Community Pride TEAM REPORT

Our home is nestled in the agricultural community of Linden, California. In May and early June, many of our farming neighbors are harvesting cherries. Approximately 32% of the cherries enjoyed in the United States are supplied from our region. Albert Dal Porto tells me, “In early March, the trees come out of dormancy and show their beautiful white blossoms. We bring in bee hives to support the pollination process. Bees are very important to our crop. As the petals begin to fall, we walk the elds to observe the crop.” Albert goes on to say, “We start picking with the early varieties of Royal Hazel to the most popular variety, the Coral. The season is nished off with a beautiful white blush Rainier Cherry and the last variety that made many generations of Linden families prosperous…the Bing Cherry.” During the preparation, harvest, and marketing of the cherries all over the world, farmers and members of the community work seven days a week until the harvest is completed in early June. “Seasonal workers and even community members who have no farming background are needed to help with the harvest. Aaron’s dad, Wayne, helped us haul the harvested fruit from the eld to the packing shed,” Albert shares.

“Many of the cherry farmers like me are fourth and fth generation growers… we enjoy seeing Linden cherries in stores. When friends and family send pics to us from the grocery stores, we smile with pride to see those cherries. Just as proud as we are to see Aaron playing for the New York Yankees across the United States or overseas.”

As you can imagine, many elements affect a crop both positively or negatively. A rainstorm at the wrong time can be devastating to a farmer‘s crop, as well as unusually high heat or low temperatures. Farmers nd themselves challenged, accomplished, and rewarded by Mother Nature and other factors. Of course, all of us are affected in some way by nature and “life”.

Just as the Linden community rallies around our local farmers during the harvest season, the ALL RISE family comes together from all parts of the world to engage with and inspire youth. The Aaron Judge ALL RISE Foundation has continued to focus on nurturing our communities to support the growth of mature responsible citizens and a strong educational foundation for our participants. In addition to the activities listed below, throughout this issue you will nd details on upcoming events, as well as highlights from recent accomplishments.

The January 24th All-Star Evening Gala was a phenomenal success. We are proud to have raised just over $1,000,000 to inspire children to become responsible citizens. Thank you to our sponsors, friends, and family for supporting Aaron’s mission. See more details of our New York Gala on page 5.

Six $2,500 ALL RISE Mini-Grants have been dispersed since the beginning of 2024. We have supported a total of 33 organizations and awarded $82,500 towards projects and programs that align with the Aaron Judge ALL RISE Foundation's mission.

Two exciting events are coming up this summer. Our 2nd annual summer reading program launches June 6th (details on page 4). We are also busy planning the next Aaron Judge Baseball ProCamp on July 23rd in Bronx, NY. Watch our social channels (@allriseof cial) and check our website for updates on all upcoming ALL RISE programs and activities!

CHAMBERS Judge’s

We walk by faith, not by sight – 2 Corinthians 5:7

Touching Lives

I rst saw my mom teaching when I had to go with her to Franklin High School. My school had a short day, so I sat in the back of her classroom and watched her teach. I noticed how she personally connected with each student. She spoke with each - the star students and the struggling ones - exactly the same, showing great care. When she moved through the hallway at the end of the day, I recognized her extending that same level of attention to adults. She stopped and spoke with the same focus and concern to the principal and to the janitor.

With our family gatherings, I saw my mom use her talents to bring the large group together. She was quick to take charge and offer up a mini-assignment or icebreaker that got the conversation rolling. By getting us talking and sharing our stories, it not only put us at ease but allowed each of us to connect and grow closer.

As the ALL RISE Foundation came into view, she and I would discuss our common desire to help youth and how we could do so. In car rides and over meals, we talked about giving youth opportunities to learn leadership skills or how we could encourage youth to develop teamwork. Our core components, the foundation of the ALL RISE Foundation, come from these conversations and her experience as an educator of thirty-three years. We developed our rst program, the ALL RISE Mini-Grants, as a way to partner with organizations already doing meaningful, positive work with the youth in our communities. Our Mini-Grant initiative has given away more than $80,000 to date. Her experience as an educator and with the California Association of Directors of Activities (CADA) played an integral role in the creation and continued growth of ALL RISE.

