From the President

Dear Friends,

In May 2025, Washington Jesuit Academy proudly celebrated a milestone that fills our community with joy and gratitude – the graduation of our 20th class of young men. With this class, our alumni network now extends to more than 400 brothers who continue to embody the values, character, and leadership first nurtured here on Varnum Street.

Among those alumni are eight (8) who have returned to WJA as staff members, giving back daily to the school that once lifted them. And for the first time, one of our alumni now serves on our Board of Directors – a powerful symbol of our mission coming full circle. These are not just markers of growth, but reminders of what is possible when education is rooted in opportunity, brotherhood, and faith. We stand on the shoulders of all who have made this moment possible – you, our faithful partners. This Investors Report highlights your generosity, which fuels the transformative work of WJA. Your belief in our students ensures that this community continues to widen its impact—lifting families, strengthening neighborhoods, and shaping leaders for our city and our world.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead with momentum. The next chapter calls us to dream bigger, deepen our reach, and ensure that every student and alumnus of WJA has the support to thrive. Together, we are building something extraordinary, and I am proud to walk this path with you.

With gratitude and hope,

From the Board Chair

Dear Friends,

Moments like May 2025 remind us why Washington Jesuit Academy exists. Just over two decades after its founding, WJA has proven that a tuition-free, faith-driven education can transform not only individual lives but entire communities. The impact of this mission is felt in classrooms, in boardrooms, in neighborhoods, and in families who have been forever changed because WJA opened its doors.

From a Board perspective, our responsibility is clear: to safeguard this mission while ensuring an expansion of our impact on future generations. This means strengthening WJA’s financial foundation, setting long-term strategy, and supporting the leadership and faculty who give so much to our boys and alumni every day. It also means daring to imagine what’s next – expanding our reach, deepening our support for alumni, and extending the Academy’s influence as a beacon of opportunity in and around the Nation’s Capital.

This report is, above all, a tribute to you, our partners and investors. Every gift represented in these pages reflects confidence in WJA’s future and pride in belonging to this extraordinary community. Because of you, WJA is not only celebrating milestones but also carrying forward momentum into a future full of promise.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for walking with us. Together, we are writing the next chapter of WJA’s story.

With gratitude,

23 Years, 20 Classes,

Countless Lives Changed

“We didn’t let fear silence us. We didn’t let failure define us. We faced challenges—and we grew because of them. Our future isn’t something we inherit it’s something we build. Together.”

Highlights from WJA’s 20th graduation ceremony

On May 28, 2025 Washington Jesuit Academy marked a powerful milestone: the graduation of its 20th 8th grade class. This meaningful ceremony celebrated not only the achievements of the Class of 2025, but also two decades of transformation, community, and missiondriven impact at WJA.

Celebrating All Those Who Remain “One of Ours”

“Even though we all come from different places, WJA brought us together as one family. We learned to lead, to love, and to lift each other up—and I’ll carry that with me forever.”

One of Ours

Rayford Wyder III: A Journey Shaped by WJA

Rayford Wyder III, a proud member of Washington Jesuit Academy’s inau gural graduating class, fondly reflects on his time at the school—especially a moment that stands out as a pivotal turning point in his life. One of his most cherished memories is participating in the Folger Secondary School Festival, which marked his first experience on stage. Performing a Shakespearean piece for the first time was both nerve-wracking and exhilarating. Although he had never acted before, Ray was determined to give it his best effort. The support he received from his classmates and teachers played a critical role in building his confidence, transforming his nervousness into excitement. That experience not only boosted his self-esteem but also instilled in him the belief that he could conquer any challenge. It was a defining moment that pushed him beyond his comfort zone, laying the foundation for the confident and resilient individual he is today.

The school taught him the importance of fostering strong relationships and being a positive influence on others, lessons that have been instrumental in helping him reach his full potential. For Ray, living as a “Man for Others” has been a lifelong commitment, and he credits WJA for shaping his understanding of service and the value of helping others.

Confidence-building has been a recurring theme throughout Ray’s journey, and WJA played a vital role in helping him overcome self-doubt and peer pressure—common struggles for many teenagers. Outside of his family, WJA served as a critical support system, offering mentorship and guidance tailored to the unique challenges of growing up as a young Black male in Washington, D.C. During his time at WJA, Ray learned valuable lessons that shaped his approach to life. He embraced the importance of setting realistic, achievable goals, working tirelessly toward them, and maintaining discipline in his actions and decisions. Ray also learned how to bounce back from setbacks with resilience, viewing challenges not as obstacles but as opportunities for growth.

