This assignment focuses on helping students understand the professional requirements and conduct expected of interior designers in Malaysia, particularly those recognized by the Board of Architects Malaysia. Students are required to study legal and regulatory documents, including the *Architects Act 1967*, *Architects Rules 1996*, *Uniform Building By-Laws 1984*, and the PAM/MIID Contract.

The primary goal is to familiarize students with industry-related terminology in contracts, professional practices, and legal frameworks, while also preparing them for subsequent tasks (Assignments 3 and 4).

This task emphasizes comprehensive data collection and analysis and encourages knowledge-sharing among peers. By completing this assignment, students will enhance their professional knowledge and skills, laying a strong foundation for handling real-world projects, adhering to industry standards, and communicating effectively.

In this project, my group explored the active fire safety requirements outlined in Malaysia's *Uniform Building By-Laws* (UBBL) through site observations at Taylor's University. We examined fire alarm systems, suppression measures, emergency exits, evacuation routes, and fire-resistant materials, comparing them to UBBL standards to analyze how regulations impact interior design.

Group collaboration facilitated the sharing of observations and critical analysis of the university's compliance. By integrating theory with practice, we deepened our understanding of fire safety regulations and enhanced our ability to apply them in interior design. This experience provided valuable insights, bridging knowledge and real-world applications, and laid a solid foundation for future projects.

This assignment, titled **"Knowledge Exchange Forum PDW,"** accounts for 35% of the total grade and includes three tasks aimed at fostering academic and personal growth through online forums and seminars. Students must form groups based on themes, submit abstracts, participate in weekly forums, and write 200-word reflections. During Professional Development Week (PDW), students must attend at least six seminars and submit a 500-word summary for each (with text and images in PDF format). The assignment emphasizes professional exchange and knowledge sharing.

Participating in forums and seminars provided a rich learning experience, covering key topics such as registration regulations, contract management, and fire safety. The seminars offered practical knowledge on transitioning from student to professional, attracting top talent, optimizing LinkedIn usage, balancing entrepreneurship and industry roles, exploring the future of interior design in the metaverse, and principles of graphic design. These events expanded our networks and perspectives while equipping us with actionable strategies and innovative approaches. The insights gained will help us drive change in the industry and enhance the professionalism and safety of our practices.

This assignment asks students to reimagine the ideal architectural practice of the future, encouraging them to consider common challenges faced by architects/designers and propose innovative solutions and business models. Students are required to critically evaluate the data from Project 1 and, through this process, clarify their vision and mission when establishing their own design company. By reflecting on their experience in applying business practices, students will gain a clearer understanding of how to drive their company ’ s growth within a business context.

In the "F&W DESIGN STUDIO" project, my group member Wu Jiajing and I envisioned the establishment of a partnership-based interior design consultancy. We developed the company's vision and mission, focusing on addressing contemporary issues and creating positive social, environmental, and economic impacts. To achieve this, we considered specializing in areas like sustainable design, adaptive reuse, and wellness-oriented spaces to stand out in the market. Financial planning was a key aspect of the project. By projecting capital, income, and expenses, we assessed the financial feasibility of starting and running the company, ensuring sustainability and efficient resource management. This project provided us with a valuable learning experience, enhancing our critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and inspiring us to create a socially responsible and successful interior design company in the future.

This assignment requires students to apply the knowledge gained from Project 1 to their individual AIAD2 projects. Each regulatory and technical requirement must be explained in a report, with dimensions, drawings, and materials provided where necessary. Students will be assessed based on their abili apply knowledge. Due to tim design will not change due t will serve as a guideline for fin plans. Students must identif mark it, and propose design co compliance with legal re submission to the local authori

In the final assignment on "By-Law Application and Prerequisites for Building Plan Submission," I thoroughly compared my AIAD2 project with the by-law requirements to check if the design fully complies with the relevant regulations. Through this process, I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of several key factors, including the classification of purpose groups, the proper setting of fire escape routes, and the necessity of designing accessible spaces for people with disabilities. This not only allowed me to identify areas of improvement in the design but also prompted me to reflect on how to optimize details to enhance the safety and functionality of the building. Overall, this assignment provided a valuable opportunity to apply my understanding of by-laws, turning theoretical knowledge into practical application, ultimately refining and ensuring the compliance of the design.

Through the Professional Practice module, I gained valuable knowledge and experience about the interior design industry. This module included four assignments that covered important aspects of interior design, such as legislative and regulatory requirements, industry trends, the process of establishing a design consultancy, and by-law compliance. These tasks not only deepened my understanding of industry regulations but also clarified how to become a competent design professional.

The hybrid learning mode adopted this semester allowed me to manage my study time flexibly while engaging more deeply with course content through both online and in-person interactions. This approach enabled me to absorb and digest knowledge at my own pace.

I am especially grateful for Ms. Yasmin's guidance, as her well-organized course structure made each class both concise and enriching, maximizing the learning value of every session. Overall, this module significantly enhanced my professional skills, not only improving my technical abilities but also deepening my understanding of the professional qualities required in interior design. It has laid a solid foundation for my future career in the field.
