B APTIST H ERALD J ULY /A UGUST 2012 Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! What an exciting week it has been! We were a little low this year in attendance but God was present in the camp! We were saddened by the fact that some of you weren‟t present this year Sis. Connie Prawl we are sorry you could not make it this year you have been in our prayers. Sis. Gladys Boatright we missed you, Northlake Church, Harmony Heights, Crossroads, and all you individual campers; you were missed. Brother Andy allowed the Holy Spirit to work through him as he spoke the word. Sharing with us how we should continue in the Gospel even after we are saved it. It is not just to get us saved but it keeps us close to God always. The Spirit was very evident this week. I know Bro. Jeff and Sis. Debbie must be very proud of this man of God, their son. I also really enjoyed the music this year I believe Caleb really set the tone for worship this year. Thank you sponsors! I know I tried to mention people this year that really helped out and I failed to mention some but you are the reason we have such a great camp. The angels are rejoicing in Heaven we had 8 saved, 2 surrendered to missions, 16 surrendered to the ministry, and 14 rededicated their lives to the Lord. Our theme this year was “Secular or Sacred” from Joshua 24:15 and our quiz was over II Kings and Jonah. I am really looking forward to next year. Our theme is going to be “Get a Life” from John 10:10 and our Quiz is going to be over the book of John. We are going to be doing things a little bit different this coming year. We are looking at bringing the BB gun shoot back and trying to do a few other things. Brother Dan passed out candy for the quiz‟s this year you never know what he might do next year so study up and bring your quiz team next year. Jeff Adams Camp Director „12

F ROM THE E DITOR I’m continuing the series of lessons that God the Father has taught this father…

Lessons from the Father “God‟s in the driver‟s seat.” Last week our family was blessed to be a part of KOAM Encampment at Beth Eden Bible Camp near Conway, MO. While we were there, Clay & Cameron got a special treat on several of the nights & got to sit up in our lap & drive the car while on the camp property. They were often excited to jump up into the seat & drive. Typically as we got going though their attention would find its way elsewhere than the road ahead. As the hills & the turns would come, Daddy would have to take control & make the corrections necessary so that we make it safely down the correct path. That‟s very much what happened this week to so many kids. They were sitting in the driver‟s seat of their lives expecting to do their own thing, yet God has called them to a much higher calling. He‟s taken control & is steering their lives down the path He has for their lives. To each of you that went forward on Thursday night or made any life changing decision at camp this year, God undoubtedly WOWED me this year.. Make Him proud & lift Him up with your lives in whatever direction He leads!

We were rec e n t l y blessed with some of the youth and adults from Northlake coming to Joplin and spending the first part of their summer vacation serving as volunteers here in Joplin through the Grace Baptist Church. They cut and delivered some firewood to an elderly individual and help another sweet elderly lady with some repairs to her home. They were a blessing to us here at Grace. It is great to see our churches reaching out to help others.

HARMONY HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH 1701 East Salem Drive Independence, MO 64056 Bro. Ron Keogh, Pastor

Hello from Harmony, June was a busy month. We had our SKY! Themed Vacation Bible School June 18th-23rd. We all had a great time! There were 35 children registered that week and one child was saved. Praise God! There were a lot of fun crafts, songs, games and great bible study. We had our family night on Saturday this year with a Program and tons of fun and food for all the families. We received nightly donations from the children to raise money for mosquito nets in Africa. We are proud to anLIGHTHOUSE BAPTIST CHURCH 8th & Shawnee Kansas City, KS 66105

Greetings from Lighthouse Baptist Church! Sorry we haven't written lately but now we have some news to share. Fist off, please keep our church in your prayers. We need God's guidance to know what He would have done with this ministry. Our numbers are down to just 6 of us most Sundays. We keep trying, sharing the Good News, inviting neighbors, friends and former members, and of course praying. We are looking into participating in the "Back To Church Sunday" movement and make a big push to get people to try church again on Sunday September 16th. I believe God will let us know if he still wants us here or not.

nounce that the children raised a little and some with surgeries coming up soon. We appreciate any and all prayers over $180.00 through the week! We also had the Harper Family come to for these members please. Pastor Ron sing one Sunday morning and they were Keogh found out recently that his a huge blessing to the church! The parsonage has also received some special attention lately. We are replacing the old and out dated air conditioner with a brand new one next week so the pastor and his family and continue to keep cool this summer.

