I am great at cooking Keema curry, says President Obama

US President Barack Obama might have had a comprehensive victory in the last US Presidential elections but soon, the White House might see him engage in another big fight. This one, as a culinary expert, reveals India-born celebrity chef Vikas Khanna — the mighty opponent. “Not many know that President Obama is not just a foodie but a great cook himself,” says Khanna, who had tossed up a Indian- Himalayan cuisine for the US President at a prestigious dinner ceremony, last year. That’s when the idea of this novel cook-off came, says Khanna. “He (Obama) called me and said, ‘Hey, you know what, I can also cook Indian food very well! In fact, I am great at cooking Keema curry. I learnt it from my Pakistani roommate at the Harvard. You and I, let’s have a cook-off at the White house’,” recollects chef Khanna, who was in Delhi recently. So, when will this unique duel take place? “Very soon,” says the two time Michelin-starred chef based in New York, who has been picking up authentic Indian spices from Lucknow to perk up his dish but doesn’t mind losing to the US President in the Keema curry fight.

Indian CEOs most optimistic in world CEOs of Indian companies have emerged as the most optimistic lot in the world when it comes to expectations for improvement in global economy this year and revenue prospects of their own businesses in the longer term. The high confidence levels of Indian CEOs is in sharp contrast to the declining confidence level of CEOs across the world in their own businesses as well as for the broader economic scenario, an annual global CEO survey conducted by consultancy giant PwC and released here Tuesday night on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual meeting showed. The CEO confidence level is very high in India also in terms of hiring people for their companies, while the percentage of CEOs having overseen job cuts in their companies during the past year is the lowest in India, the survey said. Announcing the results of its 16th annual CEO survey, which is released every year in this Swiss ski resort town during the WEF summit, PwC said that the CEOs are also getting about finding the right talent for their businesses, lack of stability in stock markets, the government response to fiscal deficit, as also growing regulatory and tax burden. In the longer term, 97 percent of Indian CEOs were found to be ‘somewhat or very confident’ of revenue growth over the next three years, out of which 85 percent said they are very confident -- making them the most optimistic in the world

LG rolls out world’s first 55” OLED TV

South Korean consumer electronics major LG Electronics Inc started taking pre-orders on Wednesday for the world’s first big TVs that use an advanced display technology promising startlingly clear images on wafer-thin screens. The 55-inch TVs, which use a technology called “OLED” and sports a price tag of 11 million won ($10,335), will be delivered to buyers in its home market next month. The new TVs will be available in North America, Europe and the rest of Asia before the end of March. TVs using OLEDs, or organic light-emitting diodes, feature images with enhanced clarity, deeper colour saturation and sharper contrast than liquid crystal display TVs. The advanced, energy-efficient display technology makes it possible to manufacture thinner televisions: LG’s model is just 4 millimeters thick. Earlier, Sony Corp showed off the world’s first OLED TV, which had an 11-inch screen. But the Japanese company failed to follow up with a bigger display.

Special CBI Judge Vinod Kumar, who last week had convicted the Chautalas and 53 others, including two IAS officers, for corruption in a teachers’ recruitment scam and other charges, today handed them varying jail terms. 78-year-old Chautala senior, a five-time former chief minister, and his son 51-year-old Ajay Chautala are both sitting MLAs and could stand disqualified from contesting the assembly elections next year if their conviction is not stayed by a higher court. Under the Representation of the People Act, a person convicted of any offence and sentenced to more than two years imprisonment shall be disqualified from the date of conviction and for a further period of six years after his

Brisbane suburbs to suffer notable flooding on Tuesday One_Mile_Bridge_in_Ipswich