WJA’s influence extended beyond academics and personal development; it instilled in Ray the values of integrity, service, and perseverance—principles that continue to guide him both professionally and personally.

After graduating from WJA, Ray continued his education at Good Counsel High School and later at St. Vincent College in Pennsylvania. Today, he works for the Department of Defense, where he plays a key role in creating a dynamic and supportive environment for service members and their families at Joint Base Andrews in Morningside, Maryland. His work focuses on providing safe, high-quality housing and fostering a nurturing community for those who serve our country. Ray’s passion for service and his commitment to others are direct reflections of the values he cultivated at WJA.

Ray is immensely proud to be a member of WJA’s first graduating class. For him, being an alumnus is more than just a title—it’s a deep connection to a community dedicated to excellence and transformation. WJA not only changed the trajectory of his life but also helped him realize his full potential. Ray expresses heartfelt gratitude to his sponsors and the entire WJA community for believing in him and investing in his future. He acknowledges that the impact WJA had on his life is immeasurable and something he will forever hold dear.

Looking ahead, Ray hopes WJA will continue to expand its reach, positively impacting more students and communities. He envisions a future where WJA students recognize their immense potential and carry forward the values of integrity, service, and excellence into the world. Ray believes that greatness comes in many forms—and that there is no better place to nurture it than at WJA.

“You walk out of here not just as graduates—but as men who are academically focused, open to growth, loving, religious, committed to justice, and men for others. Take those values into the world. Be the difference. Be the light. No matter how far you go, you carry this place with you. And we will always be proud to say, ‘He’s one of ours.’ ”

From WJA to Entrepreneurship:

Joe Brown’s Journey of Growth, Resilience, and Service

Joe Brown, a graduate of Washington Jesuit Academy’s (WJA) first class, is now a proud husband, father of four daugh ters, and owner-operator of a successful dump truck business. His journey from a student at WJA to a business owner is a powerful testament to the Academy’s transformative impact.

As the years pass, memories from WJA are not just echoes of the past but pillars that continue to shape his future. Joe’s two-decade journey since graduation is a story of personal development, resilience, and a commitment to giving back. The values and experiences he carried from his time at WJA continue to influence his life and those around him. In a recent conversation, Joe shared reflections on his time at WJA: the retreats that shaped him, the challenges he overcame, the lessons he learned, and the lasting legacy of the Academy.

One of Joe’s favorite memories is the retreats. Though initially hard to understand, these retreats provided critical moments for mental and emotional release. “It was a time to check out and decompress mentally,” he explained. In hindsight, he recognizes how essential these moments were, offering students a chance to step away from everyday pressures and simply breathe.

These experiences taught him the importance of stepping back from daily stress to recharge—a lesson that still shapes how he navigates challenges today.

WJA’s influence on Joe’s personal development has been profound. The Academy instilled in him the importance of focus and dedication. “Remain focused and pursue whatever you want with your whole heart. Be the best at whatever you do,” he recalled as the core lesson he carried forward— whether working jobs early in his career or launching his own business.

Joe credits WJA with preparing him to face the unknown. Even when learning to drive a truck—something he had never done before—he leaned on the confidence WJA had instilled in him. That spirit of perseverance and willingness to push beyond his comfort zone has been key to his success.

The days at WJA were long and often exhausting. Yet the blend of activities, cultural energy, and strong routines helped him adjust. “The days were tough, but after a while, it became normal,” he reflected. The Academy’s supportive environment made the challenges manageable, building a foundation of resilience that has lasted a lifetime.

“Growth often comes when you push through discomfort.”

He especially appreciates how WJA’s structure helped him grow through difficulty. “Growth often comes when you push through discomfort,” he noted—an idea that continues to guide him today.

Among the most enduring lessons from his time at WJA was the importance of helping others. This mindset was instilled not just through words, but through action. He recalls participating in community service projects, such as holiday food drives for the homeless. At the time, he didn’t fully grasp the significance, but looking back, those experiences made a deep impact: “People need help—not just financially, but sometimes they just need someone to listen or offer a meal,” he explained.

This commitment to service remains a constant in his life, and he works to instill the same values in his own children, encouraging them to show compassion and never make assumptions about others.

