What do you like most about working at Nellis Air Force Base?
One of the most rewarding aspects of working at Nellis is the abundance of opportunities for personal & professional growth, collaborating with a diverse group of Airmen, & the privilege of guiding them to recognize their indispensable roles within the broader organizational framework.
What’s the interesting things about the facility you are working at that not a lot of people know about?
The largest of the Professional Development Center’s three classrooms previously housed our Manpower Office before the move to Building 20. Notably, Building 625 served as the base hospital from 1965 to 1994 & was dedicated to Dr. (Col) William Walter III, the hospital’s commander who tragically passed away in an aircraft accident in December 1977.

The United States Air Force has always recognized the positive effects of education on its personnel and has worked diligently to establish various programs to meet the needs of the Air Force, its personnel, and society. One of the most notable programs is the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF). The college is one of several federally chartered degree-granting institutions; however, it is the only 2-year institution exclusively serving enlisted personnel. The college awards the associate in applied science (AAS) degree after a student successfully completes a degree program designed for an Air Force specialty. CCAF is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools/ Commission on Colleges (SACSCC) to award the associate degree.
The Nellis Education Office, led by Mr. William Ide, the Education & Training Section
Chief, is in building 20 (MPF building), 3rd floor. It is serviced by Education Services Specialists and test examiners who provide academic counseling, including counseling on financial aid (military tuition assistance), to Airmen to help them plan and pursue their CCAF degrees; thereby contributing to the professional growth of each enlisted member. We encourage service members to take advantage of the available military tuition assistance funds and readily available academic experts by stopping by the Education Office. We are open to walk-ins,

Senior Airman Thompson is gearing up for an exciting event at Nellis Air Force Base that promises to bring a burst of energy and fun to his family.
The BMX Pro Trick Team Stunt Show is set to dazzle everyone on Friday, September 13, from 4 PM to 6 PM . This event is part of the September lineup and is sure to be a hit with families looking for some thrilling entertainment.
Airman Thompson, his wife Karen, and their kids, Emily and Jake, have been adjusting to life in Vegas after moving from Greenville, South Carolina. The desert landscape is a big change from the green parks and close-knit community they were used to. Emily misses her soccer games, and Jake has been spending more time indoors, feeling restless.
When Sr. Airman heard about the BMX Pro Trick Team Stunt Show, he knew it was the perfect opportunity to lift their spirits. The show features the world’s top traveling extreme sports stunt team, and it’s not every day you get to see such high-flying action up close.
Jake’s eyes lit up when his dad mentioned the event, and even Emily seemed curious. Karen was eager for anything that could bring back some of the family’s old energy. The Thompsons are excited to experience the vibrant atmosphere, complete with BMX interested kids, free food (provided by USO Las Vegas), gifts and giveaways from the Nellis Commissary (DeCa) and AAFES Nellis Base Exchange, and lively music.
