OnAugust26,YWCAhostedaneventto discussAmandaNguyen’smemoir, Saving Five.PanelistsfromYWCA,Vietnamese RoundTable,SanJosePublicLibrary,and SantaClaraCountyexploredthemesof survival,justice,identity,andthefightto reclaimagencyaftertrauma.Seephotos ofthegatheringhere.

IfirstlearnedaboutYWCAwhenChrisDiSalvo, alongtimesupporterandpastpresidentofthe Board,invitedmetoattendtheInspire Luncheon.Iwasinmy20sandthatexperience wasmyfirstintroductiontotheorganization andtheworktheydoinourcommunity.
Whatinspiredyoutogiveyourfirstgift?
AtthetimeIdidn’trealizethatattendingthat firstluncheonwasasignificantmomentfor me.Irememberthinkingthatthecontribution requestwasalotofmoneyformeatthetime, butIwasinspiredbythestoriesandthe servicesofYWCA.IfeltlikeIwaspartof meaningfulchange.Thatgiftsparkedthe beginningofmyphilanthropicjourneyand I’mproudthatYWCAwasthefirstnonprofitI chosetosupport.

Iwishmorepeopleknewhowbroadanddeep YWCA’sservicesreallyare.Theyprovide healing,resources,andeducationneededto rebuildlivesandbreakgenerationalcycles.