When asked how WJA prepared him for life’s next steps, Joe emphasized the importance of mental strength. The Academy’s culture of pushing boundaries helped him build the resilient mindset needed to tackle unexpected challenges. “I never let fear of the unknown stop me,” he said.

Joe also had a message for today’s WJA students: “It’s rough, but it’s worth it,” he advised. He urged them to trust the process, stay focused, and embrace every opportunity. “Don’t wonder what could have been. Take full advantage of what you have now.”

Looking to the future, Joe hopes WJA continues to grow and adapt to society’s changing needs. “Today’s world is very different,” he noted, “but the values of focus, community, and service will always be timeless.” He emphasized the importance of helping students stay connected to the world around them and teaching them to adapt as society evolves.

Joe’s ongoing efforts to give back are a reflection of the lessons he learned at WJA. Whether feeding the homeless or supporting those in need, he remains committed to service—and he hopes to inspire the next generation to do the same.

He expressed deep gratitude for his time at WJA, especially for the faith that the Academy—and its sponsors—placed in him and his peers. “I appreciate the opportunity and the belief in us,” he said. “That faith played a key role in shaping who I’ve become.”

United in spirit and in sport, to support the life-changing work happening at WJA, the energy on the field between Georgetown Preparatory School and Gonzaga College High School was electric, but even more powerful was the sense of connection among players, families, alumni, and friends who gathered in support of our students. A very special thanks to our Presenting Sponsor, Founders Bank, the Host Committee and our co-chairs Al Jackson and Louise O’Berry. The 2025 JLC raised over $115,000 for WJA.

Difference Makers in Action

Washington Jesuit Academy’s mission has been fueled by a community of supporters who believe in the promise of every young man we serve. This feature celebrates six distinct donor stories —visionaries, mentors, champions, and friends—who represent the breadth of generosity that has made WJA’s tuition-free model possible. Each brings a unique perspective, yet they share a common belief: that investing in the education, character formation, and future success of our students is one of the most meaningful contributions they can make. Their commitment has shaped WJA’s past, strengthens our present, and ensures that we can walk boldly into the future together.

Full Circle: WJA’s First Alumni Varnum Society Member

There’s a moment when gratitude transforms into action. For Washington Jesuit Academy’s first alumni member of the Varnum Society, Mitchel Dennis (Class of 2012) and his wife, Keana, that moment was inevitable.

“Becoming an investing member at WJA wasn’t something I was encouraged to do but rather something I felt mandated to do,” he reflects. “I would not, in any shape or form, be in the position I am in life if it weren’t for WJA.”

His deepest memories aren’t of test scores or trophies, but of school retreats—breathtaking, reflective experiences where he learned emotional intelligence and grew closer to teachers and classmates. These moments exemplified WJA’s commitment to forming the whole person.

The Jesuit ideal of “Men for Others” has become his guiding philosophy. “When those around you are good and thriving, then in return you will as well,” he explains. He witnessed this firsthand through the support and motivation offered to all students by the teachers and staff.

When ready to give, no one had to ask. “Once the time came when I was ready, I immediately donated.” His goal was simple: ensuring WJA’s daily operations continue so future students experience the same transformation.

What does he hope his legacy will be? “That I simply gave back to those who gave to me when I was younger. I will forever be in debt to WJA. No one person can carry the school to success; it takes a group effort. But if everybody does something, nobody has to do a lot.”

The future of WJA? “Bright and inspiring. The work that WJA does year after year with the young men is a true testament to what can happen to a child when love and support is around them.”

Staff Sergeant (SSG) Mitchel O. Dennis, III and his wife, Keana, reside in Virginia with their two children. After graduating WJA in 2012, Mitchel spent his first two years of high school at St. John’s College High School before graduating from Riverdale Baptist High School in 2016.

The Galiani Family: Sponsoring with Heart and Purpose

For Kirk and Anna Maria Galiani, along with Kirk’s brother and sister-in-law, John and Nancy, supporting Washington Jesuit Academy as Student Sponsors is a family commitment — one rooted in faith, gratitude, and belief in the power of opportunity. When Kirk first visited WJA, he walked through classrooms, met the leadership, and immediately felt the impact. “It’s a phenomenal place — changing lives every day,” he recalls. “The mission is incredible, and you can feel it the moment you step on campus.”