Ex-tropical cyclone Oswald continues to cause destruction along the Queensland coast with damaging winds, heavy rain, flooding, tidal surges and tornados. Across southern Queensland, thousands of people have been affected by the floods and destructive storms. Bundaberg has been particularly badly hit, with authorities estimating than 2,500 homes have been inundated as flood waters continue to rise. Evacuations continue. Many residents have been without electricity since Saturday night. Brisbane residents are faced with a potential drinking water shortage as Brisbane water plant had to be shut down due to silt contamination from Brisbane River flooding. Many Queensland residents are dealing with catastrophic flooding for the second time in two years. Impact from these floods comes as many people are still recovering and rebuilding their lives after the destructive Queensland floods in 2010/2011. More than a 100 Red Cross trained staff and volunteers have provided a safe place to stay and personal support to thousands of people in twenty evacuation shelters along the Queensland coast, including at Bundaberg, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Ipswich, Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley. Red Cross is standing by to provide support to Rockhampton and Logan City as needed. Some suburbs expected to experience flooding are: Acacia Ridge, Albion, Auchenflower, Barellan Point, Breakfast Creek, Bowen Hills, Brassall, Bundamba, Carina, Carindale, Camira, Cannon Hill, Churchill, East Ipswich, Goodna, Hemmant, Herston, Karalee, Karana Downs, Leichhardt, Lytton, Milton, Moggill, Moores Pocket, Mount Crosby, Murarrie, Newmarket, Newstead, North Booval, North Ipswich, Nudgee Beach, One Mile, Oxley, Pinjarra Hills, Pinkenba, Redbank, Riverhills, Rocklea, Rosalie, Sadliers Crossing, Sinnamon Park, Tingalpa, Tivoli, West Ipswich, Wilston, Windsor, Wulkuraka, Yamanto. Seqwater was releasing 630 cubic metres per second, enough to submerge upstream bridges at Twin Bridges, Savages Crossing, Colleges Crossing, Burtons Bridge and Kholo Bridge. Seqwater said it planned to increase releases again once flood peaks in the Lockyer Creek and Bremer River had a chance to abate. Thousands of sandbags have been handed out and authorities feared up to 3,500 Brisbane properties could be affected

Coincidentally, Vinod’s first visit to LA was 30 years ago, when he was fresh out of film school and his 20-minute documentary had been nominated for the Oscars. At that time, he had no money and had travelled on an economy ticket paid for by the Government of India along with a $20 per day allowance for five days. Thirty years later, he has made it on his own, living five months out of LA.

As they say, just a drop of lemon can spoil an entire bowl of milk, so goes with makeup. You might be wearing the most expensive and choicest attire, but lousy makeup can spoil your entire look and make you look like a fool in a party or on a date. “Makeup should just be treated as a means to enhance beauty and not an artificial mask,” says Italian dermatologist, professor Torello Lotti, who’s a skin consultant for many Hollywood and Bollywood celebs. Agrees makeup and beauty expert Aakriti Kochar of Oriflame India.

biggest makeup sins

“Small things like badly-blended or the wrong shade of foundation, overtly dark eyebrows, mascara clumps on your eyelashes can completely ruin your look,” says Kochar. Also, make sure your makeup kit isn’t too old, as spoilt makeup can play havoc on your look. It’s also a good idea to take professional help in case you are not sure of the nitty-gritties and the perfect strokes. So, as you get set to scorch in the party season, ensure you do not commit these makeup faux pas.

UNEVEN FOUNDATION WRONG SHADE OF CONCEALER

Before you start with the whole makeup process, it’s a great idea to hide marks and spots on your face with a concealer, but ensure you go for the right shade that matches your skin tone. Else, you might end up looking like US reality TV star Kim Kardashian here, who’s otherwise quite a style pro but probably was in a hurry while doing up her undereye concealing.

DARK LIP LINER WITH LIGHT LIP COLOUR

Yes, surely enough, dark lip liners were a trend in the 80’s, but not anymore. While wearing a lip liner isn’t that big a makeup faux pas, but certainly not a darker tone compared to your lipstick like Naomi Campbell has done here. Match your lip liner with your lipstick or keep a few basic lip liners close to the shades of lipsticks you wear.

DARK EYEBROWS

Control your emotions while filling the eye-brows. It’s very important to know where to stop. Eyebrow pencils are meant to touch up your brows and not use like crayons. Use the eyebrow pencil with gentle stokes to fill in the gaps, unless you want to look like how actor-singer Katy Perry is looking here.

Australias Australias Community Community Magazine Magazine

Probably the lights went off midway while actor Ameesha Patel was doing her makeup so the foundation and blush on her face didn’t quite blend with the shades on her neck and collar bone area. Well, you shouldn’t be doing this mistake, contrasting skin colours on your face and neck can make you look like a quite a mannequin.

