NOCHE BUENA CAMPAIGN A Christmas Like No Other

More than 24,000 children in the Philippines celebrated Noche Buena with World Vision Last year’s Christmas was truly a Christmas like no other – social gatherings remained limited as a precaution to the pandemic and resources continued to be scarce, especially to the most vulnerable. Nevertheless, thanks to the kindness and generosity of donors and child sponsors, more than 24,000 children supported by World Vision in the Philippines celebrated Christmas with hearty Noche Buena meals and joyful hearts. Since 2005, World Vision has distributed more than 400,000 Noche Buena packs to Filipino families all over the country through its annual Noche Bunea campaign. “The celebration of Christmas will always be meaningful because it is about the birth of Jesus that brought hope for all humanity,” said World Vision National Director Rommel V. Fuerte. “As you give the gift of Noche Buena, may you and your families feel the peace, joy and hope this Christmas season brings.” Thanks to our corporate donors!

World Vision hosts “Volunteerism in the Corporate World” webinar In December 2020, World Vision joins the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) in celebrating National Volunteer Month by mounting “Volunteerism in the Corporate World,” an online webinar that highlights the benefits of volunteerism to nurturing an engaging corporate culture. “Partnership is a core value in World Vision and volunteerism is a key component in achieving greater impact for the most vulnerable children, families and communities. Volunteers contribute to the success and sustainability of our programs,” says Rommel V. Fuerte, National Director of World Vision in the Philippines. Joining the event as speakers and sharing the best practices of their companies in implementing and encouraging employee engagement through volunteerism are Michele Pamatmat of Atlassian, Nellie Dagdag of DTCC, Cristan Yang of Medtronic Philippines, Inc., and Jeli Encomienda of Nexus Technologies, Inc. “Every company should prioritize improving employee engagement because it cultivates a motivating culture for employees to give their best at work,” explains World Vision Resource Development Direct Jun Godornes. “It contributes to organizational success and enhances their own sense of fulfillment.” Meanwhile, Usec. Jonathan E. Malaya, DILG Undersecretary for Plans, Public Affairs and Communications, emphasizes the importance of volunteerism in the government’s ongoing COVID-19 emergency response, attributing Filipinos’ contributions to their innate sense of bayanihan. “Allow me to extend my sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the corporate organization and volunteer groups who have devoted their time and resources towards rebuilding our nation,” Usec. Malaya says, thanking both the private and public sectors for working together to rise against the pandemic. To close the event, World Vision Ambassador Jasmine Curtis-Smith, who has been actively joining and supporting the organization’s relief distributions and Back-to-School programs throughout the years, invites more companies and employees to volunteer. “I would love to encourage everyone to really take part in volunteering in any way that you can kasi volunteerism is an important part in nation building. I would like to thank all of you and salute all our volunteers as we celebrate National Volunteers Month this December. Thank you for sharing your time, talent and yourself to those who really need it.”
