As moving house can be a stressful time, we have put together a guide to help you in the weeks approaching your move.

3 Weeks To Go

2 Weeks To Go

Confirm estimates and removal dates from removal firms. Ask about packing, unpacking & insurance during your move.

Begin to discard unwanted items from the cupboards, attic and sheds. If you require assistance with clearing your house, please give us a call and we will put you in touch with one of our recommended contractors.

If you are moving yourself, check your home contents insurance policy for cover in transit and at your new address.

Arrange for the Post Office to redirect your mail.

Correspond with your Building Society / Bank and any Credit Card Companies advising them of your new address and amending standing orders etc.

Arrange for electric, gas, telephone and other accounts to be finalised and sort out the new accounts for your new home.

Book an electrician and plumber, if required, to disconnect and refit appliances from your old address to your new address.

Notify your dentist and doctor for your medical records to be transferred to your new practices. Confirm school transfers.

Double-check your correct change of address with: - Electoral Register - Bank / Building Society, Insurance Companies, Premium Bonds and other Savings Certificates, Credit Card Companies and Store Accounts - Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre and Mortgage Organisations - Inland Revenue, Local Council Office, Social Security Office - Clubs and other memberships, newspapers / magazines and other subscriptions - Milk & any other direct delivery service - Relatives and friends

Inform your employer of your move, confirming whether you require time off work.

Selling & Moving...

1 Week To Go Confirm moving arrangements with your removal firm or van hire.

Clearly label any items you are leaving for the new owners and remove any fixed objects not included in your sale.

Moving Today Strip beds and pack bedding, nightclothes, towels etc.

Gather all keys for your existing property and arrange their handover.

Take down curtains if they are not being left behind and remove rugs and loose floor coverings that are going with you.

Make up a tool kit with screwdriver, pliers, knife, hammer, hooks, bulbs etc. and keep it handy.

Check all storage spaces and rooms are clear, lock all doors and windows, check kids and pets are on board!

Make sure loft, garden shed and other storage places have been cleared out ready for the removal / new owner.

Make a note of, and photograph, all Gas and Electricity meter readings. Leave a note of the reading for the new owner and if possible email the photographic reading to us.

Advise your solicitor of the expected time of your move so they can ensure all completion money has been transferred from buyer to seller, prior to your arrival.

Moving Tomorrow Defrost freezer and pack your picnic, kettle & the tool box into your car.

Complete packing, except for food, clothing and toiletries required for the moving day.

Have cash available to deal with unexpected expenses.

Clean down all paintwork and working surfaces, including sanitary ware.

Check with us to see if the new owner is moving in today, as they may ask you to leave the heating and utilities on.

Ask if you can have the readings for the property you are moving to and if the utilities can be left on so the house is warm for your arrival.

Leave keys with us or as arranged with the new owners.

Collect your new keys from the agent, solicitors or the previous owners, as agreed.

Choosing our fully managed service includes regular inspections of your property. We are here to make sure your tenant is taking complete care of your investment.

If you have chosen to manage your own property, we encourage you to undertake regular inspections.

Needing Repairs

Just like your own home, your property may require repairs and maintenance from time to time. Your tenant needs this done as swiftly and professionally as possible. We work closely with a maintenance team who guarantee a quality finish. If you have chosen our fully managed service, this will be taken care of for you. We can also use your preferred tradesman if requested.

The Check Out

We are here to make sure everything is as it should be.

You expect your property to be left in the same condition as you gave it to us. Once we are satisfied that your property is clean, in good condition and the inventory is in order, the deposit is then requested to be released. We are now ready for your next tenant to make your property their home.
