PDP has ability to solve people’s problems: Mehbooba

Says NC employing all tricks for political survival Srinagar, Aug, 10 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti, Sunday, said PDP has been able to inspire confidence, among a majority of the people in all the regions of the state, about its ability to solve the multiple problems faced by Jammu and Kashmir on political, economic, administrative and financial front. According to a statement issued to KNS, while addressing a meeting of the prominent leaders, office bearers, and prominent workers of North Kashmir here today, she said the party, with a decisive mandate, will carry forward its agenda of political resolution, good governance and employment generation and convert Jammu and Kashmir into a real welfare state. Mehbooba said apart from political, administrative and financial mess that the present coalition government has pushed the state into the new challenges which can be addressed if the PDP, under Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, gets a clear mandate from the people. She said vision, of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed about the resolution of political problems of the state, is already underway after the historic initiatives of 2003. The PDP Chief, who represents South Kashmir in Lok Sabha, said the Prime Minister- Vajpayee’s bold initiatives were possible only when a chief minister of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s political sagacity, maturity and vision was at the helm in the state. Till then his (Vajpay-

ee’s) ally government led by NC in the state, with a brute majority of 60 members in the assembly, had compromised on already every issue ranging from recommendation of bombing Pakistan to banning of new schools, recruitment to government jobs, banning shahtoos a n d handing over the best power projects to the Centre. Mehbooba said the Lok Sabha elections have provided a credible platform for the workers and cadres of the party to build for a decisive mandate from the people. “Instead of breedi n g

over-confidence or complacence, it should inspire us to reach out to all sections of society and those who still are not convinced about our intentions and agenda need to be approached with humility.” She said the political subversion and uncertainty that the state has faced in the last seven decades has already taken a heavy toll on the state, its economy and human resources and it can ill afford any further disruption and the attempts being made currently by See PDP onpg 07...

Black smoke billowed from the mass of burnt out twisted metal, with officials saying the plane hit a wall and trees. Palestinians accept new 72-hour ceasefire offer Gaza, August 10: Bloodbath in Gaza continued unabated on Sunday with Israeli jets pounding the coastal strip, even as the fragile peace process got a new lease of life with Palestinian negotiators saying they have accepted an Egyptian proposal for a new 72-hour truce with Israel. We are here to look for an agreement. We cannot have an agreement without talks, so we accepted an Egyptian proposal to have a cease-fire for 72 hours in order to resume the talks," a Palestinian negotiator said on Sunday. The decision was confirmed by other Palestinian negotiators as well, Al-Arabiya reported. It was not yet known as to when the ceasefire would come into effect as there was no response from the Israeli side. The Palestinian decision came after Israel said it was prepared for a protracted military action in Gaza and would not return to Egyptian-mediated "negotiations under fire". The Palestinian decision could pave the

way for renewed negotiations with Israel on a long-term durable truce in the Gaza Strip. Earlier, Palestinian negotiators said

they would leave if Israel did not attend without preconditions. "If the Israelis do not come, we will leave to consult with our leadership," said Izzat Al-Risheq, a member of the Palestinian negotiation team. "We gave our demands to see Offer on pg 07...

Modi.... deployed around 3,000 soldiers on the glacier where temperatures can drop to minus 60 degrees and almost 80% posts are located above 16,000 feet, with Bana post towering above the rest at 21,753 feet. Holding on to Siachen has cost the army more than 860 lives over the last 30 years, with extreme climate and terrain chiefly to blame. Guarding the glacier also costs Rs 5 crore daily. Several rounds of talks between India and Pakistan on demilitarizing the glacier have failed in the past. Successive army chiefs have warned against withdrawing from the glacier until Pakistan authenticates troop positions, as it would be a formidable task to reclaim Siachen. (KNS)

Army.... Chief visited the Siachen Glacier. He paid tribute to the brave soldiers who had laid down their life in this sector by laying a floral wreath at the Siachen War Memorial. In his address to the troops at the Siachen Base Camp, the Army Chief applauded the efforts put in by the brave soldiers of the Siachen Brigade. The Army Chief will also visit forward posts of Eastern Ladakh and will review the Army’s defence preparedness in that sector. The Army Chief will also receive the Honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi who is scheduled to visit the region on 12 August 2014. (KNS)

