F ROM THE E DITOR I’m continuing the series of lessons that God the Father has taught this father…

Lessons from the Father “There are times that our Father needs our attention.” Often while watching a kids show on PBS, our boys will be engrossed in the program. This often creates hardships whenever I need Clay or Cam’s attention. You can mention their name & speak to them loudly, but oftentimes they will not even acknowledge that you have even spoken. To break the mental & attention hold the TV has on the boys, I have at times used a variety of methods including everything from clapping loudly, standing between them & the TV, or even turning the TV off. Once any one of these approaches is successful it’s as if the boys have entered back into reality & I have their undivided attention. There are also times in our lives in which God needs our undivided attention. He may be telling us that we should avoid something that will injure us or of some special surprise He has planned. He may have to allow things to come into our lives to get our attention or simply step in between us & the distraction.

HARMONY HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH 1701 East Salem Drive Independence, MO 64056 Bro. Ron Keogh, Pastor

Hello from Harmony, With July's continuous heat scorching us all here at Harmony we are still in full swing of updating our kitchen. It is looking GREAT so far! John and Leslie Tuckness have done an outstanding job of getting the wallpaper torn down, walls textured and even painting the basement ceiling to prep for the renovations to come. This heat has also taken a toll on the central air unit at our MEADOWSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH 1406 South Rouse Pittsburg, KS 66762 Bro. Aaron Polok, Pastor

Greetings once again from Meadowside. As the kids prepare to head back to school, a fast and busy summer is preparing to come to an end. It's been a good summer for Meadowside and all praise to our Lord and Savior for directing our paths. VBS was held the week of June 25 with a trip back to "Lava Lava Island" which we presented in 2004. It was answer to a director's prayer to see kids who attended in 2004 now willing to serve and help at VBS. Four young girls accepted Jesus Christ as their savior. It was a good week and Mahalo to everyone who helped. Bro. Aaron and Sis. Jenae took the youth to SOAR (Sold Out And Radical) in Grapevine, Texas, the first week in July. It was good to have Ryan Wydick from Mt. Olive bring the evening message on July 15. The next morning our campers and sponsors loaded up and headed to Beth-Eden. They always look forward to camp and we look forward to their going and returning "fired up" to take on the Lord's work. By reports, there were 108 campers with more than 30 accepting Jesus Christ as their savior and others rededicating their lives to the Lord and still others wanting to go into mission work. Then it was time to go. Everyone pitched in and got the decorations up and everything was ready on time. What a wonderful experience for us to be able to share God's Word again through our VBS. We met some wonderful children and adults and the time went by so fast. Saturday morning before we left was a fun and relaxing time for us. Bro. Jamie arranged for us to go to Smithville Lake to do some swimming, boating, just good old fellowshipping with one another. It was a great time and we praise the Lord for the opportunity He gave to us.

NORTH LAKE CHURCH (SMITHVILLE, MO MISSION) Bro. Jamie Jones, Missionary

Dear Friends, Thank you for your continued prayers and support of the work in Smithville, MO. We have had a tremendous beginning to 2012. We have seen 10 express their decision to be disciples of Christ, and have watched God change lives. We also baptized 10 believers on July 22nd, and enjoyed a great day of fellowship and celebration. We have two others that plan to be baptized in the future, and we pray that God continues to add to this list. God continues to open doors for relationship building as we seek to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit. Our LifeGroups have increased, fellowship remains great, and North Lake is being presented opportunities for ministry. Thank you for being a part of what God is doing. Last week we held our 2nd annual campfire fellowship" on September 25th - 27th. Campfire fellowship consists of food, friends, fire, & lots of laughs. The food was great, the fellowship among friends was quite enjoyable, and the laughs were plentiful.

