ENCOURAGE YOUR TEAM TO BRANCH OUT

• Set a goal for your team to connect with at least 1 new person in the organization each month and invite them to a short meet and greet. • Have your team [proactively establish strong relationships with members of departments whose work impacts your own and discuss ways to create more synergy moving forward.

ENCOURAGE YOUR TEAM TO SHARE IDEAS

• Have your team keep a list of ideas that have not been implemented and refer to the list every few months.

The idea that previously could not be implemented may be able to be implemented in time. • Create a culture where ideas are not judged harshly but are considered and appreciated when brought forward. • Have your team bring ideas forward for working more efficiently and effectively.

ENCOURAGE TEAMWORK

• Make it clear that as a leader you value teamwork and are expecting it of the team. • Set aside time in each team meetings for your team to share important updates. • Recognize team players for being outstanding collaborators in team meetings. • Create and send hand-written cards to employees for being outstanding team players.

PROMOTE KNOWLEDGE SHARING

• Create a knowledge sharing database for your team. • Task each person to train another person on the team as their back up. • Have a subject matter expert from your team present to the others at a team meeting. • Create an Achieve365 goal or individual development plan based on knowledge sharing.

BUILD COMMUNITY

• Engage in teambuilding activities, whether virtual or in person, designed to enhance the team’s understanding of each other. • Talk about the qualities of the team you are proud of and what areas need to be developed. • Encourage the team to have fun together even when they are working.
