Soldier killed in Gurez Grenade blast Srinagar, July 20: An army soldier was killed in a grenade blast at Gurez sector in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Official sources told GNS that a patrolling party of army’s 36 RR who were conducting searches following the suspected movement in the Gurez sector near Line of Control (LoC) since last couple of days. “Last night as the combing operation to flush out the militants in the area was intensified, a live grenade suddenly slipped from one of the army man which exploded”, sources said. They said that in the blast the army personnel, sepoy Harjinder Singh sustained critical splinter injuries and was immediately airlifted to army’s hospital here in Srinagar for treatment. However, Singh succumbed to injuries before reaching the hospital. Pertinently, Army on July 18 had claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid near Line of Control (LoC) in the same sector. (GNS)

08 injured in road accidents Srinagar, July 20 : Eight persons were injured in different road accident across the valley. A statement issued to KNS stated that Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK01R/9377 hit a motorcycle bearing registration number JK01N/0127 near Tatoo Ground, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Batamaloo resulting in injuries to motorcyclist Mohammad Amin Beigh son of Ghulam Qadir and his son Irfan Ahmad Beigh. Both the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. Police has registered a case in this regard. Meanwhile, an Auto load carrier bearing registration number JK15/1047 driven by Imtiyaz Ahmed Khan resident of Pazalpora hit and injured two pedestrians Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh son of Aalam Din Shiekh resident of Aloosa and Farooq Ahmed Chowhan son of Mohammad Hussain Chowhan resident of Khunusa at Ongam in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bandipora. Man injured in bear attack in Kupwara Srinagar, July 20: A man was injured after attacked by a wild bear in a forest area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday. Mohammad Rafeeq, 40, a resident of Nonwai, Kalaroos was attacked by a wild bear at JP top area near Z-Gali forest area where he was grazing his cattle, a police official said. Rafeeq’s cries grab attention among the army men deployed in the area and local residents who within no time reached the spot and finally freed him under the knees of wild bear, he said. He sustained multiple injuries on his face, head and shoulders and was immediately brought to ADS, Z Gali, by army personnel, where he was given prompt treatment by army doctor and paramedical Staff, the official said. “Subsequently the injured was evacuated to Block medical Centre, Kalaroos for further surgical intervention”.

Addressing a news conference at Jammu, AICC General Secretary and in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir party Affairs, Ambika Soni said that the party high command has decided to go all alone in the upcoming Assembly Elections in the state which are likely to be held in the October-November this year. She said that the votes in Lok Sabha elections were not transferred to each other resulting in the debacle and added that there was not much of help that came from our alliance partner in previous elections. Mrs. Soni said that after extensive talks with Congress leaders and workers at all levels, the party has come to the conclusion that we are going to fight the forthcoming Assembly elections on our own strength. Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who was present at the press conference, said the party wants to emerge as the single largest party in the state.

