F ROM THE E DITOR I’m continuing the series of lessons that God the Father has taught this father… Lessons from the Father “As long as we are fallen, all of our greatest accomplishments are opportunities for great sin”. Often our boys will go to bed with a set of Biblical stories playing from Adventures in Odyssey. I was in their room recently listening as the story of the Tower of Babel episode came on. The episode itself is a fictional story based on the story from the book of Genesis. A young boy named Nathaniel believes that a united mankind can overcome anything. In the story, Eugene & Nathaniel go back in time to relive the story using a futuristic “time machine” (the Imagination Station). Not only are Eugene & Nathaniel forced into slave labor, but nearly also witness the act of human sacrifice (instead they witness the salvation of God as those building the tower are confused & can no longer communicate in the same language). In this day & age, we are constantly becoming more technically advanced. We’ve seen advancements in every facet of the imagination, but each of those advancements (as the episode says) is an opportunity for sin. And any one of those sins will begin with the sin of pride (forgetting God). In all that you do, in the many accomplishments that come your way, remember to acknowledge our heavenly Father & give Him the honor due to Him… He alone is worthy.  "Adventures in Odyssey" is a registered trademark of Focus on the Family.  More details on “The Tower” episode using the following URL: http://www.aiowiki.com/wiki/The_Tower

M ISSIONS D IRECTOR R EPORT Having just returned from visiting our new missionary in Nixa, Missouri, I am excited about the work there. They also had another family from their team move here the same weekend and a third family from their team is interviewing for a job in the Nixa area and will be moving soon. God is already moving in a mighty way in Nixa. Bro, Jamie Jones is now in their fifth year on the field in Smithville. The blessings have far outweighed the struggles, and the lives that have been changed have made it very much worth the investment. He went on to say, “I have learned a lot as I have taught new believers and healing believers about the authentic Jesus. When we set out to follow God in this endeavor, reaching people who did not a have a personal relationship with Jesus was our goal. We asked God to use us to reach those who were hurting, and those who need to have their wounds healed. I want to tell you that God has done just that. I remember thinking, and saying several times that “this

church planting, missionary stuff is hard work”. Indeed, it has been. I have had the privilege of watching Jesus take some very messy lives and make them into a masterpiece for His glory. When Jesus changes one life it affects others, as we have seen whole families come to Christ. Right now we are trying to spring forward at North Lake. I have recently completed a prayer retreat in which I sought answers from God about our next few months and years in this ministry. That retreat led me to set some goals for North Lake.” Some of the prayer requests from Bro. Jamie that in the next 6 months God will change multiple lives through salvation, double their average worship attendance of 30 or so to 65, and use North Lakers to invite one person weekly to “come and see” what He God doing through their church family. He also wants to add a LifeGroup, see their offerings double, and for North Lake Church become a healthy church by being spiritually passionate, enjoy inspiring worship gatherings, maintain a family-like atmosphere that adopts others regularly, be involved in relationship evange-

lism and service evangelism, share their lives in LifeGroups, help others to find and utilize their gifts for the kingdom, empower leaders and use effective systems & structures. Bro. Jesse Hales is continuing his deputation work and has remained very busy visiting church in Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. Please add the following birthdays and anniversaries to you list of our missionaries here in our state work.  Jesse Hales – Jan 20  Rebecca Hales – Nov 24  Jesse & Rebecca* – May 22  John Herring – Aug 5  Alisha Herring – Aug 15  John & Alisha* – Mar 17  Dalton Herring – Jan 23

NORTH LAKE CHURCH (SMITHVILLE, MO MISSION) Bro. Jamie Jones, Missionary

Dear Friends, God has been blessing North Lake. This last Wednesday night, during one of our LifeGroup meetings, I noticed that 7 out of the 12 people who sat in my living -room were new believers. He has plans for all 12, but it was neat to recognize those 7. Seeing how God has used them over the past couple of years has been enjoyable. We are looking forward to adding to that number of new believers in the near future. My new associate missionary, Jared Kathcart led a successful DiscipleNow weekend this last month. Our youth partnered with another church to complete GLENVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH 3101 Shrank Road Independence, MO 64055 Bro. Dan McGee, Pastor

