KNOW YOUR COMPETITORS

• Many times, employees state that they know peers at competing employers who are getting paid more.
However, they may not know the comparison is not always apples to apples. Some questions to ask about the competing employer could be: Are the jobs the same, are the hours the same, is the target audience the same?
UNDERSTAND EQUITY
• Help your team understand that equity is not the same as equality. Equality would mean that everyone with the same job title gets the same pay. Equity means that people are paid based on a variety of factors such as the differences in knowledge, skills, and abilities that your team members bring to a position. • Internal equity analyses are periodically performed at Adtalem to ensure there is fair pay among similarly situated employees.
UNDERSTAND SALARY BANDS
• Adtalem utilizes broad salary bands that are structured in a stepwise manner. • This enables employees to grow their salary while they are in the job level. • There is overlap between the salary bands to allow employees who are at the top of one salary band in their current job level to easily transition to a new salary band at a higher job level.
