Student Leaders coming from the University of Saint Anthony Junior and Senior Highschool department have graduated as official International Human Rights Youth Ambassadors last August 21, 2021. A Virtual Certification Ceremony was conducted and spearheaded by Ms. Angela Morales, Human Rights Facilitator, where student leaders played a video presentation of them sharing different realizations and learnings derived from completing the Human Dignity Course, a Community Development Network (CDN) training and outreach program. According to Attorney David Moore in

his featured talk about human rights, “As Human Rights ambassadors, we have the opportunity to educate others. We have the opportunity to spread understanding through educating.” Present also in the meeting were Tiffany Ivins Spence, Founder of CDN, and Emily Bradshaw, International Program Director, who each expressed their gratitude and congratulations to the ambassadors for making it as the second class to complete the Human Dignity Course. CHED Region V recognizes USANT for its Best Practices on Flexible Learning By: Jheanne Ehrico B. Adan

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office V recognized the University of Saint Anthony (USANT) for its Best Practices on Flexible Learning during the 27th CHED Foundation Anniversary and National Higher Education Week with the theme “PADYAK: Moving Forward, Claiming Victory for Philippine Higher Education, Pamantasan Pandayan Tungo sa Kaunlaran” held in May 2021. In pursuant to CHED Memorandum Or-

der No. 4 series of 2020 on the Guidelines on the Implementation of Flexible Learning, a Plaque and Certificate of Appreciation was received by Atty. Santiago D. Ortega, Jr., President and Chairman of USANT, together with Dr. Jose B. Ballesteros, Vice President for Academic Affairs last August 4, 2021. The awards were given by Dr. Freddie T. Bernal CESO III, Director of CHED Regional Office V. USANT has shared its Best Practices and Activities on Flexible

Learning along with the university’s strategies to cope with the New Normal Education through a live video presentation, during the CHED Foundation Anniversary. Moreover, the celebration commemorates significant milestones for the commission including groundbreaking undertakings and recognize different learning institutions who pursued quality education amidst the challenging circumstances brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the Buwan ng Wika celebration, the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of Iriga City held a division-wide contest in which Irigueños actively participated. The winners of numerous contests were awarded last September 2, 2021, in the closing program held on DepEd-Iriga’s official Facebook page. The competitions participated by various schools in the Iriga were namely: Aba, Nakababasa na ako! Masining na Pagkukuwento, Patimpalak sa Pag Tula, Infomercial para sa Radio-Based Instructions, Tiktok-Galing, and Leksiyon ko Dunong mo Elementarya. The University of Saint Anthony Junior High School students secured the second place in the Informercial for Radio-Base Instructions Contest comprising Ella Ivy M. Barra, Lorian Kate B. Ibias, and Althea Ann R. De Lo Virges accompanied by Mr. Jenri P. Azuela and Ms. Maria Krishna M. Jove, as their coaches, with the assistance of Gian Nicole Ignao, Erica Mae Naron and Liz Rheann Malapo. The first place was awarded to San Antonio National High School while Santiago Integrated School placed third. For the overall results affiliated with different events, Lads and Lassies Learning Center obtained the third runner-up, North District for second runner-up, South District obtained 1st runner up and Central District was declared overall champion in the Elementary Division. Moreover, the University of Saint Anthony was awarded fourth runner-up, followed by Rinconada National Technical Vocational School Main Campus as third runner-up, San Antonio National High School for second runner-up, while Santiago Integrated High School seized the first runner up and Zeferino Arroyo High School was announced champion in the Secondary Division. Due to the initiative of DepEd Iriga led by School Division Superintendent Dr. Danilo E. Despi and with the effort of Dr. Rechie Salcedo, EPS 1 Filipino, the division-wide competition was launched smoothly and successfully.
