THE SOLAR OVEN

This was one of the best projects we have done. It’s economical, easy to do and it doesn’t pollute.

First, you have to take a box and put aluminum foil inside the box. Then, you have to do the same thing with black paper but outside the box. After that, you have to do the cover. Cut a square in the middle of the cover but leave it in a way that you can fold it. The cover also has to be wrapped in black paper and finally, you have to stick some transparent paper on the cover.

The black paper is because the heat stays better on black things and gives more heat. The aluminum foil reflects the sunlight in all directions inside the oven and that makes the temperature increase.

When we finished the oven, we put some bread with cheese and “lacasitos” in it. We waited for 2 hours and some minutes and when we went back to see what had happened, the box was hotter and the lacasitos, the cheese and the bread were hot, too. Our ovens have reached between 40-47ºC in ten minutes!
