Infant/Toddler News

We are so excited to begin this school year with your children and it has been so much fun getting to know each one of them. Teacher Milla’s creative approach to motivate learning is in full effect with fun sensory play, messy art, and providing extended conversations with your children. We know that choosing a quality preschool and childcare center is a priority for you and your children so be assured that we hold ourselves to high standards as we are a 5 star center based on the guidelines of QRIS /SPARK (Quality Rating and Improvement System, Western Oregon Research Institute). We look forward to sharing the many milestones, positive experiences, team building, goal setting, and learning with you and your children!

Reminder: Please bring your child’s rain boots with NAME labeled, also please check cubbies for any clothing needing to be washed and check art folders every Friday.

Parents, please don’t forget to turn in your field trip permission slip by September 25th, 2019. Also, if you are planning on going as a chaperone, please see Iliana as soon as possible to fill out a volunteer application.

Hello Parents, Welcome back to the 2019-2020 school year! We hope you had a restful and relaxing summer break.

We are very excited for the new and exciting things happening in the infant toddler room this year. We have a few new faces in the classroom: Jayleen, 7 months, and Isabella, 6 months.

Returning to our classroom are our toddlers: Jason 16 months, Alezay, 23 months and Jocelin, 17 months. We begin the year by building our classroom community, and creating a classroom that is respectful, nurturing, and supportive of each child’s unique individual development.

As we transition into fall weather we encourage parents to bring items such as long sleeves, long pants, light jacket or sweaters for walks outside and play yard time. Please be sure to label coats and personal belongings. As a reminder blankets go home at the end of the week to be laundered and returned the following week.

Teen Parent Seminar begins with activities centered on getting to know each other, building goals and discussing topics of interest for guest speakers and seminar content.

We look forward to another year together!

Meet the Staff Analilia Mendoza- I have been at the CLC since February 2016 as the Preschool Teacher and Director since October 2017. Prior to coming to the CLC, I have been a Pre-K teacher for Oregon Child Development Coalition which was primarily Spanish, a home visitor, Court childcare teacher for a relief nursery and a recreation leader for summer programs. My experience in early childhood began in 2006 as a high school lab student here at the CLC which influenced my decision to pursue an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Education through Chemeketa Community College’s ECE program. I, then transferred to Portland State University and was accepted into the Child and Family Studies program where I completed my Bachelor of Arts in CFS, June 2015. Though my passion in early childhood is implementing an anti-bias curriculum through dual language experiences with a constructivist approach, I have also been motivated to continue to provide an inclusive environment for children who have experienced trauma. I am currently enrolled in the Graduate Certificate program in Infant-Toddler Mental Health through Portland State University. The depth of my learning stems is from my experience working with children and families and I appreciate the opportunity I am given to serve the diverse population in my community.

Iliana Solis- I have been here since August 2015 as the Program Secretary. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art emphasis in Photography and a minor in Video Productions received in 2014 from Southern Oregon University. Before coming to the CLC, I was a teacher assistant at Mayflower Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten. I have also volunteered in a kindergarten classroom throughout my high school and college years. My plan is to return back to school to earn my Master’s Degree in teaching to teach art in a middle school or high school classroom!

Fun facts: 1. Aside from education I have done photoshoots for sport and school clubs, individuals & families and worked for a studio filming & photographing weddings and quinceañeras. 2. I’ve done two solo art exhibitions for my paintings and photography. 3. I was part of a field production team that broadcasted live news to the Ashland community. 4. I once was a Theater Major focusing on directing for 3 years before switching to Art.

Connie Parker- You can call me Connie or Con. I have had the privilege of working at the Creative Learning Center for 18 years!! I am currently on Step 7 on the Oregon Registry. I love coffee, sewing, baking, camping, crafts and spending time with my family. I am the proud mother of four daughters, Charissa, Michelle, Samantha and my fur baby Lilo! The best thing about working with children is seeing their accomplishments, and how proud they are of them no matter what age!

Sara Garza- I joined the CLC in August of 2018, this will be my second year of serving as the Infant/Toddler Teacher. One of the greatest joys of working in Early Childhood Education is watching children learn through play and seeing the delight in their faces when they reach a new milestone. I have over ten years’ experience working with children of all ages, in addition to this experience, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with an Emphasis in Child and Family Studies from Portland State University. I am currently a Step 9 on the Oregon Registry. I am also a parent to three children Abigail, Mariana, and Reies. I enjoy baking, travelling, and spending time with my husband, kids, dogs and our large extended family.

Milla Slivkoff- I have been with Creative Learning Center since February 2014 as the classroom assistant in the preschool room. I hold an Associates in Electronics from Technician College in Armenia received in 1991. I’m working towards an Associates with Chemeketa on Early Childhood Education. I was born and raised in Armenia and moved to USA in 1991 and I have 3 beautiful children. I enjoy traveling with my family, love coffee and green tea. I believe that some of the most important skills to have when working with little children is patience, flexibility and love.
