sustainability action plan

why it matters

These actions reflect our belief that sustainability is both a responsibility and an opportunity for innovation and community engagement.

our vision

At Elements, we enrich lives through sustainable placemaking—creating spaces that foster connections, minimize environmental impact, and elevate communities. Across our diverse studios, we unite around a shared purpose: to transform interior environments through ethical sourcing, thoughtful design, and responsible innovation.

By minimizing waste, reducing our carbon footprint, and optimizing energy use, we lead by example—helping our clients meet their sustainability goals while creating spaces that are not only beautiful and durable, but environmentally responsible. Together with our people, partners, and clients, we strive to build a greener future, where every space contributes positively to the planet and future generations.

5 areas of focus

Our sustainability goals are organized around clear areas of focus that guide our strategy, investments, and daily operations.

These priorities reflect actions already underway, as well as forward-looking commitments that will continue to evolve alongside our business, our partners, and the needs of the planet.

culture + education

Our people are the heart of our impact. We’re committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, belonging, and continuous learning—where everyone feels seen, heard, and empowered.

Through wellness programs and community partnerships, we’re creating a workplace where people thrive and make a difference.

We invest in education and hands-on experiences to build lasting sustainability awareness—offering team trainings, volunteer days, and learning opportunities. We also bring in outside partners to share new ideas and strengthen our collective impact.

Internal Focus

Our internal education programs are core to how we embed sustainability into everyday practice. Annual learning sessions explore topics like carbon footprints, circular design, and climate action. Looking ahead, we’re planning guest speakers focused on recycling and composting to further empower both employees and community members.

ONE

Promoting a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, through employee-led efforts that educate, connect, and celebrate.

community outreach

Elements and our studios stay actively engaged with a wide range of organizations and causes throughout the Denver Metro Area. From environmental restoration to social advocacy and community care, we show up where it matters.

energy + emissions

We are actively reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions across our offices, warehouses, and transportation systems.

• Upgrades to LED lighting and energy-efficient appliances are planned across our facilities

• Shared delivery logistics between studios are reducing miles traveled and fuel used

• We support hybrid work schedules and alternative commuting methods to limit emissions from employee travel

• We are exploring electric vehicle integration, both for our delivery fleet and for employee use

Internal Focus

We’re aligning daily operations with longterm climate goals—making energy use and emissions part of the conversation in how we work, how we move, and how we show up for our clients.

waste reduction

Minimizing waste is a key focus across our operations—from packaging and products to workplace behaviors.

• We maintain robust recycling programs at all locations

• Our studios reuse or repurpose packaging and materials wherever possible

• Our furniture studio leads donation and refurbishment programs that extend the life of furnishings and reduce landfill impact

• Long-term plans include expanding composting and sustainable decommissioning strategies

Internal Focus

Our ONE group brings sustainability to life with hands-on events—like electronics recycling drives with certified partners and clothing swaps that give gently used items a second life. Anything left behind is donated to local organizations.

sustainable procurement

We prioritize manufacturers and materials that meet high environmental standards.

• We evaluate suppliers based on environmental certifications, recycled content, and low-emission materials

• Material Bank supports our product sampling process with consolidated shipping and return options

• We’re aligning more closely with our manufacturers to track product lifecycles and reduce embodied carbon

Internal Focus

Sustainable choices begin with informed decision-making. Our teams attend internal learning sessions on topics like circular design and sustainable material selection.

We also engage with guest speakers and manufacturer partners to deepen our understanding and inspire responsible procurement across teams.

measurement + accountability

We are laying the foundation for tracking, reporting, and improving our performance over time.

• Internal reporting ensures our teams are informed and aligned with our goals

• Progress will be shared with clients, partners, and employees

• We are developing metrics that reflect meaningful outcomes and support continuous improvement

Internal Focus

Accountability starts from within. We’re building a culture where teams are informed, aligned, and empowered to contribute to our goals. Internal reporting keeps sustainability top of mind across studios, while employee feedback helps shape meaningful metrics. As we grow our data capabilities, we’re working to make progress visible, actionable, and shared at every level of the organization.

looking ahead

preparing for the future

This Sustainability Action Plan is more than a statement of intent—it is the foundation for future reporting and accountability.

We’re tracking progress across our initiatives and aligning with industry benchmarks. These efforts will culminate into our Sustainability Impact Report. With representation from executive leadership, furniture, flooring, construction, experiential design, and marketing, the team combines deep industry knowledge with a shared passion for driving meaningful change. Several members also contribute to broader industry initiatives—such as national sustainability councils and manufacturer-led efforts—ensuring our strategy is informed by both internal priorities and external best practices.

Together, this team is responsible for defining our vision, aligning efforts across studios, and building a clear roadmap that positions sustainability as a core driver of innovation, impact, and long-term value.