It was good to welcome one of our most well-known missionaries, Bro. Doyle Moore and his wife Linda to our Sunday evening service on February 24. They were elected as missionaries to the Philippines in 1976 and he is the founder and Director of the BMA Bible Institute in Bacolod City. Then on Wednesday evening, February 27, Bro. Jesse Hales and his wife Rebecca were with us and gave us an update on their progress towards Haiti. On Sunday morning, March 24, we were going to have an opportunity to be encouraged and inspired by Bro. John Lindsey as he shares his life and work in Africa. However,

Sis. Jenae Polok will be speaking at the annual women's seminar on April 13, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Raymore, Mo. Our prayers are with her and this seminar. Resurrection Sunday was a beautiful celebration of our risen Savior, Jesus Christ. His victory over sin and death was proclaimed by Bro. Aaron's message, congregational singing, and special music provided by Rae Dene Bryson. Evening services were dismissed so families could share time with family and friends. The Lord's Supper was observed following our evening service on April 7.

We praise God for answering prayers on behalf of our church family. It's good to have Bro. Bob Buzzard and Sis. Virginia back in our services. Bro. Bob is recovering from health problems and we're just thankful they are able to get out and worship again with us. Sis. Jean Jack's husband is recovery from bypass surgery. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Bro. Aaron is finalizing plans for an "End of School Blowout" for our college students. There will be plenty of food, activities, and a live band for the festivities. Continue to pray for the college ministry as it continues to grow. God is so good to us. May He bless you all as you continue serving Him. Until next time ‌ Sharon Evans Reporter

Ladies Seminar 2013 Several ladies got together on April 13th at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Raymore MO. We had nine churches represented and some wonderful praise and worship time. Our theme this year was "God's Plan for Me" taken from Jeremiah 29:11. The speakers this year were Mrs. Jenae Polok from Meadowside Baptist Church in Pittsburg, KS and Mrs. Margaret Lindsey our missionary from Ghana, West Africa. What a wonderful blessing we received from the praise and worship songs that the ladies of Cornerstone lead us in. A special was sung - "Need You Now" to remind us how we need God. Linda Martin brought us a fun ice breaker that encouraged us to meet those in our group to find out who was married the longest, the shortest, who had the most siblings. What a fun way to meet our ladies. Then she brought a way for us to be reminded of the positive thoughts in a way of using rocks for us to paint and put the quotes on. Jenae Polok brought to us the morning message of God's plan in our life through good times, sad times, bad times and rough times. That through using not only Jeremiah 29:11, but taking it even further through the 12th, 13th and even the 14th verse. Through her life growing up, losing her father and then meeting the man God intended for her to marry (Aaron Polok), she has learned that God has a plan for her through it all. What a beautiful way to end her session with the song "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" to remind us of what God has said in Jeremiah 29:11. Margaret Lindsey brought to us the afternoon message of the Goals that we set and our foundations. She shared how God had brought fulfillment in her and her husband's life through their ministry in Ghana Africa. When you set goals, it is important to have a long term and a short term goal. In order to accomplish your goals that God has set for you it is important to have a desire in your heart to fulfill these goals. When these goals are fulfilled, you will see the fruit of your blessings. Make sure to have a good foundation for you to build on. One that doesn't leave you hungering, but helps you to fulfill your goals. Thanks to all of the ladies involved, the committee that put this together, the church that hosted it and brought a wonderful meal, the singers and the speakers. May God bless us all and help us to use what we learned. Becky Mullin State WMA reporter

