Metrobank Foundation partners with World Vision for WASH in Schools Project

Metrobank Foundation supported the construction of five 10-faucet handwashing facilities in five public elementary schools in the provinces of Bohol, Misamis Occidental, Zamboanga del Norte, and North Cotabato.

Proper handwashing is a crucial way to prevent the spread of diseases, including COVID-19, and yet for many people, access to running water and soap is limited or non-existent.

Constructing and supporting handwashing facilities can have a significant impact on vulnerable communities’ overall health. It helps prevent the spread of infectious diseases, reduces the incidence of waterborne illnesses, and improves sanitation and hygiene practices. Furthermore, it promotes behavioral change towards good health practices and can enhance livelihoods and increase productivity.

The partnership will go a long way in improving the health and wellbeing of all members of our communities.

The ceremony was led by TELUS Vice President for Global Culture and Facilities Warren Tait, TELUS CSR Senior Manager for APAC Phoebe Carrera, and members of the company’s corporate social responsibility team. World Vision Development Foundation Resource Development Director Jun Godornes, Technical

More than 7,300 team members and donors from TELUS International Philippines made the donation possible by raising over PHP 2M through the sale of Share to Care Shirts. The donation will be used to support the implementation of the Abutin Na10 initiative in Lanao del Norte and other World Vision Area Programs in the Philippines.

Over the years, TELUS has unwaveringly supported World Vision’s goal to provide quality education to the most vulnerable children in the country. The company has donated PHP 1M to support the Abutin Na10 in Cebu in 2021, and PHP 1.3M to support the same program in Bohol in 2022. TELUS has also contributed to World Vision’s Brigada Pagbasa initiatives in the past two years.

Abutin Na10 is a fundraising campaign led by World Vision, and the Department of Education. The campaign aims to ensure continuity of learning among public school students through the provision of education materials like modules, gadgets, and instructional packets.
