Staff Cocktail Competition
Dear Fellow Members,
As you will have seen, there has been a lot happening over the summer, while many Members have been away.
We are pleased to announce the recent completion of the sewage connection works. While not a pleasant task, it has allowed us to update Sigis deck. This spot, arguably the best alfresco location in Taipei, now offers an even more enjoyable environment for Members.
Our refurbished car park has been redesigned with safety in mind. We have enlarged the no-dropping zone, installed proper stoppers, and added a new drivers' room to ensure a safer and more convenient experience for all Members.
The California and San Francisco Rooms have been renovated. The view over the pool has been opened up, and state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, including a full wall LED screen, has been installed. The wall opening in the San Francisco Room allows for an abundance of natural daylight. With new menus and key dates in December and January already booked out, these spaces are set to become even more popular.
We are also implementing an upgrade to our air conditioning system in December to ensure maximum comfort for all Members, ready for next year.
In October, we will be forming this year's Nominating Committee, whose responsibility is to source and interview the next generation of
potential Board Members in readiness for next year's election at the AGM. Their work helps maintain the high standards and community spirit that we all cherish, and prepare to safeguard the Club's future. If you are interested in standing, please let the GM know, and he will pass on your name to the Committee Chair.
Our Planning and other relevant Committees, along with Management, are already gearing up for 2025, with a particular focus on the Rendezvous and the lobby area.
Staffing in our Food & Beverage department continues to be a challenge, but our team has been creative in finding solutions. We are implementing a long-term plan that includes international staff, a system successfully adopted by 5-star hotels. We are confident this will enhance our service quality.
Additionally, we are developing a new Club website. This will be launched in early 2025 and will provide an improved online experience, making it easier for you to stay updated and engaged with Club activities.
This time of year is always special as we enjoy more outdoor activities and events by the pool, leading up to the festive season. We will be launching a new concept of the “ACC Festival Brochure,” covering events from Thanksgiving through to Chinese New Year. This will help your family plan for the many must-not-miss events we have in store.
Finally, welcome back to everyone after a full summer and thank you for your continued support and involvement in making our Club a vibrant and welcoming community.
Warm regards,
Dear Members,
As the President has mentioned, we are thrilled to introduce a refreshed Club and a variety of exciting new offerings.
We have implemented a competitive pricing strategy for our restaurants, aligning with the traditional approach of Private Member Clubs, which set their food and beverage prices 10-15% below comparable external establishments. Despite the ongoing rise in raw goods costs, we have frozen price increases in our restaurants as much as possible to offer you the best value.
At the Terrace, our new menu items have been exceptionally well received, especially the new salad bar and weekend buffet, which have become Member favorites. We are excited to announce more pop-up events, following the success of our recent Shanghai Night and the smashed burger. The next one will be in October over the 10/10 period.
Gyoson now features a new menu, carefully curated with selected new dishes and a "Flavors of Okinawa" section. Meanwhile, at Sigis, Chef Jimmy has refined the menu to focus more on Italian cuisine while incorporating local Taiwanese products.
The enhanced private rooms continue to be popular, and Chef Jimmy is creating many "Memorable Menus" for special occasions. If you’re interested in having Jimmy create a menu, please just ask the staff in Sigis.
Our wine list has garnered positive feedback for its variety and uniqueness, offered at very
favorable prices. With main wines marked up by only 15% and premium wines by just 10%, you won’t find better-priced wine in Taipei.
Rendezvous remains the musical hub of the Club. If you haven’t attended any of our jazz, country, or blues nights, be sure to check the schedule for upcoming events and mark your calendars.
We have a wide array of sports and activities happening, both at ACC and off-site. The Racquets Fall Tennis Championship is a must for all tennis enthusiasts, and our squash handicap enables everyone to play. Our fitness center trainers are available to arrange special fitness classes tailored just for you, to get you into peak condition for these tournaments.
Additionally, our new activities lineup, which we have been able to arrange for groups outside of the Club, includes pickleball, skeet shooting, archery, and basketball. Detailed information can be found on our website, noticeboard, or through our sports staff.
Over the past few months, we have delved into the rich history of ACC. Understanding our heritage is crucial, as it represents a legacy of community, tradition, and exclusivity that the Members cherish. This sense of belonging and continuity links past and present Members through shared experiences and values, enhancing our Club's identity and reputation.
Though the Club started in 1968, through our research, we discovered that the current site of ACC was opened on November 1, 1980. So we will be commemorating this milestone with special birthday celebrations and promotions, so stay tuned for more details.
It has been wonderful to see everyone back, and we are committed to continuously enhancing your experience at the Club. We look forward to seeing you enjoy the new offerings.

