Philanthropy and More Strong Kids, YChampions & Unrestricted Funds Did you know that the YMCA has two major annual campaigns that raise funds to help offer financial assistance to access various programs at the Y? Our purpose is to help individuals grow in spirit, mind, and body through a supportive network, and we work hard to make sure that money is not a barrier for anyone to join us. Research shows that your financial situation, type of work, education, and neighbourhood all significantly impact your health – usually adding more stress. Everyone deserves the chance to lead a healthy life; your bank account should not be a barrier. Your gifts are helping to decrease the risk of chronic disease, overcome social isolation, lower stress levels, help parents spend time with their family, and more. Through individual charitable donations, gifts from companies and foundations, our YMCA is able to offer financial assistance so that anyone in the community can participate in YMCA programs. Thank you to our generous supporters, partners, and volunteers who make this possible every day.

Philanthropy and More By supporting the YMCA,strong kids fund You are ensuring children and families have access to programs such a swimming lessons, camps, before and after school programs, court sports, martial arts, mental health services, and leadership programs. Annually they need to raise funds increases, and we have seen our request for assistance double in the last five years. We work hard to never turn away a child or family who wants to be involved, but just needs assistance to cover a portion of the fees. For the 2023-2024 year we will need to raise $275,000 to make sure everyone has an equal opportunity to take part in these programs.

The Y champions fund is designed for people, 18 and older may be down on their luck, in between jobs, supporting other family members, a senior on a Fixed income or anyone just in need of short term assistance. By designating your gift to this fund, you can ensure people have access to a full YMCA membership, including fitness classes at swimming lessons, martial arts in court sports and helping to develop a sense of community. We also partner with other community groups who benefits from taking parts in Ymca programs and services. Your support to this fund may help a new canadian we want to ensure has the benefits of belonging to the YMCA. This year our target is $60,000 to ensure that everyone who needs assistance will receive it.

Donating Unrestricted Gifts If you are unsure as to which category of gift you want to make consider making an unrestricted gift. When designated as unrestricted, your donation provides flexibility for us to use the gift where the needs are greatest.

This can mean when unforeseen circumstances require us to provide new services or new targeted programs that allow us to help people quickly.