Bye for now~ Cathy Proctor Reporter

With all the blessings here at Harmony we also have some prayer requests as well for some of our members. We have had several sick, some with cancer We do have some great news. First, we got A letter and a check from the bank today verifying we have paid off our parsonage! Just think, a 30 year loan paid off in just 10 years. Only God can make things like that happen. Now we need to go to work on it to make it livable again. We either need it ready for a Pastor to move in to or we need it in good enough shape to make it sellable sometime in the future. Either way, God is in control and He will direct our paths.

Stallings surrendered to the ministry and made a commitment to serve God in a greater way. This is such a blessing. Please keep these two young men in your prayers as well as all the others that committed to Ministry and Missions at camp. Praise God for those that accepted Christ as their savior! Pray with us for Dorotha Lingelbach. Her health has been a struggle since her heart attack and pacemaker surgery during camp last year.

So, that's it for now. May God richly Next good news? Camp was a fantastic bless each of our churches. May you all experience for our 2 boys that at- serve Him in a great and might way. tended. soon but she wants to work hard in VBS and has really spearheaded a drive because she says she don't want to see the devil get the victory so keep her in prayer.

We hope everyone is having a fun summer and keeping cool. At Faith in Independence in the past few months, we are trying to expand our activities and try new things to help people; which sometimes isn't easy when one's local calendar is stacked against the calendar(s) of larger entities. When we can do this it is always rewarding fellowship, be it local or in a wider associational context. Example: we went to a local mini-golf, gaming and go-karts place with a sister church or two and had a good time on a Friday night.

The same week, Linda Richards was bringing her mother to the city to celebrate a birthday and the two of them were hit from the rear by other car(s) at an intersection a few miles from home. They both were taken to a trauma center and really didn't look good that night; but God has come through for them and they are recuperating nicely. Also I did 50 hours at work the week before camp; and there are a lot of hurting people at work who need the Lord as well as Christians in all our families who are sick and struggling. Prayer is an aweGoing back to spring, we had an some force and God has chosen to Easter egg hunt at Faith so we could work it in us and work it out through meet some kids and families and sign His mysterious ways of answering. them up for a VBS. Two of us are anticipating the training we will get at a DiscipleWay training event at Cornerstone in August. We hope we can put it to work and we appreciate Bro. David Mullin getting it set up.

On our Wednesdays I have taken a short break from studying and leading and we have been going thru a DVD series based upon the Jewish fall feasts and presenting them as a lens to look upon the earthly ministry of Jesus and the future coming and rule of Jesus through. They are interesting. When they conclude we are going to look at DiscipleWay and I also will teach my camp study outlines from 2012.

Starting 2 weeks before camp our church was shocked to find out that Connie Prawl had to go to E.R. on a Sun. afternoon. She had been sick and she had gallbladder problems that also blocked her pancreas. She missed The KOAM camp this year was the camp and is going to set up surgery spiritual high point for the year. Par-

ticularly I was blown away by two of the services plus the worship and just seeing God at work. Many surrendered to serve God in ministry and missions and quite a few were born again. Hold all of them in your prayers and mentor them if you're in position to do so. The reports on Facebook and in the Herald from all our churches have shown that God is at work. Let's join in. Moral Action Dr. John M. Adams Executive Director D.O.M.A. The 1st Circuit court of Appeals in Boston, MA, ruled the Defense of Marriage Act (D.O.M.A.) unconstitutional. The three judge panel stated that the D.O.M.A. law defining marriage “as a union between a man and a woman” deprives gay couples of rights and privileges granted to heterosexual couples. The vow of President Obama was to dismantle and destroy D.O.M.A. He pledged this even before he was elected. Be in prayer, as D.O.M.A. will now head to the United States Supreme Court over its “constitutionality.” Christians need to PRAY, PRAY, PRAY that D.O.M.A. will be upheld. Pray for the judges, Senators, and Representatives who are faithful to stand and support marriage in it’s true Biblical form.