Chef Jimmy grew up immersed in Taiwanese cuisine and private dining in Yilan. From a young age, he gained a deep understanding of Taiwanese cooking. At 16, he moved to Taipei to explore Western cuisine, stepping away from his family's culinary path. Through talent and dedication, he carved out a distinguished career in the culinary world. Now 55, Chef Jimmy reflects on the first three decades of his career with pride.
The initial decade was spent building a strong foundation in Western cuisine, honing skills across various restaurants. In his second decade, he collaborated with international chefs at prestigious five-star hotels like Marco Polo Restaurant at Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Taipei and Toscana Italian Restaurant at The Sherwood Taipei. The third decade saw him at 32 Villa, where he mastered Italian cuisine and fine dining under Michelin three-star chefs.
During his 18 years at 32 Villa, Chef Jimmy developed a unique culinary style and became
a leading expert in gourmet ingredients. His expertise with white truffle, known as the "diamond of the kitchen," earned him acclaim. Besides cooking, Chef Jimmy continuously sought knowledge from Michelin-starred restaurants worldwide, To this date, he has visited establishments totaling 172 Michelin stars, the highest record in the culinary field in Taiwan.
In 2022, Chef Jimmy published "The Bible of Fine Ingredients 頂級食材聖經, " in which he shared his lifetime experience and knowledge about some of the finest ingredients and how to discover their best flavors.
Chef Jimmy’s cooking style is best described as creative European cuisine, skillfully incorporating fresh local ingredients to bridge the gap from
farm to table. This approach aligns with international trends and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are also championed at the ACC. His commitment to discovering high-quality local ingredients and fostering relationships with small-scale farmers has helped elevate Taiwanese produce and seafood in fine dining.
At the ACC, we are thrilled to have Chef Jimmy join our culinary team since April 2023. His dynamic approach has invigorated Sigis Restaurant. Unlike his previous workplaces, ACC’s members-based environment—with its high repeat customer rate—demands both popular classics and innovative new dishes, perfectly matching Chef Jimmy’s expertise. Within the realm of creative European cuisine, he consistently sparks inspiration through seasonal menus featuring local Taiwanese ingredients and custom private menus for special events.
Chef Jimmy’s contributions have not only enriched our menu but also set a new standard for culinary excellence at the ACC. The upcoming Sigis À La Carte Menu is Chef Jimmy’s latest masterpiece. Drawing on his traditional Italian roots and deep understanding of ingredients and techniques, he has crafted dishes that blend abundant flavors with innovative twists. This new menu promises ACC Members and their guests a rich and delightful culinary experience, offering both familiarity and surprise in every bite.
2024 is all about our continuous efforts to maintain and enhance the Club’s facilities. A series of projects were lined up at the beginning of the year, including the connection to the city’s sewage, Sigis Deck, and car park upgrades. We also kicked off the California and San Francisco Rooms refurbishment project at the beginning of July with a schedule to complete it in September to welcome all our Members back. This marks a significant milestone after this iconic space last debuted 16 years ago. It has served countless memorable events, gatherings, and celebrations. We are now ready for a rejuvenated space that can deliver energy efficiency with a modern touch.
In addition to the refurbishment of the two major rooms, the foyer and restrooms are also getting a makeover to provide a more holistic experience. The design inspiration for the two major rooms spun from their names and the color palette will follow along. You have probably already seen the detailed design on display and the swatch of the sample carpet in the back of our lobby since July as a transparent way to communicate to all Members. Here are some of the new designs in case you missed the display.
We hope these touch-ups will provide a refreshed look and better functionality to meet the evolving and changing needs of our Members and we can build more lasting memories in the years to come.

After completing an invigorating internal cross-training program, our staff decided to channel their newfound skills and creativity into a friendly staff cocktail competition. The training sparked a sense of curiosity and a willingness to experiment. The competition became a celebration of collaboration and learning, as each of them brought their own twist to the classic Margarita. The event not only highlighted their ability to adapt and innovate but also reinforced the importance of having fun while growing together.

Purchasing
Jimmy has been with the Club for almost eight years and has proven to be a valuable asset as our purchasing officer.
In this role, Jimmy has consistently demonstrated his independence and high level of responsibility; frequently working on Saturdays to make sure the warehouse management and inspection duties are done effectively and on time.
Very much a 'hands-on' officer - Jimmy assists in monitoring the Club's wine inventory - and cooperates with his colleagues in meeting their many diverse needs.
Many people spend half of their time in the workplace, dealing with busy schedules, prolonged sitting or standing, late-night overtime, and irregular sleeping patterns in a highly competitive environment. This often leads employees to neglect their health, which can significantly impact their quality of life, increase the risk of illness, and reduce productivity.
In an era where corporate sustainability is emphasized, we believe health is as important as environmental protection. Therefore, through Walkii Fun activities, we aim to foster a health-friendly workplace environment that effectively and immediately improves everyone's health awareness and condition.