The best part however, was the engaging discussions. We chose to focus on faith and studied John 4:43-54, in which Jesus heals the nobleman's son from a distance. The first night started with a question: "Where are you in your faith?" That may seem like a simple question, but it led to a great discussion and some honesty among friends. We learned that on a scale of 1 -10, many were as low as 2, and some were as high as 9 in their faith. We also admitted/confessed that our faith often fluctuated with circumstances. It was a good evening that got better as the night was ending. Sherri, a newcomer to North Lake announced that she had made her peace with God and placed her faith in Christ on Monday morning. Prayers had been answered, as many had been praying for that very thing. Tears were shed and faith grew that night. On night two of the faith discussion we

asked: "What would it take for your faith to grow?" Many answer's were given, but one sticks out to me, " W a tch ing so meo n e co m e to Christ." No-one knew what was about to happen as a young teen named Samantha says' "I've been listening to what was said tonight, and I want faith". So, as the fire flickered, we shared the process of salvation with Samantha and watched as God changed a life right before our eyes. Our faith was strengthened by watching what God does best, change people. You see, when God changes people it affects the faith of others. The healing of the nobleman's son in John 4 affected a lot of people. The nobleman went to Jesus in faith, his son was healed, his family became believers, and no doubt many who were under the authority of this nobleman were impacted by the miracle Jesus performed. God can work through your faith to bring about amazing impacts upon others. Now this is cool... Samantha is Sherri's daughter, and Samantha's dad Mike, was baptized in July of this year. God had been, and is still, working in the faith of this family. Enjoying watching God change lives, Jamie Jones

On August 2-4, 2012, the senior pastors from Calvary, Cornerstone, Faith, Glenview, Grace, and Heritage churches plus leaders from their congregations attended DiscipleWay Training at Cornerstone in Raymore MO. The emphasis was on discipling faithful men and women in our churches and, in turn, making them to be disciple-makers themselves to aid in a sustainable cycle and multiplication of mature believers. We had some good-natured fun times, great fellowship and mostly times of learning and reflection on our own lives. We studied the DiscipleWay format for instilling a mature walk with the Lord through Bible study, prayer, worship, service, giving, witnessing and leading. Most of the class did a share-your-faith workshop with the instructors on Thursday afternoon, too. The meals and the facilities of Cornerstone were top notch, as was the accessibility and scholarship of the trainers who gave of their time to spend the weekend with us. We will all be hearing more about DiscipleWay but be patient as it is engineered to start kind of small but can grow to a great help L-R James Bryan, Becky Mullin and Bro. P AGE 7 Sis. Debbie Swart is leading the women’s Bible study “When Godly People Do un-Godly Things”, and reports great attendance in both the morning and evening sessions. It is so important that we “seduce-proof” our lives and guard against Satan’s temptations, and these lessons deal with that very thing.

Bro. Kenneth Bobo joined us for a oneday Revival, and both convicted and blessed our hearts with his messages. He and Shirley are very dear to First Baptist, and we were blessed by their visit. Our church recently voted to complete a building project, adding over 2000 square feet of classroom space upstairs, and enlarging and remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms downstairs. We will also add and enclose a hallway which will tie to future building expansions. The walls are going up and we are getting excited to see this completed! And finally we say “Happy Anniversary” to Bro. Jeff and Sis, Debbie as they mark their third year with FBC. Time has flown, but it has been a fun, fruitful, and blessed three years. We thank God for bringing them our way, and (should the Lord stay His coming) pray for many more years serving in ministry together. WE LOVE YOU, Pastor Jeff and Sis. Debbie! officers and teachers for the upcoming year. Thanks to everyone for their service in accepting and filling the positions in the church. Also, a big thank you to the men of the church who dedicated Friday evening and all day Saturday, August 11 and 12, to installing the new flat screem television sets in the sanctuary. We were so excited Sunday morning to be able to use them and we know they are going to be a big asset to Meadowside's ministry. That evening some of our adults participated in a "Camp Quiz". Following the service, a time of fellowship celebrating Bro. Aaron's birthday and his first year as pastor was enjoyed by all. We are so thankful for Bro. Aaron and Sis. Jenae and their dedication to the Lord's work. Please continue to be much in prayer for them as they serve in and through Meadowside. Until next time . . . . Sharon Evans, reporter
