After the energetic welcome received last year on the occasion of the first edition, it is time for the Super Cup by MINI to return to the scene, once again in the symbolic and welcoming venue of the La Conca International Circuit. You know well how much this class has carved out a privileged place for itself in the heart of WSK Promotion: first of all, because for over ten years it has enlivened our paddock during all the weekends of the year, but, above all, because it is the real scene capable of generate new talent that can climb the highest peaks of karting and motorsport in general. In fact, there are many professional drivers who started out here, learning step by step all the secrets to emerge in the great world of four wheels. And the Super Cup by MINI represents the top event on the international calendar for MINI which this year doubles with two “divisions”: MINI Gr.3 and MINI Gr.3 U10. A solution that we have learned to appreciate starting from the Champions Cup, capable of giving greater prominence to all the drivers. So keep an eye on them because, although they are “little” from an age point of view, they are capable of doing great things on the track!

Dopo l’energica accoglienza ricevuta lo scorso anno in occasione della prima edizione, è tempo per la Super Cup by MINI di tornare in scena, sempre nell’iconico e accogliente impianto dell’International Circuit La Conca. Sapete bene quanto questa categoria si sia ritagliata un posto privilegiato nel cuore di WSK Promotion: innanzitutto, perché da oltre dieci anni ravviva il nostro paddock durante tutti i weekend dell’anno, ma, soprattutto, perché rappresenta il vero e proprio polmone in grado di generare nuovi talenti in grado di scalare poi le vette più alte del karting e del motorsport in generale. Tanti, infatti, sono i piloti professionisti che hanno iniziato da qui, imparando passo dopo passo tutti i segreti per emergere nel grande mondo delle quattro ruote. E la Super Cup by MINI rappresenta l’appuntamento di vertice del calendario internazionale per la MINI che quest’anno raddoppia con le due “divisioni”: MINI Gr.3 e MINI Gr.3 U10. Una soluzione che abbiamo imparato ad apprezzare già a partire dalla Champions Cup, capace di dare maggior risalto a tutti i piloti. “MAXI” CHALLENGE FOR THE MINI CLASSES

The consensus for the very first edition of the WSK Super Cup by MINI, the event par excellence reserved for the younger class, was great thanks to the presence of numerous drivers from all over the world. The first to write his name in the Hall of Fame was Iacopo Martinese, who dominated the final of the La Conca weekend, accompanied on the podium by Dean Hoogendoorn, Christian Costoya, Augustus Toniolo and Filippo Sala. For 2023, the competition is “split in two”, with the newly established MINI U10 Gr.3 class (already introduced at the start of the season on the occasion of the Champions Cup) alongside the confirmed MINI Gr.3. In addition, with the validity of the Trofeo Nazionale ACI MINI Gr.3 title conferred by the Italian ACI Sport Federation, the event gains further prestige. So who will have the honour of lifting the winner’s cup this year?

Il consenso per la prima edizione assoluta della WSK Super Cup by MINI, l’appuntamento per eccellenza riservato alla categoria dei più piccoli, è stato fantastico grazie alla presenza dei numerosi piloti provenienti da tutto il mondo. Il primo a scrivere il proprio nome nell’Albo d’Oro è stato Iacopo Martinese, dominatore della finale del weekend di La Conca, accompagnato sul podio da Dean Hoogendoorn, Christian Costoya, Augustus Toniolo e Filippo Sala. Per il 2023, la competizione si “sdoppia”, con la neonata classe MINI U10 Gr.3 (già introdotta al via della stagione in occasione della Champions Cup) al fianco della confermata MINI Gr.3. In più, con la validità per il titolo Trofeo Nazionale ACI MINI Gr.3 conferito dalla Federazione Italiana ACI Sport, la manifestazione guadagna ulteriore prestigio. Since its establishment in 1999, the International Circuit La Conca has been the “home” of WSK Promotion. This circuit, located on the extreme tip of the Puglia region, made its debut in the great international karting by WSK on 5 February 2006, on the occasion of the International Series, and soon became a real point of reference for insiders and fans. From 2011 to 2022 (excluding 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic) it has always hosted the prestigious Super Master Series, with the honour of opening the championship for three consecutive editions (2011, 2012 and 2013), as well as being designated as the final stage of the 2014 edition. Its 1,250 metres of high-grip asphalt offer a challenging testing ground for drivers and technicians; moreover, they ensure a unique show for the public.

