Time to Celebrate Students
As the clock ticks and time moves on, I re ect on the daily phone calls and visits with my mother and father. Often my mother would tell me to sit a bit and visit. We would share a giggle along with a story, catch up on the happenings of the day, and check in on family matters. These visits became more special during the last few years of their lives. I must confess that my life’s busyness easily got in the way of our quality time together and it took effort to handle my family, home, activities and schedules, career, and personal obligations. Watching the clock also reminds me of the times my parents made a commitment to instill in my brothers and sister the basic, yet easily forgotten responsibility to spend time with family and friends. Our faithful road trips to visit family in Wisconsin, Georgia, & Illinois; the barbecues to celebrate family, friends, birthdays, weddings, baptisms, anniversaries, housewarmings, harvests, holidays, and just because events; church events; supporting family and friends during dif cult and happy times; were strategic maneuvers to drive home the importance of living a Christ centered life and a sense of responsibility for family and friends. Over eighty years, this loving gift of time has in uenced family and friends.
Spring and summer have always been a time for us to celebrate our children’s academic accomplishments and the ALL RISE Foundation is no different. This issue is full of pictures that capture smiles and recent accomplishments in our three regions: Bronx

& Community
Educational All-Star Day, Aspiring Leaders CADA Leadership Conference, Aaron’s hometown Cherry Festival and high school scholarship award. It does not stop there. Our webstore was launched on May 22nd to develop our following. Our Foundation tee shirt will create a time for community members to talk about Aaron’s Foundation and help people understand that our programs and mission are focused on citizenship and leadership development for children and youth. On Father’s Day, we launched the #Just5Minutes campaign to encourage others to participate in making an impact on our youth. It only takes 5 minutes, a small amount of time, to create a meaningful experience, whether it is bike riding, playing catch, reading a book together, or simply being friendly. Aaron says he “believes a connected child will have a better chance to be happy and successful.” Right before our eyes, we see children becoming con dent leaders and role models with a strong sense of community. Spending time with our children is a game changer, something I experienced rst hand with my parents. Won’t you join our mission to make an impact on our children? I bet you won’t regret using your time as a gift to others. Here is
MISSION
ALL RISE will inspire children & youth to become responsible citizens by engaging them in activities that encourage them to reach unlimited possibilities.

Watching and Listening
When I was in elementary school, I would go with my Dad to his basketball team practices and watch him coach these older kids into being great and playing like a team. I was pretty young, but I would go home and try to do the things I had seen those older boys do. I was always watching. I also saw how my father attended coaching clinics and leadership events to try to discover new ways to help the kids on his team get better. He was pretty good at getting through to most players, but he wanted to nd ways to help ALL of them succeed. His ongoing process of trying to reach all of his players was something I consciously watched for as I grew older. He knew that some kids learned differently, and he looked for ways to differentiate his coaching, instead of just trying to make them conform to his way of teaching. In some ways it was about listening and trying new things.
As a kid in Linden or college athlete in Fresno pursuing my dream of being a professional baseball player, I was constantly watching how the pros played their sport and handled themselves both on and off the eld. Once I was a professional, I began reaching out to teammates and players that came before me to discuss how they see the game, and in particular hitting. I liked to hear the words they use to describe their approach at the plate and gain their perspective on the game. Perhaps their approach would never work for me, but by asking, I can learn about them, how they think and what is important to them. I learn their language. As a student of the game always striving to be better, I was always watching and listening.

Since being named the 16th captain of the New York Yankees, nothing really has changed in how I approach being a teammate. My focus in that role is being a friend and perhaps a resource. I still have those conversations with everyone. I learn their language of hitting, their humor, and their approach. I still watch how they go about their business and try to notice the little things they do that might have an impact. Perhaps, when they are struggling, I can have a conversation and repeat back to them that one key idea that made them successful in the past. Sometimes just that easy conversation with a friend, not a coach, is enough for them to nd the inspiration they were looking for.

The idea for ALL RISE came from that early observation of players and how they conducted themselves off the eld. As ALL RISE continues its mission to inspire youth to reach for their dreams, we recognize there isn’t one way to reach all kids. We are continuing to grow our programs and expand our reach. Through the ALL RISE Mini-Grants, our baseball camps, aspiring leaders programs and our upcoming reading initiatives, we are nding new ways to touch the lives of young people. We are watching and listening to today's youth and we think there is a lot to be excited about. We hope you stick around for the journey.

