Bank of America sponsors an AquaTower in Manila Baseco is a poor urban community that lacks a potable water supply, health and sanitation services. It is also flood-prone during typhoon season because of its proximity to the Manila Bay. This negatively affects the water quality, which makes waterborne illnesses a major issue among the people. World Vision, together with Bank of America and Planet Water Foundation, sponsors the construction of an AquaTower at Corazon C. Aquino Senior High School in BASECO, Manila during #GlobalHandwashingDay last October. The system produces 1,000 liters of drinking water per hour – capable of supporting the daily drinking water requirements of up to 1,800 individuals and also includes a handwashing station with built-in soap dispensers making handwashing accessible to the students. “The water crisis has been a problem in our community for a long time. I studied here when I was in middle school and now I am a teacher here, but the issue is still the same. I am glad that we finally have clean water for drinking and handwashing.” Jun Flores, Grade 11 Teacher.