Fin dalla sua nascita nel 1999, l’International Circuit La Conca è la “casa” di WSK Promotion. Il circuito, situato nell’estrema punta della regione Puglia, ha fatto il suo debutto nel grande karting internazionale firmato WSK il 5 febbraio 2006, in occasione dell’International Series, ed è presto diventato un vero e proprio punto di riferimento per addetti ai lavori e appassionati. Dal 2011 al 2022 (escluso il 2020 a causa della pandemia di COVID-19) ha sempre ospitato la prestigiosa Super Master Series, con l’onore di aprire il campionato per tre edizioni consecutive (2011, 2012 e 2013), oltre a essere designato come tappa finale dell’edizione 2014. New year, same… Champion! Iskender Zulfikari (Parolin/Iame) appeared on the starting grid of the Champions Cup (hosted at the South Garda Karting circuit) as favourite, based on the two titles won at the end of 2022 in the Open Cup and in the Final Cup. However, the weekend of the Turkish driver started uphill with a 25th place in the qualifying practice, although in the subsequent qualifying heats he achieved a series of three victories and reached the top of the intermediate rankings. Zulfikari’s 11th place in prefinal A gave a faint ray of hope to his opponents, but the Babyrace Driver Academy driver put everyone in their place in the decisive final: after losing a few positions at the start, he quickly regained the lead of the race and passed first under the chequered flag.

Nuovo anno, stesso… Campione! Iskender Zulfikari (Parolin/Iame) si presenta sullo schieramento di partenza della Champions Cup (ospitata al circuito South Garda Karting) con il favore dei pronostici, forte dei due titoli conquistati al termine del 2022 nell’Open Cup e nella Final Cup. Tuttavia, il weekend del turco inizia in salita con un 25° posto in qualifica, ma nelle successive qualifying heat infila una serie di tre vittorie e raggiunge la cima della classifica intermedia. L’11° posto nella prefinale A da parte di Zulfikari accende una flebile luce di speranza nei suoi avversari, ma il pilota Babyrace Driver Academy mette tutti in riga nella decisiva finale: dopo aver perso alcune posizioni al via, recupera velocemente la testa della corsa e transita per primo sotto la bandiera a scacchi.

Zulfikari was also insatiable in the Super Master Series. Already in the first stage of Lonato del Garda, the new champion of the Champions Cup dominated the scene with a double victory in the prefinal and in the final. In the Franciacorta round, however, he suffered a setback due to a withdrawal in the last race of the weekend, after having been constantly at the top of the rankings. In Sarno, he returned to the podium thanks to a brilliant second place; instead, in Cremona, the scene of the last round of the championship, he finished first in the prefinal B and second in the final: just enough to be crowned winner.

Zulfikari è insaziabile anche nella Super Master Series. Già nella prima tappa di Lonato del Garda, il neo campione della Champions Cup domina la scena con una doppia vittoria in prefinale e in finale. Nel round di Franciacorta, invece, subisce una battuta d’arresto a causa di un ritiro nell’ultima gara del weekend, dopo essere stato costantemente ai piani alti della classifica. A Sarno, invece, torna a mettere piede sul podio grazie a un brillante secondo posto mentre a Cremona, teatro dell’ultimo appuntamento di campionato, chiude primo nella prefinale B e secondo nella finale: quanto basta per essere incoronato vincitore.

A triumphant start to the season for Oleksandr Legenkyi (KR/Iame) in the WSK championships, in the newly established MINI Under 10 class. In the Champions Cup, the Ukrainian immediately got to grips with the Lonato del Garda track with a seventh place in the qualifying practice and in the subsequent qualifying heats he won three times in three races. Also the prefinal A on Saturday evening saw, once again, the supremacy of Legenkyi, able to secure pole position for the final; however, in the last race of the weekend, he encountered strong opposition from his rivals, but with a great overtaking on the last lap he achieved victory and won the title.

The following week, again at the South Garda Karting circuit for the opening round of the Super Master Series, Legenkyi was among the main candidates for victory. Indeed, the Team Driver Racing Kart driver did not disappoint the expectations and won the prefinal on Sunday morning but finished second in the subsequent final. In the central phase of the championship, Legenkyi stayed in contact with the top of the rankings (seventh place both in Franciacorta and in Sarno) and re-emerged on the occasion of the final stage in Cremona: first he finished second in prefinal A, after which he beat the competition in the final and won the championship.

Un inizio di stagione trionfale per Oleksandr Legenkyi (KR/Iame) nei campionati WSK, nella neonata categoria riservata agli Under 10 della MINI. Alla Champions Cup, l’ucraino prende subito confidenza con la pista di Lonato del Garda con un settimo posto in qualifica e nelle successive qualifying heat conquista un bottino di tre successi su tre gare. Anche la prefinale A di sabato sera vede, ancora una volta, la supremazia di Legenkyi, in grado di assicurarsi la pole position per la finale; tuttavia, nell’ultima corsa del weekend, trova una forte opposizione da parte dei propri rivali, ma con un gran sorpasso all’ultimo giro centra vittoria e titolo.

La settimana dopo, sempre al circuito South Garda Karting per il round d’apertura della Super Master Series, Legenkyi è tra i principali candidati alla vittoria. Effettivamente, il portacolori Team Driver Racing Kart non delude le aspettative e vince la prefinale di domenica mattina, però termina secondo la successiva finale. Nella fase centrale di campionato, Legenkyi rimane a contatto con il vertice della classifica (settimo posto sia a Franciacorta sia a Sarno) e riemerge in occasione della tappa conclusiva di Cremona: prima chiude secondo la prefinale A, dopodiché batte la concorrenza nella finale e si aggiudica il campionato.
