For the Club’s Hours of Operation
Dear Fellow Members,
Happy New Year! As we embark on a new chapter, it’s a wonderful time to reflect on the values that make the American Club Taipei such a special place for all Members. This year, I encourage you to consider how you can be part of the Club’s growth and success—whether through participation, sharing ideas, or connecting with fellow Members.
A heartfelt thank-you to those who have been selected by the Nominating Committee to stand for the upcoming elections at the Annual General Meeting. Your commitment to serving our Club and contributing your time and expertise is deeply appreciated.
I encourage all Members to take part in this important process. Your engagement—through voting, attending the AGM, or joining a committee—ensures the continued vibrancy of our community and helps guide the Club’s future direction.
As we prepare to celebrate Lunar New Year and the arrival of the Year of the Snake, it’s a perfect time to gather with loved ones and embrace traditions that bring us closer together.
At ACC, we take pride in being a home for three generations of families—a place where everyone, from grandparents to grandchildren, can share meaningful experiences and create cherished memories.
The Year of the Snake symbolizes wisdom, renewal, and resilience—qualities that resonate deeply with our community. Let’s use this inspiration to set personal and collective goals for the year ahead, whether it’s embracing new activities, spending more quality time with family, or simply making the most of everything the Club has to offer.
As we step into 2025, our mission remains clear: to provide the highest quality dining and services, a Grade-A physical environment, and memorable experiences for all ages. We are proud to maintain an international community while celebrating the essence of an American Club in Asia. Beyond this, we are committed to sustainability, social impact, and being an employer of choice, ensuring the right talent and mindset are in place to deliver on our promises.
While the year ahead may bring some uncertainties, careful planning and thoughtful decision-making will give us the best chance for success. Together, we can embrace the opportunities that lie ahead and overcome challenges with resilience and determination.
As we ring in the Chinese New Year, I want to thank each of you for being an integral part of the ACC family. Gong Xi Fa Cai—may the Year of the Snake bring health, happiness, and prosperity to you and your loved ones. Here’s to another exciting year together!
Warm regards,
Club President
Dear Members,
A new year brings fresh opportunities, and at the American Club Taipei, we’re starting 2025 with a packed schedule of events and activities. January and February promise something for everyone, from cultural celebrations to fitness opportunities and unforgettable dining experiences.
Highlights this January include our Lunar New Year Charity Calligraphy event, where you can celebrate tradition while giving back to the community, and the Wiggly Snake Winter Camp to keep the kids engaged and entertained. Don’t miss the ever-popular Sunday Brunches, a Welcome Back Social Tennis Happy Hour to reconnect on the court and over drinks, and festive Lunar New Year dinner and lunch buffets showcasing seasonal delicacies.
The excitement continues into February with a variety of events to enjoy. Watch the Super Bowl live on the new LED screen with friends, experience the vibrant Lion Dance performance, and cheer on young athletes at the Rising Stars Mini Tennis Competition. For those seeking something special, enjoy a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner at Sigis or an enchanting evening of music at the Rendezvous with “Swinging Broadway,” a celebration of the Great American Songbook.
This year, we’re expanding the “Clubs Within the Club” concept to strengthen our sense of community. The Wine Circle has had an incredibly successful first year, and the Spirits Society in the Rendezvous is gaining momentum. Building
on this foundation, we’re working on two or three new member-driven clubs that we’re confident will enhance your experience and deepen connections with fellow Members.
After the Lunar New Year festivities, it’s the perfect time to refocus on fitness and personal wellness. Ricky, Ivan, and Antoine from our Fitness Team are ready to assist, whether you’re starting fresh or fine-tuning an existing routine. They can provide expert guidance to help you set realistic goals, develop a program tailored to your needs, and keep you motivated as you work toward better health.
This year, we’re encouraging a colorful approach to dining. It’s not about calorie counting but adding vibrant, nutrient-packed options to your meals. Our menus are flexible so that we can continue refining them to incorporate fresh ideas and Member feedback. Staying true to our promise of value, we’ll also benchmark our prices 10-15% below comparable restaurants in the city.
We are excited about the changes underway to make your time at the Club even better. Renovation plans for the Rendezvous are progressing well, and the air-conditioning system upgrade is almost complete, ensuring improved comfort and efficiency for the coming summer months.
As we step into the Year of the Snake, I wish you all health, happiness, and success. Here’s to a year of shared moments, new milestones, and vibrant experiences at ACC!

The American Club Taipei proudly presented "The American Club Taipei: A Legacy and Timeless Journey Unveiled" in November, 2024, marking its 56th anniversary. This remarkable project, a year in the making, captures the essence of ACC’s journey over five decades and reflects the shared experiences that have shaped our vibrant community.
ACC long renowned as an inviting retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation - where traditions thrive, friendships are forged, and countless memories are made. Despite this rich heritage, lacking was a publication dedicated to preserving our journey and achievements. To fill this gap, the need for a complete, enduring narrative became clear, which prompted the decision to compile this booklet, to serve as a lasting tribute to the Club’s past history and to the Members who shaped it.
However, crafting this book while rewarding, proved to be a challenging experience. Although many documents—such as our early Constitution, membership lists, and site blueprints were preserved; they painted only part of the picture. Adding to the challenges, the Club's initial 1980 relocation, from Zhongshan North Road to our current Beian Road, added more challenges to accurately record the Club's history. Our
team meticulously reviewed five decades of the ACCENT archives, along with other previous Member’s articles connecting moments from the past and uncovering the pivotal events that shaped ACC. The process also brought unique challenges, such as the absence of photographs from the Club’s earliest days. For example, only one single photo of the front entrance of the Club was found. At that moment, it became apparent we would have to rely on the accounts of those who lived it to uncover the whole story. This is where our Members became invaluable. Long-time Member Selina Lin, one of the renowned "Thirteen Sisters" celebrated for their enduring female camaraderie, generously shared her personal collection of photographs. Her contributions offered rare and invaluable glimpses of life at the Zhongshan North Road location, filling in key gaps in our visual narrative. Her contributions, along with those of Dr. Ter-Fung
Wang, Existing Premises Committee, Board of Governors in 1980, visiting ACC with his family.
Tsao, Nancy Yu, Bill Mahon, and a former U.S. Air Force military man, Kent Mathieu, who runs a website called Taipei Air Station, passionate about preserving the history of all U.S. Air Stations in Taiwan during that time, enriched this project and brought the past vividly to life. One has only to read through this booklet to savor the rich stories behind those treasured images.
ACC’s history is intertwined with key moments in U.S.-Taiwan relations, reflecting both resilience and adaptability. Despite changing times, the Club has remained constant—a place for innovation, community, and cherished traditions. As we explored the archives, we were amazed to find that many of the activities and traditions cherished by members today were first introduced decades ago. These events have transcended generations, becoming a testament to ACC’s enduring appeal and the values that unite its members.
'CELEBRATING ACC’S STORY' is more than just a chronicle of ACC’s past—it’s a celebration of the enduring legacy we share as a community. We are thrilled to offer this booklet - now available at the Membership Office by the Front Desk- as a gift to each of our memberships.
By honoring our history with this publication, we hope to inspire current and future generations to continue embracing the values that define the American Club Taipei. Together, let’s keep writing the next chapter of our timeless journey.
