F ROM THE E DITOR I’m continuing the series of lessons that God the Father has taught this father…

Lessons from the Father “Being super is one step at a time.” As many of you know, our household is often populated by several superheroes. Most days we will have a visit from any one of Superman, Batman, Ironman, or Captain America. A gift that Clay received on his 6th birthday was the new VeggieTales video “League of Incredible Vegetables”. This is a play off of the more commonly known movie “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, only the vegetables are the superheroes. Within the video, Jr. Asparagus comes to the conclusion that it’s not the superhero suit that makes a superhero “super”. For those of you who want to be a superhero, it’s as simple as making the next right choice over & over again. “A hero is the kind of thing that you were born to be. But you don’t need to soar or speed or swim under the sea. You just need to be yourself, so strong and brave and true. And soon you’ll see that you can be a super hero, too!” taken from: “You’re a Hero! All the Ways you Save the Day” by Keion Jackson, Copyright 2012 Hallmark Licensing, LLC

M ISSIONS D IRECTOR R EPORT As we near the time we recognize the Savior’s birth, let us be reminded that the Christmas season is all about giving. God set the tone of this season by giving the greatest gift ever given; Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son. Christ gave His life while on earth and through His vicarious death at Calvary. He continues to give of Himself as our mediator between us and our heavenly Father. Our missionaries also give of themselves to serve their local areas and our association in a

very special and sacrificial way. Please remember then in your prayers as they go through this Christmas season serving their local communities: Bro. Jamie Jones and family in Smithville, Missouri, Bro. Brad Faulk and family in Pasco, Washington; Bro. Bogdan Bilav and Daniela in Romania and our new additions approved at our recent Mission’s Rally, Bro. John Herring and his family who will be working in Nixa, Missouri and Bro. Jesse Hales and his wife, Rebecca, who will be going to the Dominican Republic. Bro. Jamie Jones shared his excitement for the upcoming year as they are planning for 2013.

They continue to do a great work in Smithville and have now added an associate pastor to help with the work. Bro. Brad Faulk shared a story about a former drug user who has been saved by the grace of God and is now using the Bible for a much different reason. Continue to pray for all our missionaries and consider the spirit of giving when it comes to our mission work here in Kansas and Western Missouri. May God bless you all is my prayer. Fred A. Vogel

MEADOWSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH 1406 South Rouse Pittsburg, KS 66762 Bro. Aaron Polok, Pastor

Thanksgiving and Christmas has come and gone and we now have entered into a new year. As we bid farewell to 2012 and look forward to 2013 with anticipation, we must remember to ask God to guide us throughout the year and that our lives will be pleasing to Him. Lucas House, a young missionary serving in Milawi, Africa, was with us on October 7. Our VBS offering was given to Lucas to help with his ministry. Lucas is the youngest son of former members Joel and Jane House. Lucas preached the morning message, followed by lunch and a time of fellowship, then ended with Lucas sharing photos from Africa and seeing how God is using him to spread the gospel. It was an enjoyable day and getting to meet Lucas was a blessing. Meadowside hosted the annual Walk for the World on October 13. Sis. Michelle Hardister was our co-ordinator. Bro. Greg mapped and cut out a course around our church property for the walk. Soup and chili were served along with several desserts and drinks. It was good

Greetings to all from Faith Missionary Baptist Church. I would like to take some time to let everyone know all that has gone on at our church. We are saddened that Pastor Allen Ettinger has resigned from the pulpit at our church. We have elected Joseph Smith as our full time pastor as of November of 2012. We would like to take this time to welcome Pastor Joseph and Tori Smith to our

