EDITORIAL
The Italian F4 Championship certified by FIA enters the crucial phase of the 2022 season. The ninth edition of the championship will close with the two rounds in Monza and Mugello but anything can still happen because the race for the titles is open more than ever. Nothing new for ACI Sport and WSK Promotion because this is a situation that continues repeating itself, demonstrating the extreme balance of forces achieved over the years, thanks to the many drivers and teams who always make the races breath-taking. Not surprisingly, the last Austrian trip to the Red Bull Ring recorded the presence of 40 single-seaters on the track: a record number that led us to implement a dedicated race weekend format, capable of allowing everyone to be involved on the track and to be able to compete at the same level and conditions. We are proud of this great consensus and of being able to close in style with two historic locations such as the Monza racetrack, which celebrates 100 years of activity in 2022, and the Mugello Circuit, in the fascinating natural setting of the Tuscany region. We just have to wait a few weeks to elect the new champions and engrave their names forever in the Roll of Honour. It just has to be said: may the best win!

Alexander Dunne (US Racing) is back to winning ways in the Italian F4 Championship certified by FIA, on the occasion of Race 1 reserved for groups B and C. At the beginning, Rafael Camara (Prema Racing), who started from pole position, led the platoon of drivers, but the safety car immediately intervened due to an accident at the rear. After the resumption of the race, Taylor Barnard (PHM Racing) overtook Camara, but on the next lap the two made contact: the British driver punctured a right rear tyre and the Brazilian lost his front wing. Dunne took the opportunity to jump into the lead and defended himself very well from the attacks of James Wharton (Prema Racing). The Irishman won the race, while Wharton and Ugo Ugochukwu (Prema Racing) finished in a sprint under the chequered flag, with the Australian second and the American third. Nikita Bedrin (PHM Racing) finished fourth, receiving a 10 second penalty for causing a collision and relegated to seventh place. Nikhil Bohra (US Racing), Brando Badoer (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Martinius Stenshorne (Van Amersfoort Racing) finished ahead of Bedrin.

Nikhil Bohra (US Racing), Brando Badoer (Van Amersfoort Racing) e Martinius Stenshorne (Van Amersfoort Racing) sono promossi davanti a Bedrin.

One year after his debut in the Italian F4 Championship certified by FIA, Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Prema Racing) won for the ninth time in the category. Race 2, involving groups A and B, sprinted behind the safety car due to the completely wet track. Antonelli, author of the absolute best time considering the two timed practice sessions, stayed in the lead once the lights went green and escaped his rivals, led by Rafael Camara (Prema Racing). The Italian driver reached the finish alone with more than 5 seconds of advantage over Camara and Alexander Dunne (US Racing): the two were engaged in a heated duel for second place, but it was the Brazilian who beat the Irishman. Fourth place for Kacper Sztuka (US Racing), ahead of Charlie Wurz (Prema Racing), who came fifth, James Wharton (Prema Racing), who came sixth, and Maya Weug (Iron Dames), who came seventh.

Quarto posto per Kacper Sztuka (US Racing), davanti a Charlie Wurz (Prema Racing), quinto, James Wharton (Prema Racing), sesto, e Maya Weug (Iron Dames), settima.

Once again on the top step of the podium, Kacper Sztuka (US Racing) in the Italian F4 Championship certified by FIA. In the third race, the one reserved for groups A and C, Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Prema Racing) dashed out perfectly when the traffic lights went out and tried to get a distance from his pursuers, but the race was interrupted by the intervention of the safety car due to an accident. At the restart, Taylor Barnard (PHM Racing) immediately tried to attack Antonelli and touched his left rear tyre: the Briton damaged his front wing, while the Italian slowed down due to a puncture. Sztuka took the opportunity to leap into the lead and, keeping Ugo Ugochukwu (Prema Racing) and Conrad Laursen (Prema Racing) behind him, flew straight to victory. Ugochukwu took the place of honour, while Laursen achieved the lowest step of the podium. Martinius Stenshorne (Van Amersfoort Racing), who came fourth, and Nikita Bedrin (PHM Racing), who came fifth, completed the Top 5.

US Racing) nell’Italian F4 Championship certified by FIA.

A CROWDED PADDOCK
A record number of participants in the Red Bull Ring for the third from last leg of the Italian F4 Championship certified by FIA. As many as 40 drivers competed for access to the final race, giving the warm Austrian audience a breath-taking spectacle.

The Austrian weekend of the Italian F4 Championship certified by FIA ended in the best possible way for Alexander Dunne (US Racing)
After the three “preliminary” races, the Irish driver is first in the combined rankings and in fact achieved pole position for the final. The start saw Dunne defend himself against Kacper Sztuka (US Racing), who also started from the front row, but the Pole stayed behind his teammate.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Prema Racing) battled with Ugo Ugochukwu (Prema Racing) and James Wharton (Prema Racing) for third place. Subsequently, the Italian successfully overtook Sztuka, then tried to catch up with race leader Dunne. The Irishman was not surprised and won, with Antonelli second at the finish line. Third place for the rookie Ugochukwu, who finished ahead of Wharton, who came fourth, and Sztuka, who slipped to fifth position.

Despite a “zero” on the Austrian scoresheet, Antonelli remains firmly in command of the general rankings with 262 points, +61 from Camara, second, and +65 from Dunne, third.

Even among the rookies, Antonelli stayed in first position with a haul of 278 points. Camara follows the Italian with 233 points, while Wharton is third with 206 points.
LADIES
Maya Weug continues her ride in the rankings reserved for the “ladies” of the championship and climbed to 375 points. Newcomer Victoria Blokhina is second with 277 points.
TEAM
Prema Racing has a total of exactly 600 points in the team rankings, almost 200 more than US Racing, in second position. PHM Racing remains stable in third place.

The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is the third oldest permanent facility in the world, preceded only by Brooklands (now disused and partially demolished) and Indianapolis. Opened in 1922 (exactly 100 years ago), it is the historic site of the Italian Grand Prix (87 editions hosted out of 92) and one of the tracks with the most appearances in the Formula 1 calendar. Precisely because of its history and configuration, it was baptized as the “Temple of Speed” and the top F1 speed records have been recorded here. On the occasion of the 2020 Italian Grand Prix qualifiers, Lewis Hamilton set the best lap time (unofficial) at 1:18.887, with an average of 264.362 km/h.

A CHAMPIONSHIP IN CONTINUOUS GROWTH
The fifth round of the Italian F4 Championship certified by FIA 2022 will be remembered for a long time in the coming years. A total of 40 drivers turned up at the Red Bull Ring, in Austria, a never before reached record of registrations (excluding the opening round of the 2016 season, when 41 competitors took to the track at the time in Misano Adriatico). This is a more than positive sign for the state of form of the Italian championship which, thanks to the close collaboration between ACI Sport and WSK Promotion, has become, in just a few years, one of the main preparatory classes at international level. In fact, on the Austrian circuit, five drivers involved in karting until last year made their debut: Ugo Ugochukwu (Prema Racing), already on the podium in the final race on Sunday afternoon, Zachary David (US Racing), Nicola Lacorte (Iron Lynx), Arvid Lindblad (Van Amersfoort Racing), and Francisco Soldavini (Maffi Racing). With a limited starting grid capacity, the weekend format has changed accordingly, with two qualifying groups and three races valid to qualify the participants for the fourth and final race.