On May 10th, we partnered with the New York Yankees to recognize 10,500 fth through 8th grade students from districts 7-12 at the Bronx Educational ALL-Star Day (BEAD). Students received acknowledgement and awards from NYC public school administrators, leaders, and educators in three areas: Leadership and Teamwork, Academics, and Community Service. Jean Afterman, Esq., Brian Cashman, NYY General Manager, and Chancellor David Banks, NYC Public Schools, kicked off the event. Dr. Meisha Porter, President and CEO of the Bronx Community Foundation introduced the NYY Captain, Aaron Judge, to encourage the students to take their education seriously. Our student speaker, Noni Jacobs, representing the ALL RISE Foundation, #ICANHELP, and Spring 36 LLC (a recipient of our mini-grant), challenged students to be positive. Noni said, “There are so many ways you can make the world a better and safer place. Being an agent of good character and positivity can inspire others to pay it forward— good energy is contagious like that.” Kim Karr, Co-Founder for #ICANHelp and ALL RISE partner, echoed Noni’s words and introduced students to the value of being positive online and to delete negativity. NYY manager, Aaron Boone, was on hand to congratulate the students and reminded them that they are the future and a valuable part of the NYY Bronx family. This special day was rewarding and inspiring for Bronx students.

CADA Leadership Conference

Linden students gain leadership skills

The ALL RISE Foundation sent a delegation of 17 junior high students from Linden Uni ed to attend the California Association of Directors of Activities and California Association of Student Leaders Modesto Central Valley Spring Student Leadership Conference on May 2, 2023. The conference focused on training and preparing newly elected student leaders for the upcoming school year, as well as helping them learn to navigate the responsibilities as a student leader. Below you will nd comments from three of the students who were part of this year’s delegation of students committed to making a difference at their school. It is rewarding to be involved in their growth as leaders!
I learned many new skills and qualities while attending the Leadership Conference. While in attendance I participated in multiple workshops. These include “Psychology in Leadership” and “Putting the FUN in FUNdraising,” as well as having the opportunity to listen to various speakers. I learned the importance of leaving a legacy, building a team environment, and putting others before yourself. I speci cally learned just how important it is to take action. As guest speaker Kim Karr stated, “If you know how to do it, then do it. If not, then ask.” I feel that this quote stuck out to me because it taught me that it is okay to ask for help from others around you when it is necessary. I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to attend this conference and can't wait to implement the skills that this conference taught me to both my school and community.” ~ Tiffany

I have gone for two other years, but this year felt very effective. The two guest speakers had good messages such as “How to be safe online” and “I am enough.” Their speeches held meaningful and powerful words that made everyone feel and think. They explained the perfect leader is imperfect. Striving for others to help others. you don't need to be special to help others. You just need passion. Which can ultimately create better leaders and a safer campus and hometown.” ~ Lena
Costigliolo,11
While attending the Leadership Conference I was able to talk with other student leaders and heard how they are making differences at their school sites. We were able to work together and think about new and different ways to make your campuses better for all students. We talked about how a successful leader makes everyone feel heard and understood when expressing their opinion, and how to use our in uence to help connect our schools and communities. Being able to connect with other student leaders showed me different perspectives on different leadership methods that will help bring our students closer as a community. Overall, this experience taught me useful leadership skills and that anyone can make a difference no matter how big or small.” ~

Cherry Festival OFF THE FIELD
It was a day of festivities and fun at the annual Cherry Festival in Linden, California, hometown of the Judge family. This year’s theme was “Linden Cherries are Legendary...Just like #99 Aaron Judge.” ALL RISE President, Patty Judge, and Vice President, Linda Johnson, were grand marshals for the parade. An interactive trivia booth was a fun and engaging way to quiz community members of their knowledge of Linden, baseball, and Aaron. A life-sized of Aaron was on hand for photo opps. ALL RISE Aspiring Leaders from Linden High School managed the trivia wheel and shared information about the Aaron Judge ALL RISE Foundation programs. Board members Carol Derksen, Linda Johnson, and Patty were on hand to answer questions. The Cherry Festival is presented annually by the Linden-Peters Chamber of Commerce.
