GENERAL MANAGER’S

Peter Wood Message

Dear Members,

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Membership Survey. For the first time, we’ve introduced the Net Promoter Score (NPS) to help us better understand Member loyalty and overall satisfaction. This new benchmark—already used internally for staff feedback—will allow us to track progress more effectively year over year and guide improvements that matter most to you. While the full report is featured in this issue of Accent, I want to personally thank you for your input—every comment and rating plays a meaningful role in shaping the future of the Club.

As we approach the summer break, Management has been hard at work preparing an exciting lineup of events and offerings for the months ahead. Highlights include a sustainable green initiative with a beach clean-up and coral farm visit to Long Dong, alongside a creative series of workshops— from flower arranging and candle making to brewing your own kombucha and attending a U.S. tax update session.

Seasonal celebrations such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day will be marked in style, complemented by live music evenings at Rendezvous, Wine Circle gatherings, a couple of Sigi’s Deck pop-ups, World Wine Day with jazz, World Gin Day festivities, and a special Burgundy wine dinner. And of course, we’re all looking forward to our highly anticipated 4th of July Pool Party—falling on a Friday this year! Summer is also sports season: we’ve got the

basketball championship, an archery outing, and the return of the much-loved Friday night and Sunday afternoon pool festivities. During these special times, the pool transforms into a vibrant water playground filled with slides and inflatable fun, setting the stage for smiles, laughter, and the joyful screams of delighted children. Watching their pure excitement unfold is a reminder of what makes the Club so special—shared moments that become lifelong family memories.

Please note that some construction work will be taking place around the Club in the coming months. The refurbishment of Rendezvous is scheduled for May and June, followed by the Fitness Center upgrade in June and July. We already have exciting plans in place for the reopening of the new-look Rendezvous, including special European wine promotions to celebrate both French Bastille Day and World Wine Day. While construction is underway, we understand there may be some inconvenience, and we assure you that every effort will be made to minimize disruptions and maintain a comfortable environment for all Members throughout the process.

As summer approaches, I hope you’ll take advantage of the many activities and events we have planned across the Club. Whether you’re joining us for a few highlights or diving into the full lineup, we look forward to sharing a season of energy, connection, and memorable moments with you and your family.

Kind regards,

2024 MEMBERSHIP SURVEY REPORTS

Introduction

The 2024 Membership Satisfaction Survey marks an important milestone for the Club, as this is the first time we have incorporated the Net Promoter Score (NPS) to measure Member loyalty and overall satisfaction. This year's results establish a baseline for future comparisons, allowing us to track trends and refine our offerings.

The survey was conducted online between December 16, 2024, and January 24, 2025, with three reminder emails to encourage participation. There were 426 responses, compared to 481 in 2023. Responses provide valuable insights into key aspects of our Club experience, including facilities, dining, sports, events, communications, and community outreach.

Key Insights & Findings

Net Promoter Score (NPS)

– Our Baseline Year

The NPS question—"How likely are you to recommend ACC to a family member or friend?"— is a key indicator of Member sentiment. The results provide a solid foundation for measuring loyalty and satisfaction in future years.

Overall Membership Experience & Value Perception (NPS: 48)

• NPS: 48 is regarded as a great score.

• 77% of Members are pleased with ACC and believe it offers good value for money (combined “Agree” & “Strongly Agree”).

• The overall feedback highlights the importance of maintaining high service standards and continuous enhancements to the Member experience.

Dining & Banquet Services (NPS: 13)

• The Terrace: 73.8% satisfaction

• Sigis: 66.9% satisfaction

• Gyoson : 62.8% satisfaction / 12% don’t use this facility

• Rendezvous: 49.9% satisfaction / 32% don’t use this facility

• ACC Market: 64.8% satisfaction

• Banquet Services: 42% satisfaction / 42% don’t use the facilities.

• Considering Hosting a Business Meeting or Party Score: 83.3% of Members would consider hosting a business meeting or party at the Club.

Takeaway: Dining remains a strong pillar of the Club experience, with Members expressing good satisfaction across outlets. There are opportunities to refine service and menu offerings by balancing new dishes with well-loved classics, expanding vegetarian options at Sigis, and generally incorporating more clean protein dishes.

Sports & Fitness / Other Club Services (NPS:19 & 24)

• Fitness Center/Gym Experience : 61.1% satisfaction / 47% don’t use classes

• Swimming Experience : 59% satisfaction / 56% don’t use classes

What is a good NPS score?

• Tennis Experience : 32% satisfaction / 6% satisfactory / 67% don’t use classes / 57% don’t use the facilities.

• Multi-Purpose Sports Complex Experience: 43.6% satisfaction / 42% don’t use the facilities.

Takeaway : Sports facilities remain a valued aspect of the Club experience. Ongoing maintenance and program enhancements will help sustain high satisfaction levels.

Club Events & Community Engagement (NPS: 3 & -10)

• Social Events & Activities: 43.7% satisfaction / between 31 – 53% don’t take part

• Community Engagement : 75% appreciate the Club’s participation in charitable activities.

Takeaway: Strong engagement in social events and community initiatives demonstrates the Club’s role beyond just a leisure facility—it is a hub for meaningful interactions.