CLUMPY MASCARA

Even if you have done the most perfect makeup, clumpy mascara on your eye lashes can make you look clumsy. So, before you head out, don’t forget to check the mirror for any mascara clumps that may be caused due to overdoing the mascara or drying out of your mascara. And yes, if you want to sport that very ‘in’ smoky eye look, take professional help in case you are doing it for the first time, unless you want to look ghostly. CAKEY MAKEUP Putting on too much make up on your face like American singer-songwriter Christina Aguilera has done it here, can make you look quite a horror. Makeup is best kept simple and should never look like a mask. Over-the-top makeup not only looks artificial but doesn’t serve any purpose except for being an eye sore! Also, don’t forget to match the colour of your eyebrows to the colour of your scalp hair.

As the year kicks off and actors inspire new trends with their onscreen attire, here are five recent films that made style statements. Over the years, the silver screen has inspired a number of fashion trends. From Sadhna’s iconic haircut in the ’60s to Kareena Kapoor’s T-shirt over patialas in Jab We Met (2007). We get Priya Tanna, editor, Vogue India, to pick out the most striking ones in the past five years.

that set fashion trends

Fashion

Band Baaja Baraat

Anushka Sharma in snug short kurtis and generous patialas brought the flavour of Punjab to our wardrobes. Unapologetically bright, vibrant and vivacious, with a distinct Bunty Aur Babli (2005) hangover, the film raised a sartorial toast to the ubiquitous salwar kurti.

Aisha

For me and for every girl whose 20-something self was inspired by Alicia Silverstone’s Cher Horowitz in Clueless, this film is a throwback to those times. Preppy, pretty, lady-like fashion this is the film that made Sonam Kapoor Bollywood’s fiercest proponent and purveyor of style.

Cocktail

The ultimate makeover film. Take a good girl like Deepika Padukone, and put her in leather skirts, men’s shirts and itsy bikinis. Give her bed head, and a bronze glow and you have a look most of us dream of, but very few dare.

Student of the Year

English Vinglish

Gossip Girl met Pretty Little Liars with Alia Bhatt’s Shanaya, who made us wish we could go back to school. Her wardrobe comprised labels ranging from Alice + Olivia and Manish Malhotra to Hermès, her look was young, glamorous and cute to the core.

Can you take a cotton sari, a humble bindi, and a trench coat and rock the look? English Vinglish showed us that you certainly can. As Sridevi appeared shot after shot in a delicious palette of cotton saris, with her hair held back in an unassuming braid, accessorised by a bindi and those expressive eyes, it was easy to fall in love with her crisp, clean and demure housewife, Shashi, as she embarked upon an interesting personal journey in America.

Health

When the opposition in question is an adamant disease like cancer, our armoury should be packed with a lifestyle of regular health check-ups and a diet including foods that double as anti-cancer agents.

8

Indian spices that prevent cancer

When actress Lisa Ray was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a relatively rare cancer of the bone marrow, all she said was, “I’ll beat cancer”. Carrying this spirit of defeating a disease often labelled ‘incurable’, we try to find out diet methods, especially in the selection of spices that can avert the multiplying of malignant cells in the body that gradually mature into insurmountable cancer cells. Our grandmothers would in no time prepare us a glass of warm milk with saffron sprinkled on top when we went crying to her with bruise on our knee or wound on the elbow. The herbal turmeric paste soothed minor cuts and healed all skin rashes. These age-old

1

Turmeric/Curcumin: This is the king of spices when it comes to dealing with cancer diseases, besides it adding a zesty colour to our food on the platter. Turmeric contains the powerful polyphenol Curcumin that has been clinically proven to retard the growth of cancer cells causing prostrate cancer, melanoma, breast cancer, brain tumour, pancreatic cancer and leukemia amongst a host of others. Curcumin promotes ‘Apoptosis’- (programmed cell death/cell suicide) that safely eliminates cancer breeding cells without posing a threat to the development of other healthy cells. In cases of conventional radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the surrounding cells too become a target in addition to the cancer cells. Therefore, the sideeffects are imminent.

kitchen tricks are little more than mere quick-fix tactics. Spices like turmeric and saffron are inherent with medicinal properties that, when incorporated to our diet from an early stage strengthens our bodies against invasion of toxins, bacteria and virus. Senior consultant surgical oncologist Dr. B. Niranjan Naik and senior clinical nutritionist, Fortis La Femme, Shipra Saklani Mishra, inform us about the goodness of Indian spices with cancer-fighting properties and the necessity of their inclusion to our eating habits.

