KEEPING YOU INFORMED

Gateway to Autumn…………... Will the warmth and sunshine of September continue into October? Weather forecasting has improved so much with the assistance of satellites and computer modelling, but it seems that the most reliable predictions are still only over a few days ahead. When we hear that we may get the worst winter for many years because, for example the holly berries have all been eaten, it rarely works out to be true and the weather is mild and wet, (like last year). Who knows what this winter will bring – but I’ve been told that it will be mild and wet again, so we will see! Thank you to all of you who take the trouble to write in to the Kilworth News. Your news and views are very much appreciated. Sometimes we have plenty of space to accommodate your correspondence, sometimes it is a difficult squeeze. Please can we ask that wherever possible you keep your letters to a maximum word count of about 500 words. We will still try to fit in longer letters, but we may edit down to 500

words in future if we are short of space. Please, please don’t let this put you off writing! The News is there to provide a forum for your views and it’s an empty month when we do not receive any letters.

It is sad when correspondence is anonymous, anonymity can breed rumour and innuendo. We are so fortunate to live in a country where we have the liberty of free speech without fear of reprisals and many opportunities to be involved in our local communities. The 7 page insert this month comes from an initial 20 questions document that was sent to us and now has the Parish Council responses added. We do not have so many events taking place in the village this month now that the summer fest of bbq’s and lunches are over, but there are still plenty of activities taking place in the Village Hall such as yoga and pilates to provide that needed exercise now that the darker nights exclude outdoor fun.
