Why Multiplication Exists by Scott Attebery

Revelation 7:9-10 reveals a future scene in heaven. “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’” Did you catch that? Heaven will be inhabited by people from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages. Question: How will people from every nation, tribe, people and language get there? It’s not by accident. God has been planning worldwide worship from the beginning. In the very first book of the Bible, God instructed Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28). Why? “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14).” After the flood, God repeated the command to Noah: “Be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis (“The Law…” Continued on page 7)

F ROM THE E DITOR I’m continuing the series of lessons that God the Father has taught this father… Lessons from the Father “Our time is priceless”. A couple weekends ago, the family took an extended weekend trip to Branson, MO. We planned a trip to watch our first Springfield Cardinals baseball game & a full day at Silver Dollar City. Also as part of this trip, we signed up to do something I had fiercely avoided for well over 30 years, a tour of a timeshare property. What we were promised was a 90minute tour of beautiful property & inviting amenities.. The property was very nice, but what we ended up with was a stressful 3+hr experience that robbed our family of our joy & precious time that can never be replaced. Thankfully our day was saved in the end by meeting up with John, Alisha, Dalton, & Macey Herring at Silver Dollar City. We enjoyed several rides & a nice show in the midst of “KidsFest”. Even better was the time we spent afterwards with the family at a small family restaurant. “You don’t know the first thing about tomorrow. You’re nothing but a wisp of fog, catching a brief bit of sun before disappearing.” James 4:14b (MSG)

HERITAGE BAPTIST CHURCH 927 N. Olive Nevada, MO 64772 Bro. Jeff Adams, Pastor

Greetings from Heritage We are saddened with the loss of our Piano player and her husband recently. They moved to Texas with their daughter because of health reason in January. In May Bro. Chuck passed on to be with the Lord. His funeral was on Wednesday, they brought him back to Nevada for the funeral, that morning Sis. Joyce had a heart attack and was flown to St. Luke’s in K.C. where she passed away the following Saturday night. We are rejoicing because we are confident they are with the Lord. Thank God for faithful witnesses such as these two people. We are rejoicing that we had a

husband and wife join our church on May 19th. James and Elginia Strawn came from a Sister BMAA Church in North Little Rock Ark. What a joy they have been to our church. Tony Lawson also came forward on the 19th to be baptized and we will be baptizing him on June 23. Tony was in Freeman Hospital in Joplin where Bro. Paul Mooney visited him and led him to the Lord. Praise the Lord! Pray for Bro. Tony, he lost his earthly father on June 15. We were able to have a float this year in our Bushwhacker Parade. Melanie and I have wanted to do this for seven years and this is the first time we have been able to. Thank you to all those who helped! We just wanted to get Heritage’s name out there and wouldn’t you know we got sec-

ond place in the adult division. Yakov Smirnoff say, “What a country”, I want to say, “What a God !” We really serve a GREAT BIG GOD! Bro. Jamie Jones will be bringing some people to our church on June 30th during our evening Service to give their testimony. FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH P.O. Box 218 Galena, KS 66739 Bro. Jeff Swart, Pastor

Greetings to our sister churches! May was a very busy month! Our 25th Annual Mother's Day Banquet brought together 185 women and girls to celebrate one of God's greatest gifts: Mothers! We had a wonderful time fellowshipping, the meal was delicious and the program was both funny and convicting. Amber Spencer was our main speaker and she brought a fantastic message. She is a very gifted and talented speaker, and is ready to be used of the Lord for women/girls events. If you have an event coming up and need a funny, uplifting, convicting, and Biblically sound speaker, she's your gal. And then we honored our mothers in the Mother's Day worship service, with several of them receiving special gifts. Our Graduates were also honored with a serviced dedicated to GLENVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH 3101 Shrank Road Independence, MO 64055 Bro. Dan McGee, Pastor

God job, Graduates! We closed our Awana year with a picnic and award ceremonies. Several family members attended, and quite a few of our Clubbers received ribbons, trophies, and certificates. Our youth are busy raising money to attend SOAR in July, and they are enjoying their new youth room, also. It is for the 6th - 12th graders, and has plenty of game tables and boards to keep everyone busy! Congratulations to Gabe Shoemaker on achieving the rank of The Clothes Closet was open Saturday, June 8th. This is an outreach that serves our Community. We are thankful we can help our neighbors in this Ministry. Pastor Dan and Leah got away for a few days and spent some time in Arkansas with Leah’s parents. We are thankful they returned to us safely. We have a busy Summer planned with Church Camp and Vacation Bible School coming up.