2

Fennel:

Armed with phytonutrients and antioxidants, cancer cells have nothing but to accept defeat when the spice is fennel. ‘Anethole’, a major constituent of fennel resists and restricts the adhesive and invasive activities of cancer cells. It suppresses the enzymatic regulated activities behind cancer cell multiplication. A tomato-fennel soup with garlic or fresh salads with fennel bulbs make for an ideal entree prior to an elaborate course meal. Roasted fennel with parmesan can be another star pick.

A natural carotenoid dicarboxylic acid called ‘Crocetin’ is the primary cancer-fighting element that saffron contains. It not only inhibits the progression of the disease but also decreases the size of the tumour by half, guaranteeing a complete goodbye to cancer. Though it is the most expensive spice in the world for it is derived from around 250,000 flower stigmas (saffron crocus) that make just about half a kilo, a few saffron threads come loaded with benefits you won’t regret paying for. Saffron threads can be used in various ways:

4

Cumin:

Yes, it aids digestion and probably that is why we like chewing a handful of cumin seeds at the end of every meal. However, its health benefits go beyond. A portent herb with anti-oxidant characteristics, cumin seeds contain a compound called ‘Thymoquinone’ that checks proliferation of cells responsible for prostate cancer. So, instead of loading your usual snack options with calories and oil, add this seasoning to your bread, fried beans or sauce and make the dish rich in flavour and high on health. You can rediscover the magic of cumin in your regular bowl of tadka dal and rice too!

5

Cinnamon:

It takes not more than a half teaspoon of cinnamon powder every day to keep cancer risk away. A natural food preservative, cinnamon is a source of iron and calcium. Useful in reducing tumour growth, it blocks the formation of new vessels in the human body. Some of the effective ways of including cinnamon in your diet are: -Start your day with a cup of cinnamon tea (in leaf or sachet) -Make your breakfast meal a super healthy one; just add this wonder spice to your morning oatmeal and you are going well! -A fruity delight comprising chopped apples, a few walnuts and your magic potion cinnamon -Honey and cinnamon in your glass of milk before going to bed; no cancer nightmares assured!

Others: Cloves, anise, basil, garlic, caraway, fenugreek, mustard, mint leaves, rosemary, Limonin (fresh lemon), virgin olive, vinegar and avocado are other cancer-fighting diet components. Australias Australias Community Community Magazine Magazine

6

Oregano:

Health

3

Saffron:

More than a pizza or pasta topping, oregano confirms its worth as a potential agent against prostate cancer. Consisting of anti-microbial compounds, just one teaspoon of oregano has the power of two cups of red grapes! Phytochemical ‘Quercetin’ present in oregano restricts growth of malignant cells in the body and acts like a drug against cancer-centric diseases.

7

Cayenne Pepper/Capsaicin (Chilli peppers):

A promising spice with anti-cancer properties, an overdose of chilli peppers however should be restrained. Capsaicin induces the process of apoptosis that destroys potential cancer cells and reduces the size of leukemia tumour cells considerably. It can be concluded that apart from setting our tongues on fire, chilli peppers can scare cancer pathogens off too

8

Cover Story Gujarat was hosting the 6th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. It was back in 2003 that we organized the first of this biennial event and I am glad to say that the past five summits have been a resounding success and made a strong contribution to the development journey of Gujarat by attracting investments worth Rs. 820 billion. These summits have immensely contributed in making Gujarat a Global Business Hub and been instrumental in creating innumerable opportunities for our people. This year’s Vibrant Gujarat Summit was not just bigger in scale and participation but it created a fascinating confluence of knowledge, thoughts and ideas from around the world for sustainable, holistic and inclusive development. For those three days top-level diplomats, high-powered delegations from over 120 nations would converge at the iconic Mahatma Mandir and other places in Gujarat. From India we had captains of industry, top companies and most of the Indian states participating. More than 125 different kinds of seminars, discussions, conferences and talks are a part of the Summit.