The Tim Gould Family was with us and blessed us with their praise of our Lord and Savior in song. Following the morning service, a pot luck dinner was served in our Activity Center. After stomachs were filled and clean up taken care of, everyone returned to the sanctuary for an additional time of praise and worship by our church family. It was a good day in God's House and we praise Him for another year to honor Him through Meadowside. December was a busy month. Bro. Aaron and our choir practiced long and hard for our Christmas service. It was a beautiful time and we thank them so much. A short play entitled "What Is Christmas All About" was led by Sharon Evans and 7 "volunteers" during our evening service on December 9. The youth presented their Christmas program on Sunday evening, December 16. The Christmas Story was read and presented by Alex Evans and Lilly Thompson as Joseph and Mary, Chloe Watson and Dakota Murry as angels, and Zac Evans as a shepherd. They then recited "Christmas church. We would like to let you know the changes that have taken place since Joseph has taken the position as pastor of our church. We have incorporated the contemporary style of worship along with our hymnals worshiping. We are now running three to five Sunday school class on a regular basis our Sunday school attendance is running now an average of 20 each Sunday. We have had six baptisms and we have had one rededication and six salvations. We have placed a discipleship program in every new believer’s life. We have now thanks to Glenview Baptist Church sharing there

Bro. Aaron and Sis. Jenae held a "Polok Christmas Open House" on Sunday afternoon, December 16. It's always fun to be together and share this special season with one another. Our prayers are extended to Craig and RaeDene Bryson on the death of RaeDene's father on Sunday morning, December 23. He was 88 years old and resided in Carthage. He will be missed by family and friends. In our last morning service of 2012, Bro. Aaron's message was "The Return of Christ", reading from I Cor. 15:50-58. Caleb Hardister led our evening music service and Bro. Paul Mooney brought the evening message reading from Phil. 3:13-14. Following the service, Bro. Aaron and Sis. Jenae invited everyone to their house to close out 2012. We want to thank everyone for their service for the Lord in 2012. Your dedication and love for the Lord is admired and greatly appreciated. Until next time . . . Sharon Evans, reporter materials with us have begun the young believers in our church two times a week. Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evenings and pleased to announce almost everyone has already learned 5 memory verses. We will be soon starting the celebration recovery program through our church anyone interested in helping or getting involved please contact pastor Joseph Smith at (816) 359-9426. LifeGroups now meet on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and we have increased participation and fellowship among the folks.

NORTH LAKE CHURCH (SMITHVILLE, MO MISSION) Bro. Jamie Jones, Missionary

(Editor’s Note:This report is the culmination of 2 submissions, one from Dec ‘12 & another from Feb ‘13) Dear Friends, As we near the end of the year, we are getting ready to restart several of our LifeGroups in January 2013. I ask that you pray that 2013 would be a great year for North Lake Church. Please pray that our LifeGroups become solid representations of a biblical community inside of the Smithville community. Please pray that God brings people who need Him into the homes of our people, and that we welcome them with the grace of God. That we would see growth in spirit and in number. Please pray that God would pour out a desire in us to live out our vision of: Authenticity in our faith, as we build Relationships with those who need a relationship with Him, and that our Community would be impacted by the Spirit of God working through us. 2013 has begun, and we are greeting the new year with a renewed focus upon the original vision for North Lake Church. 2012 was a great year, we

want this year to be better. In 2012 God blessed us with witnessing 12 salvations and 10 baptisms. We also began to expand our LifeGroups and reach out to single moms in our community. It has been a blessing to be active in helping single moms in our community. Just this month there was a 6 year old little girl who lost her dad. We, as a church family, were able to help with the childcare expense that this mother will see in the coming year. Praise the Lord for allowing us this opportunity to work in our community. Several of the LifeGroups that we began in 2012 did not work out. God definitely worked in and through them, but we are still learning and tweaking them so that we can reach our full potential in discipleship and relationship building in our community. After prayer, we funneled down multiple groups into two major groups. These

We know that people here need the Lord. There have been two suicides in Smithville during January. There was also another back in the later part of 2012... Many people here are hurting. If you look around you might not even notice but debt, divorce, a lack of meaningful relationships, etc... plague this town, and I am sure the areas around you. I am asking Holy Spirit to move among us, to open doors for relationships that we can build upon Christ. A true and lasting relationship with Christ is the only relationship that will provide true hope and purpose for people today, and forever. Please pray with us for the salvation of souls here in this place, and for a zeal among the people of North Lake for Jesus and His message. In the midst of the those needs, we are seeing God move. On January 13th, Matthue Parker preached his first gospel message. Matthue is 16, and we were very proud of him. May God use him for HIs glory! Thank you for the continued prayers and support, Jamie Jones