WHAT HAS HAPPENED THIS MONTH? Thank you for praying for us in this journey as we seek to reach those who are lost and to plant a brand new church in Nixa, MO. Your prayers and support are valuable to us as we desire to make a difference in this region for Christ. Two weeks ago today we moved to Nixa and are excited about what God is going to do through the ministry of Refuge Church. Our new address is 1107 Verna Lane, Nixa, MO 65714. We also had another family from our team move here that same weekend and a third family from our team will move here in 6 weeks. It is exciting to see God bring us this far and begin to open doors of opportunity for us. OUR FIRST OUTREACH EVENT This past weekend we had our first intentional outreach to our neighbors. We took small gift bags of candy to about 60 houses and wished them a Happy Easter. These bags also had information about our church, which allowed us to have several conversations about Refuge Church. As a result, we have two families in our neighborhood who are already interested in learning more about how to become a part of our small groups when we start these and others that are interested in just getting to know us more in the days ahead. It’s exciting to see how God uses the simplest of things to engage in conversations and begin these relationships. MISSIONS TEAM COMING IN JUNE We are excited to have two missions teams coming towards the end of June to help us minister to the community and impact lives for His glory. We have one team coming from Brister Baptist Church (Brister, AR) and another team coming from Oasis Church (Central Arkansas). These teams will help us meet a lot of new people and also spread the word about Refuge Church in the community. Additionally, they will help us build prospects for our small group launch in July. Be praying for these teams and for God to use them in a mighty way to help us launch small groups in a BIG WAY. PRAYER NEEDS  Pray for those that are moving to Nixa to help start this new work that they would be able to find jobs quickly in the area He would have them to work.  Pray that God would add to our launch team in His timing. We're also praying that He would add a second pastor to our team who may also be able to lead worship.  Pray for missions teams that are coming in June.  Pray that God would continue to provide the partners needed to become fully funded.  Pray for us as we continue to travel and share about the vision of Nixa with other churches.  Pray for God to use us to reach the lost around us with the hope that only He can give.

Let’s see, where to begin? I guess the best place to start catching you up would be at our rental house in AR. Since we wrote to you last time we have been able to get it fixed up and on the market to sell. This is a big deal, because we really want to be out from under it before we head to language school in August. We could have never got it fixed up and ready to sell without the hands-on help from some very godly men and women with servant’s hearts! Thank you to all of you! The next big thing to happen was my (Jesse’s) quick trip to the Dominican Republic with Bro. David Dickson to meet with some of the pastors again and also figure out a few of the legal details of us moving there when it gets time. This was a very successful trip for me mainly because I felt like I was able to connect more with some of the pastors that I will be serving and working with in our ministry. I learned more about their current and ongoing needs that I would love to share with you if you are interested or looking for a project to get involved with. I also learned more about them personally as well as their plans and visions for the ministry there. I have come back with an even bigger burden for the children and churches. I’m more excited than ever about what God is already doing. One church that just finished planting a church is already preparing to plant another one. That’s just a couple of the great things that have gone on in the past month. Trust me, God is doing much more than that, but let me also give you a quick overview of what’s soon to come. Lord willing, by this time next week we will have gone through our association’s national meeting and our missionary status with the BMAA will be official. Rebecca’s last day of work is the 30th of this month and mine is set for May the 7th. On May 8th we leave for AR to start an almost 7 week journey away from home. On this journey we will speak at several churches in AR, CO, TX, NC, and SC. We will put over 3,800 miles on the car driving in 9 states on top of over 4,600 miles in the air. This trip will also include a week with my family, a week long medical mission trip back to the Dominican, and seeing the Grand Canyon. Less than a week later I will leave for another week and a half trip to visit more churches in TX. We are planning a big sell to get rid of most of our stuff in mid-July. We have a week long training at the end of July, ordination service July 27th, sending service the 28th and move to Costa Rica for language school around the first part of August. We will be visiting 40 churches between now and then, Lord willing. It’s a busy but very exciting time ahead. Thank you for praying for us, we will be needing it!