Communications & Information Access

• Board & Other Communication : 86% of Members find the Club’s communication tools effective.

• Most-used communication channels: Website (68.2%), Weekly eNews (63.1%), and Accent Magazine (25.7%)

Takeaway : Our communication efforts are well-received, with opportunities to further tailor content and channels based on Member preferences.

Conclusion & Next Steps

The 2024 Membership Survey provides a robust foundation for tracking satisfaction and shaping future improvements. The introduction of the NPS score will be a key metric moving forward, allowing us to measure Member loyalty and engagement year-over-year.

Key priorities based on this year’s findings:

✓ Enhance dining experiences and continue refining menu offerings.

✓ Maintain and improve sports facilities and programs.

✓ Build on the success of Club events and community engagement efforts.

✓ Optimize communication channels to better serve Members’ needs.

With these insights, we are well-positioned to elevate the Member experience and ensure the Club continues to be a valued destination for our community.

A Tribute to Working Mothers: Stories from the Heart of ACC

This Mother’s Day, we’re shining a spotlight on three incredible women who are not only devoted mothers but also long-time staff members of ACC. You’ve likely seen their familiar faces around the Club—Mei-Hui from Pastry, Grace from Purchasing, and Michelle from Membership. We sat down with them to hear their stories about motherhood, resilience, and finding balance.

C ould you start by telling us a little about yourselves?

Mei-Hui: I joined the Pastry Team in 1993 when I was 25. I met my husband here, and we now have a 20-year-old daughter.

Grace: I started at ACC in 2004 at age 28 and became a mother at 40. I have a 10-year-old son and raise him on my own.

Michelle: After a working holiday in Australia, I joined ACC in 2010—my first real job. I later married my husband, whom I met in Australia, and we now have a 7-year-old daughter.

What has been your biggest challenge as a working mother?

Mei-Hui: My husband and I both work in hospitality, so we often weren’t home at the same time. Thankfully, we live with his supportive family. I missed out on parts of my daughter’s childhood, but now we’re close—more like friends.

Grace: As a single parent, managing

everything alone—emotionally and financially—is a huge challenge. There’s less stigma now, but being a single mom is still tough, especially with limited support systems.

Michelle: When I worked at our Japanese Restaurant, Gyoson, I barely saw my daughter. I’d get home after she was asleep and miss mornings too. It affected our family life and made me realize I needed a change.

How do you find balance between work and family?

Mei-Hui: I’m lucky to have strong support from my in-laws. That foundation allows me to focus on work and personal growth through ACC’s training programs.

Grace: I make time just for myself —simple things like journaling or watching a series. That quiet time helps me reset and face each day with energy.

Michelle: I eventually transferred to the Membership Department, which

gave me a regular schedule. Now I can have dinner with my family and pick up my daughter from school. I feel so much more balanced and happier.

Has motherhood changed you?

Mei-Hui: Definitely. I’ve become more responsible and thoughtful. It feels like I grew up alongside my daughter.

Grace: I used to be more rigid and a perfectionist. Having a child softened me. I’ve learned to be more flexible and forgiving— with others and myself.

Michelle: I’ve always loved kids, but being a mom taught me how much care a child really needs. It’s changed how I approach my work, too—I think more carefully about how we support Member families.

If you could do something differently, what would it be?

Mei-Hui: I sometimes wonder what would’ve happened if I’d taken a different career path. I’d tell my younger self to stay open to learning new things.

Grace: I’d still choose to raise my son alone, but I’d be more careful about the community I kept. Not everyone offers support when you need it most, and that realization was tough but necessary.

Michelle: I’m happy where I am now, but I wish I’d made the change to a more balanced schedule a few years earlier. To other moms: don’t be afraid of change—it might be exactly what you need.

What’s something about motherhood that fills you with pride or gratitude?

Mei-Hui: Now that my daughter is older, we’ve built a friendship. The trust we share means so much to me.

Grace: Watching my son grow up healthy and happy fills me with pride. Even hearing him call me “mom” makes everything worth it.

Michelle: It’s the feeling of being needed— and being there for the little moments that I used to miss. Now, we’re building new memories together.

To all the working moms in our community —thank you for your strength, your love, and your tireless dedication. And to Grace, Mei-Hui, and Michelle, thank you for opening your hearts and reminding us that behind every uniform is a life full of care, courage, and quiet victories.

This Mother’s Day, we honor you—not just for the roles you play, but for the women you are.

Dai-Chien Artwork Revealed | March 27

Our Members had a rare chance to get a glimpse of the famous Chang Dai-Chien paintings in the California Room on March 27, accompanied by a private tour to get up-and-close with these masterpieces.

Chang Dai-Chien (1899–1983) was one of the most renowned and versatile Chinese painters of the 20 th century. The 1940s marked a significant turning point in the artistic career, representing the peak of his creative output during his prime years. His remarkable talent, refined through three years of studying the Dunhuang Buddhist murals, led to a distinctive style characterized by intricate iron-line work and brilliant, gilded color palettes. As a result, he earned a reputation as a master who bridged the past and future, often hailed as the foremost artist of the past five centuries.