The Galianis are deeply inspired by WJA’s rigorous 11-month, 11-hour-a-day schedule. “It’s not easy for these young men,” Kirk says. “It’s a sacrifice — but sacrifice comes with so many opportunities. They’re learning discipline and determination that will carry them for life.” He fondly remembers visiting a classroom where students were transforming poems into rap songs — a perfect example, he says, of “teachers meeting students where they are.”

continued

The Galiani Family (continued)

For the Galianis, sponsorship is personal. “You meet the students, stay connected with their families, and see the difference you’re making. Their energy is infectious,” Kirk explains.

The family believes WJA stands apart from other causes they support. “Of all the organizations we give to, this one touches our hearts the most,” Kirk reflects. “We hope WJA continues to grow — maybe even two WJAs one day — to change even more young lives.”

The Student Sponsorship Program at Washington Jesuit Academy makes it possible for every student to attend tuition-free. Sponsors commit to supporting a student’s education and personal growth, building a lasting relationship that connects generosity with transformation.

Expanding the Circle: WJA’s Next Generation of Supporters

For Kelsey and Dan Glading, supporting Washington Jesuit Academy isn’t just philanthropy—it’s personal. Both products of Catholic education, they understand firsthand the transformative power of a values-centered education. In WJA’s mission of forming “Men for Others,” they recognized something extraordinary.

“Every single time we’re around the teachers, current students, and alumni, we are reminded why this matters,” Dan shares. The constant reinforcement comes not from one defining moment, but from witnessing an unbroken chain of success stories—young men advancing in their careers, graduates returning as staff members, and alumni joining the Board of Directors.

This inspired their decision to become champions of the 900 Club. “If you think about support as an investment, you’re investing in a winning proposition,” Dan explains. Their vision extends beyond today’s students to building a sustainable foundation for tomorrow, broadening the next generation of financial supporters so WJA’s remarkable outcomes can accelerate and reach even more young men.

Their advice to potential donors is simple but powerful: “The magic happens inside the walls of the school—go experience it yourself. You have to see it with your own eyes and feel the community.”

For Dan and Kelsey, WJA’s future represents “a circle that continues to get stronger” — where successful alumni support current students, creating an ever-expanding network of achievement. Their message to the students?

“Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re an inspiration for so many, and we are excited to watch you succeed.”

A Legacy of Belief: Investing in Tomorrow’s Leaders

“The magic happens inside the walls of the school— go experience it yourself. You have to see it with your own eyes and feel the community.”

From her first encounter with Washington Jesuit Academy at a Zag Group reception, Genevieve Murphy knew this was different. Two decades later, back at WJA’s Graduation Ceremony and reconnecting with Marcus K. Washington (WJA Class of 2019), that initial spark had become an enduring flame. The young man, who she previously sponsored, was a freshman at Fordham University. He had arrived at Varnum Street a promising student and now stood as living proof of WJA’s transformative power.

“The brotherhood is palpable,” she reflects, describing what sets WJA apart. It’s not just the 11-month, 11-hour days or the unwavering support through college and career. It’s the promise kept: to develop the whole person—body, mind, and soul. continued

Difference Makers in Action

“You want these young men to be in the world that’s coming –not looking at it from the outside.”

A Legacy of Belief (continued)

As a first-generation American who understands that privilege isn’t universal, she sees WJA’s model with clarity born from experience. “Children need structure to know what is expected of them,” she explains. “These boys are loved, cared for, held accountable, all year round.”

Her transformational gift—an Endowed Student Sponsorship—reflects both strategic thinking and deep conviction. “I’m a strong believer in endowments and using them,” she explains. “When I – or anyone else – invests in WJA, the rate of return is almost guaranteed.” She understands that endowments offer leadership peace of mind for the future, with dividends that pay for education year after year.

Genevieve attributes both her and her late husband, JD’s, success to Catholic education. She puts her money where her values are. “One of the best investments is one made in a child,” she declares.

Her message to students? “Work hard. Be grateful. But have fun—we don’t have enough fun.”

The future of WJA, she believes, is bright—if we continue investing in what matters most.

Champions of Opportunity: Empowering the Next

Generation Innovators

When Maureen and Doug Webster were introduced to Washington Jesuit Academy through board member Tom Lynch, they immediately recognized a mission that spoke to their hearts and values. “Everyone deserves a chance to shine on this earth,” Doug reflects. “Not everyone begins with the same opportunities – but with care, leadership, and education, you can change the course of a young person’s life.”