Meanwhile Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sunday disclosed that he had met the All India Congress Committee (AICC) chairperson Sonia Gandhi 10-days ago conveying her that NC will not forge any prepoll alliance with the state Congress for the upcoming assembly elections in the state. According to KNS correspondent, in their objections wherein they questioned the maintainability of the PIL, the two doctors had quoted a letter of Dr U. Singh, professor and HOD of PMR AIIMS, New Delhi who had suggested that diploma in PMR was available only in a few states and the candidates for the same were admitted from their respective states quota only. Jammu, July 20: In yet another attempt to attack the Indian Territory, Pakistan troops on Sunday targeted three posts including Pital of the Border Security Force (BSF) in RS Pura sector of Jammu region. We even nominated the candidates for the Jammu region. The fact is that I already had informed Congress that keeping the experience of parliament elections in view, NC is not going to join hands with it for the assembly polls.” Omar remarked further that an ‘unusual’ hype was given to the issue with the state Congress leaders saying no to pre-poll. “My party leaders did not go to press and issued detailed statements over the issue. Congress did. Let they fight alone and we will fight alone.” The chief minister stated that during the recently held parliamentary polls in Jammu and Kashmir, national conference transferred the votes in the favour of Congress at Jammu region but contrary was witnessed in valley. “It is quite obvious; NC didn’t get the Congress votes in valley. If votes would have been transferred, the situation today would have been different,” Omar told KNS. Omar, however, refused to comment over the reports that the former chief minister and a senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad met the PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. “I cannot comment anything over the issue,” said Omar. He added that if alliance ahead of polls would have been forged with the Congress, the same would have caused much damage to NC. “If the things of the past would have been repeated in the assembly elections, the same could have caused damage. Now both the parties will contest the elections separately. Let us see who performs better. Good thing about the decision is that we would not witness further damage.” About the reports that NC president and patron Dr Farooq Abdullah is not contesting the forthcoming assembly elections in the state, Omar maintained that the health condition of his father is not allowing him to contest the assembly elections. “No Dr Sahib is not contesting this time. SDA Farooq Ahmad of Bemina recently approached the SDA authorities with an official payment receipt of Rs 5 lakh, purportedly issued by SDA, against a plot at its Housing Colony Bemina. The amount had been shown to be deposited in the name of Vice-Chairman SDA through a Bank Draft prepared at J&K Bank. The SDA authorities got suspicious of the genuineness of the receipt as they found some forged entries in its serial number and on internal inquiry it turned out to be fake. The matter was immediately referred to the police by the Vice-Chairman SDA, and the police after preliminary investigations found that around a dozen SDA plots have been sold / transferred fraudulently and crores of rupees have so far changed hands in the plot-selling racket involving a group of land brokers and some SDA employees. Police is also investigating the role of some JK Bank employees of a particular branch in the scandal, who facilitated preparation of fake Bank Drafts.

Any such effort to permit continuance of such doctors, notwithstanding the fact that they would have acquired some experience in the field during the course of their illegal appointment could negate the effort of specialized bodies like the MCI at achieving academic execellenec in the medical faculty besides jeopardizing the patent care in the hospitals,” said the Court. Mohammad Khurshid Alam while castigating NC over the issue, stated that it is indeed shameful that the state machinery is now being used for preparing stage for the national conference. He stated that 19 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been removed in Khaniyar constituency alone and the same is being done without even informing the election commission.Substantiating his claims, Alam stated that on May 2, 2014, BLO accused said that a senior National Conference minister of hindering poll process in Khanyar to pave way for bogus voting. Booth Level Officer (BLO) also submitted a written complaint before assistant returning officer (ARO) Srinagar. He alleged that two female BLOs were also threatened by the minister and made to leave their polling booths. Abdul Qayoom Wani, who was deputed as BLO on booth number 29 at Makhdoom Mandav on April 30 during voting for the Srinagar parliamentary constituency, alleged that the minister asked him to leave the booth.The BLO said that the senior NC minister also visited booth number 27 and 30 at Khaziyar and Gakhan in Khanyar. “Two female BLOs were stationed there who were forced to leave the booths,” he said. He alleged that the minister asked them to leave or police would be called in to drag them out. The female BLOs, wishing not to be named, confirmed the incident. They have also verbally informed higher officials about the incident.Alam remarked that now the NC is hell bent upon removing the hones ones and replace them with their own men so that another chapter of deception is added to the history of elections.

Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan, Waleed Abu Ali and other top notches of Pakistani society and government participated in the conference. Mirwaiz stated that Kashmir being an oppressed nation and a part of Islamic ummah has full sympathy and solidarity with the Palestinian people and their cause. Asserting that Muslims have emotional attachments with the Palestine, he stated that the most sacred place of Muslim bait-ul-Muqadas was being occupied and kept out of bounds for the Muslim worshipers. He said it was highly unfortunate that 1.5 billion Muslims and 56 Muslim countries could not hammer out a consensus to formulate a policy regarding the solution of Palestinian cause. He stated that world community has always exhibited double standards when it comes to Kashmir and Palestine, adding, it is open the world community has actively solved the disputes like that of east Timor and South Sudan. Mirwaiz stated that Kashmir and Palestine were issues of same nature since they were the main sources of instability and tension in South Asia and Middle East. He stated that people of both these nations are subjected to oppression and torture and world has turned a blind eye towards these issues thus reflecting the double standards of global world. (KNS)