World has taken note of Gujarat

This high level of participation by so many nations as well as states was not a small thing. It was a manifestation of the fact that the world has taken note of the Gujarat model of development. And if there was someone who was worthy of congratulations it was the 6 crore people of Gujarat. It was their hard work and sweat that has made Gujarat synonymous with development not only in India but also across the world. The 2013 Vibrant Gujarat Summit was unique because it was going beyond the conventional considerations of hardcore financial investments. A key focus area for this summit was the knowledge sector. History has shown that whenever we have entered an era of knowledge, it is our great nation that has shown the way. The 21st century is the century of knowledge and if we want to take on the mantle of the leadership of the world, we will need to strengthen our knowledge creation and spreading mechanisms. That is why knowledge sector is a prime area of focus.

Gujarat’s development journey is now on an auto pilot mode. With robust world class infrastructure, business friendly policies and the unflinching commitment of its people for growth, Gujarat has achieved a consistent double digit growth rate. We have been holding Vibrant Gujarat Summit since the year 2003. With the support of all the stakeholders, it has grown from an investment promotion event to a growth propelling event. The event that had started as a business meet, has today metamorphosed into aninternational knowledge sharing platform. The Vibrant Gujarat Summit is not only a global event but also a globally sought- after event. Participation in this event is a good business decision in itself…other transactions are just by products.

Welcom e to Gujarat, welcome to the sixth Vibrant Gujarat Summit. Welcome to Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2013.

Several MoUs were signed and anyone got an opportunity to interact with many of the sharpest minds that have made a mark for themselves in academics. It’s certain that the universities of Gujarat will gain immensely from an event such as this. Another area of focus of the 2013 Vibrant Gujarat Summit was Small and Medium Industries Sector. A few days back in Surat attending a gems and jewelry exhibition where Government of India data that stated that growth of small industry in India stands at around 19% whereas in Gujarat the figure is 85%! The biennial Vibrant Gujarat Summits have contributed immensely in this. At the same time, this was a fitting answer to the handful anti-Gujarat elements that have time and again tried to cast misleading aspersions on the industrial development of Gujarat.

Focus on technology exchange

Through the Summit, continue the focus on technology exchange, skill development and innovation so that the youngsters get the best of opportunities to fulfill their various dreams. We want each one of you to create your own path of growth and add to the prosperity of our state and our nation. A separate pavilion has been given to promote entrepreneurship among women.

onest people Healthier & Happier

Being honest may actually improve your health suggests a study that found that telling fewer lies benefits people physically and mentally. For this ‘honesty experiment’, research from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, studied 110 individuals aged 18 to 71 over a 10-week period. Each week, the participants visited a laboratory to complete health and relationship measures and to take a polygraph test assessing the number of major lies and white lies they had told that week. “Recent evidence indicates that Americans average about 11 lies per week. We wanted to find out if living more honestly can actually cause better health,” Sydney Morning Herald quoted lead author Anita Kelly, a psychology professor at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, as saying. “We found that the participants could purposefully and dramatically reduce their everyday lies, and that in turn was associated with significantly improved health,” she said. Researchers instructed half the participants to stop telling lies for the 10 weeks. The instructions said “refrain from telling any lies for any reason to anyone. You may omit truths, refuse to answer questions, and keep secrets, but you cannot say anything that you know to be false.” The other half who served as a control group received no such instructions.Over the study period, t h e link between less lying and improved health was significantly stronger for participants in the no-lie group, the study found. As an example, when participants in the no-lie group told three fewer white lies than they did in other weeks, they experienced, on average, about four fewer mental-health complaints and about three fewer physical complaints. For the control group, when they told three fewer white lies, they experienced two fewer mental-health complaints and about one less physical complaint. The pattern was similar for major lies, Kelly said. For both groups, when participants lied less in a given week, they reported their physical health and mental health to be significantly better that week. And for those in the more truthful group, telling fewer lies led them to report improvements in close personal relationships. Overall, they reported that their social interactions had gone more smoothly, the study found.

Life Style

For some it is a mere piece of clothing and for some a stylish piece of accessory. But, all said and done, stockings in all colours, prints, materials and styles are a big hit this season.

Time to stock up colourful

stockings!

Use a durable pair to overcoats, skirts, tunics and dresses to not just keep yourself warm and snug but also pick colourful ones to add a dash of fashion quotient to your winter look, designers suggest.