The Websters’ belief in that philosophy has come to life through their support for WJA’s STEM initiatives, helping students gain the skills and confidence to thrive in an increasingly technological world. Doug, whose career centers on technology and growing companies, emphasizes that “the next 50 years are going to make the last 50 look like nothing.” He believes early exposure to science, computer programming, and AI is essential: “You want these young men to be in the world that’s coming – not looking at it from the outside.”

Their support helped bring WJA’s Maker Space to life – a vibrant hub where students can experiment, create, and see technology come alive. But for the Websters, the true reward has been seeing the long-term impact of their involvement. Doug recalls meeting the first student they sponsored, Atiba (Class of 2018), when he was a 4th grader, “a nice little boy with a spark.” Years later, he mentored Atiba as a college senior, poised to enter a business field similar to his own. “I felt pride similar to that I have for my own son,” he says. “Atiba is sophisticated, balanced, realistic – he has overcome challenges, built a strong reputation, and has a can-do attitude. This is exactly what WJA is about.”

Inspired by stories like Atiba’s, the Websters continue to invest in the future of WJA and its students. “Marcus has an incredible vision for keeping these young men competitive,” Doug adds. “We want to do everything we can to support that.” Through their generosity, mentorship, and belief in equitable opportunity, Maureen and Doug Webster are helping ensure that every WJA student has the chance to innovate, lead, and shine. Their message to students—and donors—is simple: “Appreciate what you have and give back.”

The Magis Legacy Society recognizes the generosity of donors who have committed to supporting WJA through planned gifts such as bequests and retirement plan distributions. By providing long-term support for WJA, Magis Society members help ensure we can provide a high-quality education and a lifetime of meaningful support to future generations of WJA students. Named after the Jesuit principle of magis—working for the greater good—our Legacy Society honors the WJA community’s shared belief in the power of education to transform lives.

On May 14, 2025, we welcomed members of WJA’s Magis Society for Mass, a conversation with students, and coffee with President Marcus Washington. We are grateful for these friends whose philanthropic legacy will uplift generations of students now and in the future.

The 900 Club was founded in 2024 and recognizes individuals who commit to a monthly gift of $75 to WJA’s Impact Fund. “900” is both the annual total of these recurring gifts and reflects the location of our beloved campus on Varnum Street.

Members of the 900 Club allow us to fulfill our mission by strengthening our ability to educate and serve 140+ young men from underserved neighborhoods in the greater Washington, D.C. region. Their gifts sustain and enrich the unique student experience offered at the Academy, which has proven successful in creating positive outcomes for our students and alumni.

Ahead of the auction, members of the FCBA Young Lawyers Committee visited WJA to learn more about our mission and spend time helping our students with homework during evening study hall. Sustaining Donors

These benefactors align their passions with the Academy’s priorities, generating an incredible impact across WJA. We acknowledge these individuals and families who support our mission through endowments.

Anonymous Scholarship Endowment

The donor is passionate about education and considered funding the start-up of a school to provide better educational opportunities for students. When he was introduced to the Washington Jesuit Academy, he realized that what he was dreaming of already existed with a successful track record. As a result, he and his family chose to endow a scholarship.

AnBryce Scholarship

Bea and Tony Welters grew up in difficult circumstances and after having built a successful business, they made it their mission to extend a helping hand to others in need. They have established a summer camp, afterschool and Saturday leadership program, and extensive support programs at the college level. Their AnBryce Scholarship supports WJA students who have participated in their summer camp, after-school, or any of their foundation’s programs.

Bernasek Family Scholarship

In celebration of the Washington Jesuit Academy’s past success and bright future in providing a valuesoriented education for students, Cathy and Brian Bernasek chose to endow a scholarship in 2015.

Brodnik Scholarship

As longtime student sponsors at the Washington Jesuit Academy, Joan and Tim Brodnik chose to make their investment permanent by endowing a scholarship in 2007.

Claire Z. Carey, PH.D. Faculty Endowment Fund

When the Washington Jesuit Academy was formed, the MBNA Foundation and its founder Charlie Cawley chose to establish an endowment fund for faculty salaries in honor of Claire Z. Carey, a former dean of Georgetown College at Georgetown University.

A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation Endowment

At the direction of Courtney and R. Scott Pastrick, having witnessed first-hand WJA’s growth toward stability and sustainability, the Clark Charitable Foundation established the endowment to honor WJA’s countless benefactors and to inspire future confidence and investment in the mission of the Academy.

German Orphan Home of the District of Columbia Endowment Fund

This fund was established to provide support for science, art, and music programs at the Washington Jesuit Academy.

