Members of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command’s legal services center host a mock trial for Kaiserslautern High School students, like junior Kelly Marshall (pictured), April 26 on Kleber Kaserne. The event was part of a series of activities to commemorate Law Day. Law Day was established in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower as a celebration for the cultivation of the respect for law that is vital to the democratic way of life. In 1961, Congress designated May 1 as Law Day. The 21st TSC lawyers have been assisting students across the KMC in celebrating Law Day for more than 16 years. This year’s theme was “Realizing the Dream: Equality for All.” Before the trial, 21st TSC lawyers gave students classes on opening and closing statements, criminal law and investigations, direct and cross examinations, introducing exhibits, court reporter duties, rules of evidence, and prosecutions and defense strategies to help them prepare.

Honor society donates to Chaplain’s Closet
Women as Leaders
Not even the rain could stop Ramstein High School National Honor Society members from delivering $1,000 of supplies to the Chaplain’s Closet. NHS sponsor Betty Slusny said the Chaplain’s Closet is a worthy cause because it provides toiletries and other basic necessities for military members who are injured during their service overseas.
Col. Barbara R. Holcomb speaks to Ramstein High School students about the challenges she has overcome, the individuals who assisted her and the skills she needed to become a successful female leader in the Army during a Women as Leaders presentation at the school.
