Harvees and World Vision plant seeds of change

World Vision was chosen as one of the beneficiaries of Harvees, a web and mobile application that allows players to grow a virtual farm while donating to different causes and earning incentives at the same time. Developed by Kildekode, Inc., Harvees, which derives its name from the word “harvest,” promotes the “Onion Effect” framework, a system where in-game player choices benefit and empower advocacy-driven organizations. In an episode of Enchong Dee’s Youtube Budgetarian series, Wacky Moreno, President of Kildekode, Inc., explains the idea behind the game. “We believe na para ma-solve natin ang mga pinka-malalaking problema ng mundo, we need everyone to help. Kung ganito ang vision natin, ano ang pinaka-magandang platform?” “Harvees ay isang advocacy and crowdsourcing game,” Moreno says. “It allows you to play sa pamamagitan ng isang farming-themed game na bagay sa mga aspiring virtual plantitos and plantitas. It also allows you to help various advocacies, such as World Vision, dahil ang ating in-game spending ay napupunta sa advocacies that we support.” “It resonates with our audience - the cause-inspired millennials. They want to give, they want to help, but at the same time, they want to be part of something bigger than themselves, and they want to have fun while they’re at it,” Jun Godornes, Resource Development Director of World Vision in the Philippines shares. In addition to being aligned with World Vision’s work for children, Harvees can also introduce the organization to more people. Alside from World Vision, players of Harvees may also donate to Save Philippine Seas, Gawad Kalinga, Young Focus, and Roots of Health.

TELUS supports World Vision by making every step count On June 23, 2021, TELUS International Philippines officially turned over more than one million pesos worth of donation to World Vision and the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Abutin Na10 Campaign. The donation is raised through the TELUS Days of Giving Virtual Run, a corporate event that ran from May 1 to May 31. More than 2,300 TELUS International Philippines team members volunteered to join the fundraiser and completed a combined distance of 35,000 km. The donation will be used to distribute kinder modules in World Vision’s area programmes in North Cebu and Haven of Rest II. “Thank you, TELUS officers, employees, and all virtual runners for partnering with World Vision in helping children’s education especially during this time through the Abutin Na10 campaign,” World Vision Development Foundation National Director Rommel V. Fuerte said. “You are making a big difference. Together, we bring hope, joy, and justice for all children.” “Abutin Na10” is a fundraising campaign led by World Vision and DepEd. It aims to support the education agency’s learning continuity plan through the production and distribution of learning packets and activity sheets.