Eagle Scout! He received his award at a Court of Honor, and we are so proud of him, not only for completing the steps needed but for the character he possesses. He is setting a great example for us all. We invite everyone to join us on Saturday, July 27th @ 2:00pm for the Ordination Service for Jesse Hales. Then on Sunday, July 28th we will have a Sending Service for him and Rebecca, as they will leave shortly after that for language school and the mission field. They will be sorely missed around here, but we know they will make huge contributions to the Kingdom on the field! We continue to pray that the Lord will send someone to work with our youth, and we pray for our sister churches that God will be glorified in all they do.In His Service, Leigh Ryan, Reporter

Please pray for Joan McGee as she recovers from Knee Surgery. Also pray for Renee Morash. She has been having some test run. As our Church Family plans for vacations this summer we ask you to pray with us for their traveling safety. Gladys Boatright

Doing Missions in Real Life We are enjoying getting to know Nixa, MO and the surrounding areas. We're learning some back roads (you might ask Alisha about her chance to learn these) and some good hangouts. In the process, we are working hard at becoming a part of the community here in Nixa by simply living our lives here and beginning to develop relationships. We do have some events where we are 'scheduled' to do missions in a variety of ways including Prayer Walking, Servant Evangelism, Community Involvement and more. But we're also continuing to learn that missions is not just a 'scheduled' event, but it is what you do every day as you live your life and meet people in a variety of environments. The term that is most commonly used to describe this is 'Missional Living'. Which simply means to intentionally live each day with the idea that God can use you to change someones life for eternity. There are a few things that we could share with you from our journey so far about Missional Living:  It requires us to be Intentional! We can become distracted with day to day life including our

sons school, daughter's development, wife's job, bills, health issues and other unexpected distractions. It can be easy to get into a routine and find a comfort zone. But we have decided to be intentional about how we live. This requires us to think about ways to be where people are daily. It includes things like playing in the front yard instead of the back yard, hanging out at a coffee shop or McDonald's playground instead of staying in the comforts of our living room.  It requires us to speak the first words! The fact is simply this, when we intentionally live our

lives around people we still need to talk to them. This usually requires us to speak the first words. It means that we're the ones who look for a way to start a conversation and begin to connect with the people we are around. It can be finding some common ground (i.e. kids, weather, job, sports, etc...) that could start things off. We also have the added line that we have used with some success, "We're new in town and are trying to find ...". This usually leads to a conversation about many things including where we moved from, why we moved here, etc…  It requires us to be consistent! This isn't just a one day event but living life in a way that will

make a difference to those around us. This requires us to not only be intentional and be bold enough or brave enough to speak the first words, but also consistently do this day after day, week after week. We have to continue the conversation, remember names, remember places and work at loving and valuing people as Christ does.

(“The Law…” Continued from page 1)

9:7). Later, God told Abraham that all nations would be blessed through him (Genesis 12:2). God repeated that promise to Abraham’s son, Isaac, and grandson, Jacob (Genesis 26:4, 28:14). Multiplication holds incredible potential for growth. Think about how a person’s descendants multiply as each generation passes. For example, Tim and Pam have two children who have two children each who have two children each. After three generations, Tim and Pam’s descendants have increased from two to 14! They have been fruitful and multiplied their physical legacy. Spiritually speaking, the concept is the same. God has chosen to make worshippers of all nations by multiplying worshippers through their spiritual legacies. It is called discipleship. Examples fill the pages of scripture: Moses discipled Joshua. Elijah discipled Elisha; Eli discipled Samuel. John the Baptist discipled many, and Paul discipled Timothy. Jesus compared the power of multiplication to the growth of a mustard seed (the smallest of all seeds) into a strong tree full of branches and leaves (Luke 13:18-19). Maybe you feel as spiritually significant as a mustard seed right now. But that is the beauty of God’s design. He chooses the small, seemingly insignificant people in this world and does mighty things through them. Consider the power of multiplication in the book of Acts. Chapter six tells us, “the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem exceedingly” (6:7). The momentum of multiplication powered a mighty mission movement in the Church. And the mission movement empowered multiplication. Even in the midst of great persecution, “the word of God grew and multiplied” (12:24). After just three decades, the early church had experienced 400 percent growth! Do you feel the power of multiplication? The task of discipleship is not busy-work; it is the work. Jesus issued only one plan to achieve worldwide worship — making disciples. He banked his entire ministry on it. And He will not return until people from all nations respond to the gospel (Matthew 24:14).
