MICHEALS’ MEMOIRS July 2019 Update
Dear Friends and Family, Over the 19 years since we returned from Papua New Guinea (PNG), we have been involved in various aspects of recruitment work with Wycliffe. For Chuck, that has meant varying degrees of leadership and recruitment efforts. For Barb, that has meant mainly working with college students (in the past) wanting to go on short term mission trips with Wycliffe (which Wycliffe no longer does) or on internships with Wycliffe (which Barb’s work involves now). Chuck’s recruitment work in the past has been less busy in the summer and Barb’s has been busier since most of the trips were in the summer. Now with Chuck’s added responsibilities and Barb’s internships happening year round, we are both busier throughout the year. Please pray for wisdom as we try and balance, work, home and church life and spend time with adult children and grandchildren.

New Teacher Recruitment Work The need of teachers for our missionary children has always been there and so teacher recruitment has always been going on. However, in the past few years the number of teachers we have recruited has gone down significantly while the need has remained high. The reasons for this decline in teachers serving with Wycliffe are many, but when our last teacher recruiters needed to step off our recruitment team, the need to fill that gap became evident. Chuck was asked to help fill that gap and so now he has added teacher recruitment to his management, professional and trades recruitment efforts.

The picture above shows the ways teachers can serve with us in many non-traditional roles. Click on the photo to see a short video explaining those roles. Several years ago Chuck took an interest in teacher recruitment, although it was not officially part of his responsibilities. He wanted to know more about recruiting teachers since the ways people can teach is varied and challenging. Now, what he learned then is paying dividends! You are probably familiar with schools set up around the world for Missionary Kids (MKs) like the one our children went to in Papua New Guinea - PNG (Ukarumpa International School UIS).