PDP.... some quarters to squeeze the space for its residents will have to be met with maturity, wisdom, collective action and democratic assertion of our rights. Mehbooba said the credentials of the PDP, in the government and in opposition, are impressive and any comparison of this party with NC is not only out of place, but patently unfair. She said NC has been the dominant political force in the state from last eight decades, half of which period it has been with power with huge electoral majority. Compare to that, she said, Mufti saab has spent most of his political life in opposition and struggling to establish an alternative in a unipolar political system where NC was the only dominant orbiter. “Our comparison is logical and fair only if one considers the 36 months of Mufti saabled government with the more than 36-years during which NC enjoyed power,” she said. Mehbooba said the doors of the PDP are open for all the people who have good of the state at heart, and it was positive that professionals and non-professional people who have distinguished themselves in different fields are joining the party in large numbers in all the regions. She said the prospects of a rout in the coming elections have frustrated the government and it is employing all tricks to somehow survive on the political landscape. Mehbooba said the NC-led government is trying to employ strong arm methods against the officials and the workers of the PDP to harass them into submission on the other hand they are making false promises, fake and funny foundation laying and ribbon cutting ceremonies and inventing new methods of selling non-existent jobs. “They have even created a category of employees who are issued orders against unpaid vacancies,” she said and remarked that creation of an unpaid category of employees could only be attributed to the genius of NC, which has used ‘azadi’, ‘raishumari’ and ‘autonomy’ in the past with good results for itself but unpaid category of employees would certainly boomerang on them and this would be their last dirty trick to be played on innocent and gullible people. She said even for unpaid jobs, the agents of the ruling parties are collecting money from the youth. Reminding the party functionaries about the need of voter registration, Mehbooba said they should make sure that every voters gets registered, who have not registered themselves till now. Speaking on the occasion the party General Secretary, Mohammad Dilawar Mir, said the PDP is strong enough to take up the emerging challenges, posed by the different forces in the state, head-on, but for that the party cadres have to work hard on the ground and make a close liaison with the people. “There are forces active on ground with dangerous agenda to divide the people on the name of religion and region and their every attempt has to be defeated with firmness,” he said. Mir blamed both National Conference and Congress leadership for the mess in the state and said they have to answer for all the frauds and atrocities they have committed in the state over the years. Nizam u Din Bhat, Abdul Haq Khan, Sofi Gh Mohi U Din, Javid Hussain Baig, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Naeem Akhtar, Mohammad Yasir Reshi, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Abbas WAni, Gh Nabi Pandithpori, Raja Aijaz Ali, Nazir Ahmad Naiku, Raja Manzoor and others were also present on the ocaassion. (KNS)

Finance... not contest polls but will monitor work for her candidates and try to make them victorious. “Come what may be the results, the party candidates shall continue to put their hard efforts to reach the people especially youth and downtrodden to redress their grievance at state and central level,” she said.

Yatra.... detailed discussions with the Medical officers and requested them to identify the preventive measures which could prevent loss of precious lives in future Yatras. The Governor asked the CEO to immediately launch a full scale post-Yatra sanitation drive, fully involving the Pahalgam and Sonamarg Development Authorities, so that the entire Yatra area is effectively cleaned up in the next few days. The CEO stated that over 3.72 lakh Yatris paid their obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine during this year’s pilgrimage, which had commenced on 28th June, from the Baltal route and on 2nd July from the Pahalgam route. Sahil has come a long way into the forays of real estate sector and oil and gas industry which has put him in the league of top players of entrepreneurs in the Country. According to KNS His real name is Sajid Peerzada, residents of Sopore town in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. People of valley know very little about him other than that his family lived in Sopore some two decades ago. Sahil runs business of Jewelry and construction in Mumbai which clicked successfully and made him to add yet another feather to his cap and company’s illustrious operations with the new venture of Oil and Gas in Cyprus. Sahil leads Expandable Infra Pvt. Ltd, an Indian Consulting and Investment Company in the Real estate and energy sector, which has pledged investment in a national project. Expandable Infra has pumped in mega bucks in ‘AGR’ and the ‘Zenon Consortium’. The company has invested in the oil well rig management in partnership with AGR. Many people are satisfied with a couple of successful businesses, but Sahil Peerzada always strives to explore new fields for business opportunities. According to this enterprising and feisty businessman the ability to spot an opportunity and imagine something where others haven’t is a prerequisite to success in a business venture. Sahil said that Oil and Gas companies across the globe are eyeing for sensible solutions to help them tackle the present-day tasks of a global slowdown. Expandable Consulting, offers innovative engineering solutions that provide unique answers to these challenges in areas of upstream and downstream consulting. “Expandable Infra is also working in partnership with global players in looking at newer options for Oil and Gas exploration blocks”, says Sahil. Expandable Infra Pvt. Ltd led by Sahil has partners with Laksel Technologies, Singapore for the project of Oil & Gas under the banner of Mitas Oil & Gas limited, Cyprus, which has made them first one in the world to refine gas. Sahil Peerzada has successfully initiated and closed a contract that involves large investment with Zenon Consortium in Cyprus. Zenon has been selected by the Government of Cyprus for the redevelopment of the port, the marina and the adjacent land into a prime Mediterranean destination for cruise passengers, leisure boats, entertainment and living. Expandable has made respectable investment in the project and is likely to offer its consulting services as well. Sahil Peerzada’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple yet deep, “Starting a business is not a twofold affair. You don’t have one shot at it. Remember, when Thomas Alva Edison was asked about the multiple failures in his quest to make a light bulb, he answered something like “I have not failed 700 times. I have found 700 different ways not to make a light bulb.” So,