My mom’s skill of making people feel at ease comes into play every day with the Foundation. It doesn’t matter whether she is speaking to a room of ve or ve hundred, she has the unique ability to connect with each person in the room and bring them into our Foundation’s story. She truly puts into practice her belief that success comes when we all work together, something that has resonated with me throughout my baseball career. No matter our role in the Foundation - sharing a social post, wearing an ALL RISE shirt, taking #just5minutes to connect with youth - we all have an important part to play in helping ALL RISE reach our mission of inspiring and engaging youth.

CADA recently honored her with an award that recognizes someone with “exceptional character and kindness who has contributed signi cantly to the leadership development of students, teachers, and/or administrators.” That is the woman I saw at Franklin High School and that is who I see every day working with me to grow ALL RISE.

Everyone can contribute to our team’s success. The lesson for me is that the lives we touch, the connections we foster, and the belief we instill in others allows everyone to contribute to helping a team thrive. I bring that lesson with me into the locker room, and I hope you see it through our work with the Foundation. We are grateful for your support of ALL RISE. Together as a team, we can make an even bigger impact.

And the Award Goes To…

Patty Judge, Executive Director and President of the ALL RISE Foundation, received the Harry Bettencourt Award from the California Association Directors of Activities (CADA). This coveted award is presented annually and recognizes an individual of exceptional character and kindness who has contributed signi cantly to the leadership development of students, teachers, and/or administrators. As Executive Director and President of the Foundation, Patty continues to develop and lead students through programs and initiatives, such as the Aspiring Leaders program – giving elementary through high school students the opportunity to learn, grow and improve their leadership skills. Patty always encourages ALL RISE team members to signi cantly impact students through book clubs, Master Classes, lessons on social media responsibility, character building pro-camps and workshops, and ALL RISE Mini-Grants. Through these efforts, Patty continues to lead the Foundation team to ful ll their mission: ALL RISE will inspire children and youth to become responsible citizens by engaging them in activities that encourage them to reach unlimited possibilities.

JD and the Family Business

In February, we held a Zoom virtual author visit for three schools in Clovis, California, (Jefferson Elementary, Miramonte Elementary, and Pinedale Elementary) as well as Linden Elementary, Aaron’s school, in Linden, California. Author J. Dillard and illustrator Akeem S. Roberts shared behind-the-scene details of his book JD and the Family Business. We provided 400 books to students and teachers so they could read the book prior to the virtual author visit.

RISING UP

Congratulations to our February 2024 Mini-Grant Recipients

CAMP CATERPILLAR, HOSPICE OF SAN JOAQUIN, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

is a grief program speci cally designed to provide mental health services for children who have experienced the loss of someone in their life. Held twice a year in San Joaquin County, Camp Caterpillar is free for all attendees. By participating, children can learn to enjoy their lives instead of struggling with grief as they would have without this program. The camp’s name serves as a reminder that even amidst grief, there is potential for growth and transformation, much like a caterpillar’s journey toward becoming a butter y. The ALL RISE Mini-Grant provided more children the opportunity to attend the camp and experience the many social-emotional activities planned.

BRONX HOUSE, BRONX COUNTY, NEW YORK

is the rst and longest-running community center in the Bronx, established in 1911. The ALL RISE Mini-Grant supported the Bronx House Vacation Camp, which provided families with a safe and fun place for their children during the Spring Recess. Vacation Camp alternates between recreational and social-emotional learning opportunities with trips to cultural institutions (i.e. Metropolitan Museum of Art) and fun activities. Children enjoyed the pool and gym and playing games that promote teamwork and respect while engaging in healthy physical activity. They also participated in a one-day community service project and explore New York City.

IMPROVANEER

SUMMER CAMP, DOWN SYNDROME ASSOCIATION OF CENTRAL CALIFORNIA, FRESNO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

provides programs that support, educate, and provide social opportunities for the whole family, individuals with Down syndrome, and the community that serves & supports them. Funds from the ALL RISE Mini-Grant will be used to host two sessions of Improvaneer Summer Camp for Fresno/Clovis area youth who have a developmental disability. The Improvaneer Method is a national program created for individuals with developmental disabilities to build social and functional skills through improv games. Skills include voice projection; eye contact; quick thinking; creative thinking; listening; teamwork; problem solving; adaption to change; focus; attention to detail; and character development.

All funds donated for the Aaron Judge ALL RISE Mini-Grant Program go directly to children and youth programs in San Joaquin County, California; Fresno County, California; and Bronx County, New York, that support ongoing citizenship and education development.