Cecilia

H. Gonzalez and Stephen M. Foster Scholarship Endowment Fund

Howrey LLP and Stephen Foster, both long-time student sponsors at WJA, established this endowment fund in memory of Stephen’s beloved wife and Howrey partner, Cecilia H. Gonzalez.

Civitas Foundation Scholarship Fund

John Quigley has come to see education as key to an individual’s growth and advancement. He is a graduate of Georgetown University, where he was a Baker Scholar, and thereafter received degrees from Stanford and Columbia. He is committed to providing scholarship aid to those with a keen desire to pursue their education. John is delighted to see WJA have as a cornerstone a commitment to the Jesuit ideal of cura personalis.

Steven Smith College Reach Fund

Margaret and John Ford, longtime supporters of WJA, established this fund in memory of Margaret’s beloved brother, Steven. Through the fund, WJA alumni are eligible to receive funds that can help mitigate barriers to their admission to and/or persistence in college so that they can realize their ultimate success.

WJA Forward Endowed Scholarships honor the morals on which the Academy was founded and help ensure there will be seats available for deserving young men for today, tomorrow, and forever.

Karen and her husband of 32 years are proud parents of four Jesuit-educated sons. She is a graduate of Gettysburg College and a Certified Non-Profit Accounting Professional.

Katie Jack

Katie joined WJA’s development team as our Philanthropy Officer in April 2025. Katie has co-chaired the WJA Golf Open for the last three years and is incredibly grateful to continue to be part of WJA and its important mission. She previously worked in the Federal Government for over 12 years, first as a special assistant to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and most recently as a senior advisor in the Office of the Chief of Protocol at the State Department. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications from the University of Southern Mississippi. Katie and her husband Chris Lucey live in McLean, VA. Their two children attend Holy Trinity School.

Marissa Mullen

Marissa joins WJA as a Fundraising and Communications Associate. She returns to WJA after having served on the Committee on House Administration on Capitol Hill. Prior to this, Marissa held positions at WJA both as Program Assistant as well as the Director of Communications. She proudly returned to serve in a new role, combining fundraising as well as communications. Marissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Government at the University of Virginia and is currently working towards earning her Master of Arts in Education. She is grateful for the opportunity to forward the mission of the Academy.

Rebekah Rowe

Rebekah joined Washington Jesuit Academy after earning her Master’s in Education from The Catholic University of America. A familiar and well-loved face at WJA, Ms. Rowe completed both her classroom observations and student teaching at the Academy. She now serves as the 4th Grade Social Studies and 5th Grade Language Arts teacher, bringing enthusiasm, dedication, and a deep commitment to WJA’s mission of nurturing young men to be scholars and leaders for others.

Malik Thorne

A proud graduate of Washington Jesuit Academy’s Class of 2013, Malik Thorne returned to his alma mater as a full-time Program Assistant after completing multiple summer internships. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Business from Bowie State University before being invited back to WJA to “pay it forward” and serve the next generation of students. Before rejoining WJA, Malik gained experience in security, event management, and youth development, including serving as a head youth football coach and interning with Public Performance Management. Deeply committed to WJA’s mission of forming “Men for Others,” Malik takes pride in helping young men grow into leaders who embody integrity, service, and brotherhood—values he continues to live out every day.

Thank You Plan Ahead for Your Giving

At Washington Jesuit Academy, we know that giving comes from the heart—because you believe in our young men and their potential. Still, we wanted to share a few important tax updates that could affect charitable giving starting in 2026.

Here’s what’s changing:

● Beginning in 2026, all taxpayers—even those who don’t itemize—will be able to deduct charitable gifts up to $1,000 for individuals and $2,000 for couples

● For those who do itemize, two other updates will take effect:

~ A minimum giving threshold of 0.5% of adjusted gross income (AGI) before deductions apply.

~ A slightly lower deduction cap, decreasing from 37% to 35%.

Because of these changes, some WJA supporters are choosing to make or increase their 2025 gifts—or even combine several years of giving before the new limits begin—to maximize their tax benefits and impact.

Every situation is unique, so we encourage you to consult your tax advisor. Whatever you decide, please know how deeply grateful we are for your support. Your generosity empowers our students to grow, achieve, and lead.

Thank you for believing in them— and in WJA’s mission.

Washington Jesuit Academy does not provide tax or legal advice. The information above is meant to be helpful and educational. Please consult your tax advisor regarding how charitable contributions and tax law changes may affect you.
