napier Respite and Day Service. Agincare also operates residential care homes, home care and live-in care in the area.

We were awarded the NHS and local authority contract for providing home care for Extra Care communities in Torbay. We also opened a new home care service in addition to our award-winning live-in care and hospital discharge projects in south Devon.

4 Relationship management with others to develop or take over new opportunities

Our care services worked more closely with partners, including local authorities, NHS and evolving Integrated Care Systems, to provide responsive care, including hospital discharge to assess services to free up hospital beds and support with winter pressures.

We worked with partners to secure the future of Furlong Close supported living community, delivering supported living to 30 tenants in Wiltshire and acquired an existing supported living scheme in Dorset; both from charitable organisations looking to consolidate.

Sustainability, quality and risk management

Agincare has come a long way since our Founder and Chairman Derek Luckhurst started his first care home in Weymouth in 1986. Still family-owned and independent with over 35 years of experience, Agincare is well placed to develop and grow in the future, exploring new opportunities, managing risks and ultimately keeping high quality care for those we support at the heart of everything we do.

Workforce: Our people are everything

We are immensely proud of our people at Agincare and the fantastic careers they have built. The resilience and resolve they used to pull together as one team with a shared purpose during the Covid pandemic was truly incredible.

As Agincare’s range and scale of services continue to develop and grow in the future, we know that it’s critical that our teams do likewise and that we continue to develop new skills and knowledge in the organisation. Workforce planning is essential to our success, and has never been more important with recruitment challenges felt particularly sharply not only in social care but also across society.

Our Agincare People Programme focuses on attracting, recruiting, retaining, developing and rewarding incredible people that share our passion for care. We’re committed to investing in continuous professional development for all our team members, with ongoing training and support in an environment where they can flourish and grow their career.

A highly skilled and motivated workforce not only benefits everyone that works for us but ultimately everyone that we support and deliver care for too.

Our first ever Agincare Hero Awards was a fabulous highlight of the year and showcased the extraordinary difference that social care, and those who work in it, make to people’s lives.

Market leaders and influencers

LEADERS

Agincare continues to stand strong in an environment where many others have failed or are failing. The experience, expertise and leadership of our teams to deliver essential care and support is recognised across the sector.

All of our achievements are due to a ‘whole team’ approach with support functions working seamlessly with operations teams to deliver high quality person centred care nationwide. The strength of our team ethos has never been more evident as we work ever closer with local authorities, and increasingly as part of evolving Integrated Care Systems with NHS partners.

INNOVATORS

We are one of the few care providers nationally that offer a comprehensive range of services, tailoring care to those we support as their needs change in a way that few other providers can. We believe this enables us to innovate, use resources, share skills, adapt and respond to future needs and opportunities.

We have piloted many innovative projects in response to recruitment challenges felt across the social care sector. That includes Agincare International, which has already welcomed over 200 new team members from overseas, and with an impressive retention rate of 98% this initiative is set to gather pace.

Agincare’s own skills and learning partner Training Now has gone from strength-to-strength, being rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, endorsed by Skills for Care and supporting over 350 apprentices. It delivers health and social care and business apprenticeships and courses nationwide, both to our own teams and in other organisations too.

INFLUENCERS

Our teams contribute to national, regional and local policy, publications, panels and forums including government. This underlines Agincare’s place as market leaders and strong lobbyists for social care reform, funding and a long-term workforce strategy.

The excellence of our team members is recognised at key sector awards, and we support care associations at regional and local levels. Agincare Chief Executive Raina Summerson is an Ambassador for John’s campaign, which stands up for the crucial role of family members in caring for people living with dementia.
