WSD is at an exciting time marked with new beginnings

Dear Woodburn School District Community, Spring is a time for new beginnings. It’s a season known for renewal, awakening and growth. For the Woodburn school community, our return from spring break has been an exciting time marked with new beginnings as we’ve entered the season of hybrid instruction. We are ready to take on the hard work, new challenges and with excitement that new beginnings bring. For kinder through 2nd grade, children whose families selected the hybrid model, returned to in-person instruction on April 1st. On Monday of this week, our 3rd-5th graders followed suit. During this first full week of elementary return to in-person instruction, we’ve seen joy as students and staff engage in teaching and learning and building on social connections. At many of our schools, the new beginning has not only been a return to in-person instruction, but a return to new school buildings. Thanks to community support for a bond to build and renovate our schools, our students are increasingly benefiting from learning experiences in safe and exceptional environments that support engagement and build pride in our community! Children at Lincoln, Nellie Muir, and Heritage are delighted in being the first stu-

dents to experience their new beautiful learning environments. Students at Washington had this new experience last year. We’re looking forward to the time when we’re able to welcome our families into the new buildings as well. In the coming weeks, we’ll be welcoming our returning middle and high school students. New and renovated learning spaces also eagerly await to be populated with our amazing and resilient student body presence. Whether in-person or distance learning, our focus and priority remains on engaging, inspiring, and preparing our children to believe in themselves as leaders, learners, and contributors to a just community. Thank you to our community for your support, to our families for your confidence and trust, to our teachers, staff and leaders for your planning, preparing, and
