Mini-Grant Program Expands in 2021 It’s been an exciting year as we launched our Mini-Grant Program to benefit youth organizations.

To date, we have awarded nine Mini-Grants, totaling $22,500. These community-based organizations have unique and diverse grass roots activities that passionately align with the ALL RISE Mission and serve their communities through youth leadership development; youth citizenship and character development; health and well-being projects (physical and/or mental); school activities; and community involvement. These Mini-Grants are encouraging youth and children, as well as dedicated group leaders, to maintain and create productive and meaningful experiences that will have a lasting, positive impact on youth.

ALL RISE Mini-Grants are $2,500 with awards taking place each Winter, Spring, and Fall. The first full year of this program, we presented one per season to three different organizations in San Joaquin County, California, issuing grants to: Tokay Colony 4-H Swine Unit; Boys and Girls Club, Sierra Vista Neighborhood and First Tee - San Joaquin.

As funding grew, we broadened our reach in 2021 to include organizations in two additional regions that have had a direct impact on Aaron’s life: Fresno County, California, and Bronx County, New York. It’s clear to us that the ALL RISE Mini-Grant Program is making a difference.

The Winter 2021 recipients were: Delta Sculling, San Joaquin County, California; Design Science Middle College High School, Fresno County, California; and Spring 36 LLC, Bronx County, New York. groups and we are confident their programs and actions will continue to influence children for years to come. Our Mini-Grant Program provides the support to allow these teams to accomplish great things for the benefit of our youth.

Pulling Together I was recently asked when was the first time that I felt the need to take on a leadership role. I believe I was in fifth grade. My class had a special chance to go to science camp for an overnight trip. Once we arrived, two of my buddies started arguing and it escalated into an actual fist fight.

There wasn’t anyone else around, so I just stepped in. I told them to knock it off, and that it didn’t matter who or what started it - only that we were on this trip to learn together. It was a privilege for us to be there and we didn’t need these guys taking anything away from that.

Last year with the Yankees, my teammates and I all agreed to work together towards getting to the World Series, no matter what. We made sacrifices to follow protocols that kept us on the field and playing games. For us to even have a season, as short as it was - much had to go right for not only us, but for all of baseball. It had to do with commitment to each other to get the job done. This meant we couldn’t gather as a team for dinner outside of the game, and we couldn’t even engage with fans before the game. We recognized that we owed this commitment to each other. Even though we didn’t quite make it to the World Series, we saw that a team can do amazing things when we all work together.

That lesson has helped me grow the ALL RISE Foundation as well. As the season ended, I saw huge opportunities to join with my local communities to help them pull together and inspire our youth to get involved. During Covid, donations at the Central California Blood Bank were down 40% - 60% because of the lack of blood drives through the schools. To help out, we joined their campaign to help raise awareness about the need for blood donations. Valley Children’s Hospital held their Kid’s Day in March, and I was pleased to help raise donations.

And once again, ALL RISE is partnering with #ICANHELP and their Digital For Good Conference to help stamp out negativity and teach our youth to use social media to spread kindness.

As the world starts to open back up, we are eager to get back to “normal.” We all have a special opportunity to keep working as a team, to push towards success, and to not leave our kids behind. by Design, and Beth Houf, Middle School Principal and co-author of Lead like a Pirate. The takeaway from this engaging dialogue was “Lead from your heart.”

Inaugural $1,000 Scholarship Awarded Congratulations to Linden High School senior, Daniela Alvarez for receiving the Aaron Judge ALL RISE Foundation Scholarship. Daniela is the first recipient of this award. She is attending UC Merced in the fall.

The Aaron Judge ALL RISE Foundation $1,000 Scholarship was established in June of 2020 to be awarded to graduating seniors from Linden High School, Linden,

California. Aaron is well aware of the need to assist students, and their families, as they pursue a higher education to achieve life goals. “Young people have the potential to make a positive impact in their communities and can encourage others to do the same. A college or trade/vocational school experience will provide them additional tools to succeed. We are focused on promoting education which will empower our youth to reach unlimited possibilities,” states Aaron Judge, Founder.

Criteria for the AJARF Scholarship: Outstanding citizenship; Leadership abilities and experience; College bound to a two or four-year institution or accredited trade/vocational school; and a 300 word essay on “Responsible Citizenship and Me”.

Let’s Rise Together to Save Lives ~ Aaron Judge The Aaron Judge ALL RISE Foundation and the Central California Blood Center, Fresno, California, joined together on a media campaign to encourage children and young adults to put service above self and become blood donors. The Aaron Judge ALL RISE Foundation holds a mission to inspire and influence youth to become responsible citizens by engaging with and serving in their communities and extends that same call to action through blood donation.

Aaron hopes that the campaign will help the Central California Blood Center overcome some of the challenges it has faced this year in collecting blood due to the continued inability to collect from school closures and other COVID related restrictions. Aaron shared, “When I heard the numbers in a community close to my heart, I knew we had to get involved.”

RISING UP Congratulations Winter 2021 Mini-Grant Recipients!

DELTA SCULLING CENTER San Joaquin County, California, provides a nine-week spring program, a full academic year program, and a summer camp held in July and August, on the Deep-Water Channel and Delta waterways near Stockton, California. “Mens sana in corpore sano”, a healthy mind in a healthy body, is a value that both the AJARF and Delta Sculling Center’s programs have in common. The $2,500 Mini-Grant will be used to provide scholarships, tuitions, nutritional snacks and beverages, along with promotional materials.

DESIGN SCIENCE MIDDLE COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL, Fresno County, California, encourages and supports students to attend college classes while enrolled in high school to attain both their high school diploma and their AA degree from Fresno City College.

100% of graduates have been accepted into four-year universities. This $2,500 Mini-Grant will be added to funds earned by students to support Rise Against Hunger, an organization working to end hunger by empowering communities, nourishing lives and responding to emergencies. The entire student body will package nutritious meals under the guidance of Rise Against Hunger to be distributed to those in need. This project will reinforce the spirit of giving and caring for our world.

SPRING 36, LLC, Bronx County, New York, strives to provide opportunities for youth to grow, create, and realize their fullest potential through a six-to-eight-week online Music Video Program. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, their annual Music Video Dance Camp is being impacted, and yet they have adapted to an online program for Spring/Summer of 2021. The participants will be exposed to a diverse range of components involved in creating music videos, in addition to health and fitness, teamwork, team roles, choreography, and dance techniques. Scholarships and necessary supplies to attend the Music Video Program will be supplied for students through the $2,500 Mini-Grant.