“Apart from classic black, beige and ivory, coloured stockings are a big trend. This season, stockings in jewel tones are in vogue, especially in the berry palette of burgundy, wine, purple and brinjal,” designer Aniket Satam told IANS. The trend has dominated foreign runways, and it is now hitting the Indian fashion industry in a big way. It is especially bold colours and printed designs which are making a huge splash in the branded as well as flea market scene. Available at anything above Rs.45 a pair, stockings come in seamed, fishnet, woollen and nylon. They may be thigh-high, pantyhose, anklets and knee-high- make your pick according to your comfort, body structure and requirement. “Sheer stockings will look funny in winters,” warns designer Vandy Mehra. “In colours, black is a staple, but a deep blue is another great option. My personal recommendation would be a self-patterned black stocking, but paisley-printed stockings are a rage. Even polka-dot stockings is a hot buy this season and pairs up with almost all the garments,” Mehra told IANS. Internationally, celebrities like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce Knowles and Victoria Beckham have flaunted stockings unabashedly at red carpet events, and created fashion statements. But in India, celebrities are yet to popularise the trend. “Celebrities in India are not as open about their wardrobe details as it is in the west. But, for sure, stockings are seen more as a utility item till now. That is changing. It is getting its status of an accessory and the wish to experiment with it more is becoming evident,” said Mehra. Whether it is a college-going girl or a working woman, stockings can be worn by anyone and everyone - and they go with all kinds of looks. But teaming it with the right apparel is important. “Play with brighter tones of leggings with dark dresses. Printed dresses or skirts need solid stockings. However, be careful about how much lighter or darker your stockings are as compared to your clothing. If the stockings are darker, your legs will appear slimmer,” said designer Nidhi Munim. “It is time we gave our wardrobe the 1960s glam by sporting chromatic polka dot stockings. Pair a monochrome polka dot stocking with a solid black dress and slip on a sequined waistcoat that matches your pumps (footwear),” suggested Munim. Follow a basic rule- do not mix a printed dress with a pair of

Australias Australias Community Community Magazine Magazine

printed stockings. “Always look for a balance, where one of the pieces in the ensemble has to be toned down for the other to stand out,” says Mehra. Don’t forget suitable footwear to complete the look! Right footwear is a must trick one must master before sporting stockings. Go for heels which look sturdy and avoid chunky platforms. Delicate strappy mess should be avoided; instead opt for old school Mary Jane styles or traditional pumps,” said designer Shouger Merchant Doshi. “Plain black shoes with wedge heels and pumps look great with a polka dot black and white stocking. A pair of plain boots, paired with printed stockings, will look chic,” added Doshi.

Rhymes in EnglishPost man

Dekho ek daakiya aaya Thaila ek haath mein laaya. Pehne hai woh khaakhi kapde Chithhi kayi haath mein pakde. Baat rahaa ghar?ghar mein chithhi Mujko bhi do laakar chithhi. Chithhi mein sandesha aaya Shaadi mein hai hume bulaya. Shaadi mein sab jayenge hum Khoob mithai khaayenge hum

See , there comes a post man, A bag , he brings in his hand, Wears he a Khaki dress, Holds he a bundle of letters, He was giving letter to each home, Gave he a letter to me, In the letter was a message, They had invited me for a wedding, We will all go to the wedding, We will all eat a lot of sweets.

Ding Dong Bell Ding dong bell, Little fishes in the well, Who put them in, Little Renu thin, Who put them out? Little Akash stout, What a naughty boy was he, To try to kill the poor little fishes, That never did add any dirt, And kept the water of the well fresh

Famous Indian personalities Mahathma Gandhi(Bapu)

Our Country was being ruled by many people of foreign origin and the last of them were British. They came to India as merchants. Since they were more interested in the wealth of their country, large number of Indians wanted to drive them away. Most of them waged war against them. But none of them succeeded. Then a young lawyer called Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi at the scene. He said the only way to drive them out was by means of non violence. By civil disobedience movements (sathyagraha) he was able to make them leave our country. He lead a life of a poor man and preferred to stay in a hut rather than in palaces. The grateful nation called him “Mahatma (Great soul)” and the common man called him “Bapu”. After independence, he was shot dead by a fanatic called Godse.
