WYDOT employees battled winter storm in March

Nebraska DOT provided help in southeast portion of the state
Historic weather event puts maintainers to the test By Aimee Inama It was all hands on deck during the historic two-day snowstorm that started March 13. Relentless, driving snow, massive snowdrifts that stretched for miles and blowing snow created conditions unseen for years in the southern and southeastern part of Wyoming. Employees in Maintenance, Highway Patrol, the Transportation Management Center, along with crews from other districts and other WYDOT employees
worked around the clock to clear the roads, assist motorists or provide support for those on the front lines. But a broken motor grader being used between Pine Bluffs and Cheyenne could have derailed WYDOT’s efforts in the southeastern part of the state if it weren’t for the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Crews from all around the state sent needed personnel and equipment to help with snow removal efforts in southeast Wyoming. They came together to ensure we met our mission.
